  1. It is optimised to run on hardware as good as can be had and take advantage of whatever you can give it, the code is tight. My setup is nothing to write home about but can maintain 26-30fps in all situations on high settings that look really well. That might not sound like a lot but the fluidity at that has to be seen to be believed. Anyone I know that flies XP for a while gave up on the others entirely, it's that good with a little effort to make it so as it doesn't look as good out of the box as it can be made to look. It's rock solid performance wise with none of the crashes or ooms that are part and parcel of the others. There simply is no like.
  2. X-Plane may lack some things that folks like but it more than makes up for that lack with what it does have once people give it enough of a chance.
  3. If it was a windows update that caused it surely it would be happening for a lot of people. When you kill the process and restart the problematic programs what happens?
  4. Is there a way to accurately place runways in their real world positions?
  5. Tushka, at this stage of the conversation I'm of the opinion that you are perhaps not quite as worldly wise as you like to consider yourself based on the very limited evidence from this thread alone, which is all I have to go on. I don't imagine I or others could influence your thinking on the matter at hand in any way here, so all I can say now is best of luck to you Sir.
  6. You are only entitled to what you've paid for which is a seat on a plane essentially. You take your chances after that just like the rest of us. If you need your sleep as much as you say then perhaps you should factor a rest day into your trips. When you and your sister have kids you'll likely think differently. I don't think anyone has actually said areas shouldn't exist on aircraft where kids are not allowed though if they have they are essentially right. I imagine being denied a seat on an aircraft because one has children would lead to a tasty lawsuit. What's being said is that you simply cannot ban children or babies on a flight. If that flight was the only flight that would allow you and your kids to see a dying parent/grandparent and you were denied a seat because you had a baby how would you react then? Would you care that someone might miss their beauty sleep? Would you sue if the person died and that flight would have gotten you there to say goodbye? If you were the one missing their beauty sleep in that case would you insist on your assumed entitlement? That's just an example but you see where I'm going with it. It's discriminatory. The simple point here is that the reality of air travel is that hundreds of people, all with the same entitlement to be aboard, are crowded into a fast moving tube for as long as it takes to get where they are going. Seating is largely a matter of luck. Babies cry, it's what they do. You have to learn to suck it up a bit or make changes to your travelling to mitigate your loss of sleep and apparent inability to then function up to par.
  7. There's a lot of babies around this thread who freak out if their sleep is interrupted. Seriously, if you can't function well after missing a few hours sleep then you have bigger problems than screaming babies on flights. You better hope real life never hits you hard.
  8. I think people who call for child free flights need to get over themselves. I have some very choice names for people who are that self absorbed.
  9. It really does need OSM data imported to give that sim effect but I believe once that's accomplished people will see the result and flock to the cause. It really is exciting to watch development continue apace. It's a beautiful piece of work and that word is hard to apply to the other sims.
  10. Thanks Jan, simple method. The beaches everywhere is something that has annoyed me for a very long time, I hope Laminar decide to work on it in the next beta run or soon at least, it ruins photoscenery which is used by a lot of people now.
  11. Agreed. There is no comparison to be made with the others anymore in that regard, XP takes it by a country mile and does it smoothly. I installed P3d again recently to see if I was missing anything with 2.3, discovered I wasn't, remembered why I uninstalled FSX and P3d in the first place.
  12. How are these conversions accomplished? I created an airfield for X-Plane and would like to bring it into Outerra. Edit: Never mind, answered my own question enough to realise I don't have the skills needed.
  13. I'm not an investor of any kind nor a gambler but I would be happy to throw up $100 or so just to see what I envision becoming the simulator to beat them all become a reality. I imagine there are more like me who see the potential and would be happy to support you in whatever way they may be able. Thanks for contributing, I really hope you make your fortune on this endeavour so that the rest of us may enjoy the fruits of your labour. I urge the addon devs to get involved even if it's only to publicly state that this is something they are keeping their eyes on for the future with an eye to developing for, as where the devs go goes the community. Such a contribution from as many of the devs as possible would garner huge support for the kickstarter and essentially allow it to become reality whilst creating a source of future revenue. It's win win for them with nothing to lose that I can see. I similarly urge the community to question the devs on this and make them aware that this is something they would want to see come to fruition, the community can lead the devs as much as the devs can lead the community. Ask them in their fora. Take the lead. A groundswell of interest needs to be created and can be easily given some of what we've seen of the development.
  14. What did you use to create it? I have similar for X-Plane but the coastlines are not as good, would like to have what you have in P3d.
  15. When I used FSX/P3d I used that scenery and must say it was as good or better than any you'll find for those platforms. When you combine it with some of the .bgls from Orbx Ireland and use ScenProc to place OSM scenery the effect is top class, you'll get roads with traffic, landmark buildings, wind turbines, houses and other fun stuff all correctly placed. Highly recommended.
  16. As one who favors X-Plane I'll be actively looking for reviews from that section of the community. This could be a big step forward. Thanks for the pointer OP.
  17. Multitudinous expletives! Thanks. I wonder now will it work at all? I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
  18. Do you have X-Plane? 10.30 final is due to have native Rift support, I'd be interested in any impressions you might have.
  19. Yeah I've been keeping my eye on that one for P3d when it comes to Ireland. At the moment I don't have either P3d or FSX installed as X-Plane fits the bill for me, I like low GA fliying but when Ireland comes out in that product range I'll certainly reinstall P3d to check it out.
  20. Gotta say that the MSE is way oversaturated, too green by far. Horizon is probably undersaturated. I'm Irish btw. As the poster above, I also generated Irish photoscenery for X-Plane for free and it has superior resolution and looks more realistic. Plus it has autogen which is a big help with immersion. In my humble opinion, lovers of photoscenery are better served by XP but should be warned, it takes up a massive amount of drivespace. Another thing XP allows is color adjustments in sim to find your own preference.
