  1. Hi, sorry for late reply. I tried turning on cloud shadows, starting with 10 000 meters, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Even during full overcast, sunreflections were still present in cockpit. Performance-wise it is not good turning cloud shadows on, including terrain shadows.
  2. Hi! I noticed when using GSX in P3D 3.2 that I did not have the option to change page (in menu), something I did in 3.0. For instance, opening GSX at a large airport only gives you the alternatives for runways, not selecting gates after landing. However, they are on the next page but I'm to noob to figure out how Any hints?
  3. No, I find that kills performance. Will it actually block sun reflections during overcast though?
  4. Sorry for bringing up an old topic but I've been wondering about this myself. For instance, today I noticed that even though there is a full overcast, the sun still reflects in the cockpit (see picture underneath). Is there any way we can tweak such lightning to only appear when breaking through the cloud layer? Like OP states, in RW there are basically no shadows nor reflections during overcast conditions.
  5. No it changes high level cloud textures. Look at this page. http://www.avsim.com/topic/464547-popcorn-clouds-continue-in-2512944/page-7 Truth be told - it worked better in 2.5 - 3.0 than it does in 3.2. Could be placebo of course. Low level clouds look very good on my setup, at least when standing on the ground: However, once I get airborne it looks like this Terrible... ...like lumps of popcorn
  6. Doesnt matter what you select in Rex Overdrive (I think). When you select textures in Soft Clouds they will anyways replace low cloud textures from REX OD.
  7. I also experience a major drop in FPS in dense clouds, and that is only with 2x MSAA (No NVI settings). In addition only 512x sky textures , DXT5. Reverted back to previous ASN build but it didn't make any difference for me.
  8. Second that. I once again applied the tweeks supplied by Richard in a different topic a long time ago. These tweaks changes the size and apperance of clouds. Helped me to say it at least. http://www.avsim.com/topic/472632-ideal-flight-weather/ Also, I reactivated REX Overdrive, selected the clouds I wanted, then went to Rex Soft Clouds and selected the clouds I wanted there - BAM, beautiful clouds, at least low-level clouds. High level clouds are still subject to the popcorn-cloud debate.
  9. Ok fine, let us who think it is a problem and "want to be right" discuss it then. Apparently you have nothing of importance to contribute with, even though both Active Sky developers and REX work to come up with fixes to remove "Popcorn clouds" (read their update logs for instance). Wouldn't think they worked to fix such a thing if it didn't exist? Don't answer that question by the way...
  10. That doesn't make any sense. Its pretty easy to look outside the window to spot how clouds "should" look like. In P3D v3.0 they looked great and realistic. Now, in 3.2 they look exactly like lumps of popcorn stacked horizontally. I call that broken.
  11. Please elaborate upon what types of clouds/software you use then.
  12. Hi. I have now tried these settings and from what I can tell instantly - they do not work at all unless you are running an home cockpit  The thing is, with that incredible amount of bloom (3.00), all panels and gauges (for instance in the NGX or PMDG777) become excessively bright and over-saturated. Again, not an issue if you are running home-cockpit and can fine-tune the brightness and intensity of your panels by yourself. Nevertheless, I was able to tune night conditions to make NE look more intense/bloomy, but nights in P3D continue to appear way to bright with "milky white" clouds. XP renders this far much better.
  13. Try finding a Dash Q400 checklist and work through the flows by yourself. Its a handful but the sense of achievement feels greater compared to handling the NGX by yourself.
  14. That must be a completely new driver, then? Could be that my horrible performance and stutters derived from the version .47
  15. Sorry for bringing up an old post, again - but here's another noob experiencing popcorn clouds in V3.2. I managed to fix the popcorn cloud issue in P3D v3.0 by using Rex Essential Overdrive together with Rex Soft Clouds as REX4 for some reason induces massive popcorn cloud formations. Now, none of these options seems to fix the issue.
  16. Having the same issue. Very good performance in v3.0 though.
  17. Steve, may I ask you a question? Ever since I installed P3D v3.2 I've been struggling with poor performance compared to P3D v3.0. In P3D v3.0 I ran unlimited FPS, 2x MSAA, HT disabled, Vsync and triple buffering off and had great performance. I also used to Nvidia Control Panel to run "Single Display", not multi monitor, and high performance etc. I've tried adding AF = 85 and FFTF = 0.01 to the P3D.cfg, but this doesn't make any difference. Any suggestions? I'm running the exact same in-game settings as before. Specs: i7 4770K OCed to 4.5 Ghz GTX-970 16 gb RAM
  18. Ok thanks. What type of HDR settings do you apply then?
  19. Nice shot! Is that Aerosoft Night Environment? Seems like FTX Vector road lights is mixed up there as well.
  20. Another issue is that some add-on airports uses its own set of runway lightning, meaning you can't change their appearance by adding the Runway_Mod to the P3D.Cfg file, nor use REX4 or REX Essential Overdrive to modify. FlyTampa for instance operates with custom runway lightning, and even though they have release different runway light sets, it certainly looks very similar and extremely over-dimensioned. Flightbeam has excellent runway lightning.
  21. Thanks for sharing. I thought you meant you had the "Tessalation" box un-ticked. Will try your settings and report back!
