I haven' had too many issues with LNAV. VNAV can be troublesome. I think the FMS is genrally buggy, or at least it doesn't behave like the Flight Factor 757 (or the PMDG 737, but different plane of course). If you need to change a STAR for example, it doesn't delete you existin ine and just appends the new one to the flightplan. So you have to 'grab' the first waypoint and place it higher up the legs list where it should be as you would for a discontinuity (hope that makes sense, lol). There's a comprehensive tutorial that covers a C&D startup. By default it's not C&D and you can be ready with about a dozen mouse clicks (see Jim's post above). As for VC colour. Well it is brown! But some PTA presets can radically alter the VC colour unless you turn HDR off in sim. Most, if not all, panels pop out. I did a long haul flight on Monday. EINN-KBOS. Things went fine for 99% of the flight. But the landing was weird. It was like I was at minimums then suddenly the plane was on the runway. That hadn't happened before, or since. The official forums are quite lively right now. I'd rate it second to the Flight Factor 757 right now because of quirks/bugs. But it is more than useable and I'm sure it will be improved with further patches (they have already added fuel & payload into the FMS with hotfix 2 and that makes life alot easier.

I think PFPX (well TOPCAT really) assigns flaps according to airframe, runway length. For example, at EIDW I get flaps 1 for 736 & 737, but 5 for 738. The way around the STAR problem is to LSK the 1st STAR waypoint and move it up in the flightplan, overwriting whatever needs to be over-written (as you would do with a discontinuity). Maybe that's how its supposed to behave, but the PMDG 737 doen't behave like that and the FlightFactor 757 doesn't behave like that. Tire prices sound OUCH! Be glad you don't need a new GPU (like I do). Bleeping crypto-currency miners and all that...

For flaps 1 I'm going off PFPX/TOPCAT. Flaps 1 works fine in the Flight Factor 757. Maybe you're right and in the real world the 757 doesn't use flaps 1. My STAR problem is that the STAR gets appended to the flightplan, so I'd get, eg (much simplified) EGCC-(route)-EGPF-(STAR) instead of EGCC-(route)-(STAR)-EGPF. Bugs aside (and I'm a bit nervous about doing a trans-atlantic with it), it's a nice aircraft.

Well for all they've fixed I'm still having issues. I can't enter flaps 1 in the takeoff page of the FMC. CG is still broken. Sometimes I can't enter a D-TO temp. Also adding a SID/STAR to a flightplan messes things up. I'm sure they'll get it right (or nearly so) eventually. Best to put problems on their forum.

Remember that in something like a PMDG you have a lot less time to do things. So learning in a GA aircraft would be better in that regard. That said, it's a sim, so even when you mess up nobody gets hurt!

How about feelthere e-jets? (I don't think they're up to PMDG/Majestic standard though).

P2A Version 2.4.0.4_x64. P3DV4.1. AIRAC 1801. Step 1) Route: CYQB->CYUL (created in P2A auto-plan). Step 2) Connect to P3D Step 3) Validate and File flight plan. Step 4) Switch COM1 to CYQB Gnd (121.90) and then Request Clearance (set squawk code, etc). Step 5) Request Pushback and Engine Start. Step 6) Request Taxi. Silence. No response after a few minutes. I have to use windows task manager to 'End Task' on P2A. P2A logfile here: https://pastebin.com/HKQ9dvQE I've tried 5 times with this flight and the same thing happens eveytime.

Suggested route 2 does have a STAR (CAVLR3). PFPX gave me the following route (with SID and STAR). KJFK GREKI4 JFK DCT RBV HYPER7 KIAD. If you used Simbrief with KJFK RBV KIAD (Suggested route 1) and then put that into PROATCX or Pilot2ATC you would (probably) get a SID/STAR. I think sometimes, simbrief just wants to give you the shortest route..

Your first post states 4.2. 4.4 is not too bad. Definitely get a new GPU (I'd say GTX 1070 minimum, as others have said).

What cooler do you have? I'd have thought you could get more out of your 4770K. But definitely go for a GPU.

On Simbrief I get: Error: Unknown destination airport (RBV).

Perhaps HiFi are prioritising AS for X-Plane.
