  1. I am not convinced a 3080/3090 will meet your VR expectations Be ready to adapt to mediocre image quality for an overall great experience. We need faster CPUs to achieve real progress in VR.
  2. I can understand if one decides to cap framerate to keep the rate constant. But nobody has to cap the framerate to not utilize 100% of the GPU. If that would really be a goal, a lower level graphics card would be the much better option.
  3. Why buy an expensive CPU and GPU when you only use them at 50% performance. Just buy a cheaper CPU and GPU.
  4. It is really a good tool for data visualization and I can see many uses outside of the simulation purpose.
  5. I did find my 60 FPS settings by starting with every single setting turned off or turned down to the lowest possible state. Than I used the internal FPS counter from the developer mode to monitor CPU and GPU performance. I was interested in the max possible performance with this ultra low start settings and how much can I preserve while cranking up setting by setting. Goal is not so much the result, I equally enjoy exploring the settings and the possibilities.
  6. I like to play at 30 FPS and ultra fidelity in 4k. But I do not like to play at 30 FPS in my HP VR set. Sometimes I like the fluidity of 60 FPS on my 4k monitor as well. Most people think higher specced GPU's will reach them 60 FPS at 4k. But for now I do not think people reach 60 FPS at 100% renderscale. Especially I think the expectations for the 3080/3090 cards will not be met in this regard as well. Before faster CPUs will be available it will be probably not possible to reach 60 FPS at full scale rendered 4k. If you achieve 4k 60 FPS at 100% rendering scale on your system I am very interested in your settings and specs. For now and the forseeable future I asume it will regardless of your hardware need to include a rendering scale below 100 if you aim for the 60FPS. But the next gen NVIDIA is on the horizon, we will know soon for sure.
  7. Perhaps I left the system specs out because they are misleading in this case 😉
  8. Possible, but only if you go with render scale 50% It looks much better than true 1920x1080 but not quite as good as true 3840x2160 On some days I will fly at 30 FPS Ultra 4k On other days I will fly at 60 FPS High upscaled 4k
  9. Stick to the 8GB default. 0 GB and 244 GB are not a good idea and both will have bad results for your experience. With 0GB the sim does not quit instantly. With 244GB your start up times will be bad.
  10. You dont utilize the power of your GPU, that is why your CPU is at 100%. Up your graphics settings, you will not gain FPS but better looks without further decrease of FPS until your GPU is at 100%
  11. You should decrease your rendering to 80 or 70. But if your CPU is at 100% this setting will not change it, it will just increase the performance. Your CPU or your GPU will be at 100% (if you do not restrict FPS) all the time. If you want your CPU lower than 100% you increase the load for the GPU by increasing render scale for example until your GPU is at 100%, than your CPU will not be at 100% anymore because it has to wait for the GPU. But there is no real reason to do this. It is just the normal state that your GPU or your CPU are working at 100%. If your CPU is at 100% all the time because your settings are too low, you can increase your graphics settings without FURTHER performance decrease until the GPU is at 100%.
  12. increase the render # from 100 to 200, than your cpu will not be at 100% anymore, your gpu will be at 100% now
  13. I wanted to add a dcs joke, but OP was faster.
  14. The faster NVMe port (Gen3 x4 32GB/s versus Gen3 x2 16GB/s) makes a difference. Good that I moved my installation.
  15. Improved times 1.) -fastlaunch non-steam solution without intros 2.) moved installation to my faster nvme drive 3600x, 2x NVME drive, 1080ti, Nanwalek Airport, Ultra settings, 4k 2:21 (2:48) main menu 3:01 (3:20) cockpit total loading time 3:01 (times in bracket with normal start without -fastlaunch)
  16. I reinstalled to get rid of the manual cache file and to move my installation to the faster of my two NVME drives.
  17. Dont know if I really want to install orbix central bloatware on my PC for this. 😉
  18. Is the manual cache file created in the maximum size or is the maximum just a border variabel? In any case I do not understand why lowering the maximum size does not work at the moment even after deleting the manual cached regions.
  19. To compare loading times one should add location and graphics settings. (I just now switch my installation to my faster nvme drive to test if this has any impact.) It loads longer than P3D and it looks longer 😉
  20. Two controllers conflicting remove the double throttle binding you dont use or disable the controller temporarily, no need to disconnect
  21. 3600x & 2x NVME drive 3:20 main menu 0:37 cockpit total loading time 3:57
  22. I just followed your example with a flight in live weather over alaska. Nice experience!
