I would vote for the Bell 407. Great bird for the learner to make progress with.

Fellow X-Plane simpilots opinions wanted

I couldn't have put it better myself. I have to say though that if Ben gets the default clouds sorted performancewise I would much prefer them. The shadows are much better. -
An Interesting Future for Outerra

Now that would be brilliant!! -
That last shot is a beaut!

If ya really want a nice Irish drink, try Magners or any of the whiskeys, mmmmmm!

No it wouldn't be considered a particularly American thing to do. She's obviously not the most experienced barkeep.

Harp is Irish to the best of my knowledge. It was the first beer I ever drank and it's served in all the pubs over here though I confess it's been a while since I've been in a pub.

PMDG's XPlane 10 Development Fact Thread [Updated 25NOV13]
User72 replied to rsrandazzo's topic in PMDG General Forum
So apparently today is the day that we should be told what aircraft the project involves even if it's not ready, doesn't that seem reasonable or is it just me? I know that in my case I'll just be getting more annoyed with them as time goes on with no word given their commitment to tell us. How long that annoyance is allowed to grow influences any decision to purchase in my case. -

Can we try not to derail what has been nothing but a positive thread until now, such things are so rare! -
PMDG's XPlane 10 Development Fact Thread [Updated 25NOV13]
User72 replied to rsrandazzo's topic in PMDG General Forum
Yeah, I kind of am. For PMDG to do anything that doesn't at least compete, if not blow away the current competition, would be a mistake given the height of expectation and the bar they've set for themselves with their FSX offerings. I'd be disappointed. -
The fact that they made this free has ensured that I will buy any future products they come out with. I understood there was uncertainty as to whether or not it would be free and I previously stated that I thought it should be. I think they made the right decision and will support them fully with my card in the future.

Considering X-Plane 10... A Few Questions
User72 replied to Dragonmount's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I don't think anyone missed your point. I certainly understand your point and your preference ( see my last post ). Those who use X-Plane just get sick of those who don't telling us that the UI is not as good as the one they prefer and that that's a good reason not to use XP. It's a nonsense comment. If that's your best contribution then I personally am glad that you have now made it and are whence freed to move on to other topics. -
Going ALL IN on X-Plane

LOL, as they say! Welcome to the dark side, my transition ran roughly the same as yours and these days my simming is enjoyable and trouble free and my wallet has recovered -
Considering X-Plane 10... A Few Questions
User72 replied to Dragonmount's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Why is it that advocates of P3d and FSX insist on posting in X-Plane threads just to inform us that they advocate one or the other. Since I stopped using P3d and FSX, I don't hang around the threads concerning themselves with those sims just to butt in now and again to say how I favour X-Plane unless I actually have some relevant input which is rare. Strange phenomenon. -

I've found I have to disable and then re-enable SkyMaxx on sim start, works fine then usually. -

Where I'm from it's the very old, the lazy or the truly incompetent who drive automatic transmission vehicles. Just a random musing. -
Considering X-Plane 10... A Few Questions

Agreed, the UI is not rocket science in fairness and it's very good at what it needs to do. One wonders about the amount of handholding that some people seem to need. -
Considering X-Plane 10... A Few Questions
User72 replied to Dragonmount's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I eventually had to delete the other sims and move completely to XP because once I had put in the bit of time it takes to get used to XP and how to mod it to my liking ( alot less tweaking than the others took, no doubt!) the others just couldn't compete and yes I did make redundant all the many thousands worth of addons I had for FSX/P3d but it was no loss really once I had XP to my liking. There was simply no comparison for me, different strokes I suppose for different folks. -

Totally disagree here! X-Plane eats high end systems and comes back looking for more. The higher end the better when it comes to XP10. FSX takes a significantly lower spec system to run it well. It's the whole 64 vs 32 bit thing. You'll not be blown away by the default aircraft as is the norm really. There are a lot of excellent quality payware though and the good news is you'll need to spend a lot less on payware stuff in general to get X-Plane to a really high level for any 'die hard simmer', I got a chuckle out of that particular comment. -
I confess I haven't read all of this topic, please do pounce on me if this has been said already. I seem to recall John Venema saying in an interview somewhere that this was what he foresaw as the future of his market, the idea that folks would want to land and get out to walk around the terminal. I personally thought the idea was nonsense but who am I to question the great JV? Interesting to see how this pans out.
