  1. On X-Plane.org It's the biggest XP site that I know of and a very useful resource.
  2. http://download.geofabrik.de/australia-oceania.html They (.pbf's) are all available here, updated nightly to take in changes made in any given day as far as I can see. Any changes you make will be reflected in the next days build.
  3. Yeah, I'm in the same boat, I've lost interest in the heavies in favor of GA and heli flights. Now that X-Plane has gotten to the point where the photoscenery is so sharp even at low levels I spend my time sightseeing in my own country in aircraft I could imagine flying as a private pilot. I honestly don't miss the heavies at all. I have small kids so there's not all that much time for simming so when I get on my flights are short and sweet, from the field I landed at to the one which takes as much time as I have to get to or just touring the area around the field and back.
  4. It looks from the pics and usually is the case that you'll need to move the entire field left. In WED, make sure you have Marquee selected and grab everything and move left. I find you need both OE and WED open, make a move in WED and refresh OE to see how the alignment is, move and refresh until it's right. Not at all sure if the buildings will move too though I tend towards doubting it. Such projects I've always found a nightmare because buildings are seldom composed of just one piece that can be easily moved but seem to come across in their constituent pieces which makes matching their respective moves difficult to say the least.
  5. As of 10.10, you can set your own views for each plane without a plugin. Go to 3D view, then position where you want the view to be with the arrow keys and shift + , and shift + ., then set it with Ctrl + Numpad. Then access the view with the corresponding Numpad key. Transitions are smooth, like EZ-Dok.
  6. Sorry, I think you misunderstood me earlier. When I said resize your XP window, I literally meant make it smaller on the screen, I wasn't referring to resolution at all. If as you make it smaller your fps increases then you are GPU bound. It's just a quick way to isolate your likely problem.
  7. Well if the framerate doesn't increase by resizing the window I always understood that that rules out being GPU bound and indicates being CPU bound which I have a hard time seeing in your case tbh. I found today that water reflection detail has a big impact on my framerate of 10fps or so even if I'm not near a large body, so though it looks fantastic I've mine set to none if I'm away from water or low if near. My settings are below for comparison and I run at 29-30fps steady once I've given it a minute to settle after start.
  8. Wow that is some system, I'd be a happy man! I wonder is it as simple as the higher resolution you are running? Have you tried resizing the XP window to see if that raises the frames?
  9. I would wonder if the rain might be caused by one of your plugins? I don't have the rain problem nor many others though I've seen it reported by more than just you. Surely this has to be down to a difference in our respective X-Plane 10 main folders which could only be a plugin, scenery or aircraft installed difference. I'd say you might be able to cure the problem through a process of elimination. Just a thought.
  10. Yeah I hear ya! I've never come across a how to but I'll get you started. The difficulty is in putting together a working g2xpl.ini file to configure properly for downloading, once that's done it's all automated from there, you can set it to task and it will run through everything that needs doing including installing your new scenery. I'll PM you and we can get you going that way.
  11. No sorry, my bad. I use G2XPL to create from satellite imagery the photoscenery for X-Plane. I generate it at a zoom level of 18 which is one zoom level higher than the Simheaven stuff but produces scenery which takes up four times as much drive space than the Simheaven ones. The definition is far higher than that in any photoscenery I've ever seen for FSX/P3d and the effect is startling to say the least. You can see details sharply at anything above tree height. To give you an idea of how good it is, go to Bing maps and zoom in until you can zoom in no further without the image starting to lose definition. That's what you get in sim. Coupled with World2XPlane the combination made me uninstall FSX and P3d 2.2 because there was no longer any sensible comparison to be made. For me the war is over and X-Plane was victorious. All it cost me to achieve this was a small donation to each of the authors of the two tools referred to. I couldn't possibly fly the others now even after throwing many thousands at them over the years.
  12. It seems simple to me, if you dislike something you should have the balls to say why. Clicking a button for dislike is a form of individual judgement on a post. People are usually entitled in the civilized world to know the reasons a judgement went against them. I know I've said I don't espouse entitlement so before some jump down my throat for having a sense of entitlement that I'm not entitled to, that entitlement to know the reasons a judgement went against someone is, I say again, not decided by myself but by wider civil society. Basic civility is something the internet is often not very good at.
  13. G2XPL and World2XPlane are that package. If you need any help send me a PM and I'll try to get you moving.
  14. Yeah somehow there is a sense of depth and distance in XP that's not present in the others. I found that things looked smaller and just got bigger in the rest as you covered the virtual space between here and there rather than actually looking father away. I think the sense of it being 'cartoony' which I totally agree with was heightened by the Orbx scenery, which essentially all looks the same due to its landclass basis, being false. Since I started flying with hi-def photoscenery of what's actually there in real life with autogen there's just no going back now.
  15. Yeah, I have G2XPL scenery at zoom level 18 and World2XPlane, my XP takes about 15 minutes to load. It's a pain but worth it. Strange with the rain thing though, are you using SkyMaxxPro, I had just 10 meters visibility trying to use that though others seem to have no trouble, might be worth taking it out if it's in there as a test?
  16. I had 8 and ran into trouble with G2XPL scenery so I bought another matched pair of 2 fours of the same type to fill the remaining spaces without thinking to check anything other than that the ram was the same as what was in it. RAM arrives in the post, YAY thinks I. Turns out the monster air cooler covered one of the slots allowing me to only fit 12. Bugger! All my flying is low-n-slow anyway so no biggie on the 12dsf thing. Then I discovered that my 12Gig was running at 1333 rather than the rated 1600, had to go into the bios and set that right. Not sure whether it was that or the update that got me the extra frames to make XP just right at high goodies settings.
  17. Thought as much, it's a pity it was removed as it definitely dramatically improved the night lighting, turns out the author of "HDR environment II" stole content from REX however searching for the reason for it's takedown did lead me to this thread of which I was unaware which indicates that REX are going to do something for XP, good news indeed.
  18. Night ops in X-Plane are truly stunning. There is no comparison to be made betwen XP at night and the others, the others just aren't even at the races. I don't think HDR Environment has been available for a while on the org though, is that where you go it?
  19. Cool! How would I go about doing likewise?
  20. As far as I can see it did yeah. I had visibility of about 10m with SkyMaxxPro installed but things were fine when I got rid of it.
  21. New clouds are really good though SkyMaxxPro didn't want to play nice with the new update. It doesn't really matter because the update means I now have no need for it. Really impressed. I'm getting a better framerate too with all the goodies on. Excellent!
  22. Yes I was able to grasp his point and I do not disagree with it. It was the manner in which he chose to make his point that I find less than civil. Others will find it perfectly acceptable.
  23. I seldom dislike anything but changing what someone else has posted to suit yourself and your particular view is the height of ignorance in my book. It shows an incredible lack of basic respect for others. It seems you can speak for the OP but the OP cannot. How do you figure? :Straight Face:
