  1. By the way, you yourself said that "AI is the proverbial word not allowed savant, and it just can’t be trusted with many technical subjects." Either you don't know how to prompt it, or it can't be trusted - which is it?
  2. I know how to ask an unambiguous question. Anyway, back to the thread: do you think that the AI response trumps stearmandriver's?
  3. I've never asked an AI tool an in-depth factual question regarding a subject about which I am reasonably knowledgeable and not received an incorrect answer.
  4. AI tools are untrustworthy when it comes to factual information. They frequently state falsehoods as if with absolute certainty. Nothing they say should be passed on without extensive questioning and research - which begs the question: why use them for factual queries in the first place? I accept they may have other uses - I have been told they're quite useful for generating code, for example.
  5. I agree. I would like to see a forum-wide ban on AI generated “information”, though.
  6. Fair enough. I’ve always understood it to mean the following, though (from Oxford Languages): “not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.”
  7. I completely agree with you about AI, but what you’re describing here is the opposite of “disingenuous”.
  8. Have you tried disabling "Fast Start-up"? That solved my sound issues. Open the Control Panel (the old-school one), go to "Hardware and Sound", then "Power Options", then "Choose what the power buttons do" (it's on the left), then uncheck the box next to "Turn on fast start-up"), then "Save Changes" and restart the computer. If the "Turn on fast start-up" option isn't there at first, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
  9. No, it wouldn't. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_737_Classic
  10. Do you have a Honeycomb Alpha? I had the same problem when trying to sign in to the Outlook website. I discovered that this is quite a common problem when certain switches on the Alpha are in certain positions.
  11. I'm getting no winds, and totally incorrect temperature and pressure in MSFS 2020. I definitely have real world weather enabled. Anyone else?
  12. It says here it’s a Phison E26: https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs/crucial-t700-4-tb.d1462
  13. Forgot to give credit to the source. When I've carried out tests in MSFS 2020, my system has displayed exactly the behaviour the commenter describes. The third paragraph is the pertinent one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/1j9fmz4/comment/mhi5s22/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
  14. I've discovered that simply turning on "high performance" mode in the Control Panel power settings (not the new Windows 11 settings) will still prioritise the cache ccd for the sim, while leaving the frequency ccd open for other tasks, so there's no need for Process Lasso. It's smoother than "balanced" mode, with higher fps in demanding scenarios with lots of background tasks. It consumes more power, but you can make use of all 16 cores in the 9950x3D. In summary: if you run a lot of background tasks, my advice is to get the 9950x3D and turn on "high performance" mode. If you just run the sim on its own, with no Vatsim, Simapppro, Stream Deck etc., you should just get the 9800x3D. The 9900x3D might be better than the 9800x3D if you have a lot of background tasks (and you run it in "high performance" mode), but will be worse than the 9800x3D if you are just running the sim, as it has 2 fewer 3D v-cache cores.
  15. Update: I used Process Lasso to move all processes except MSFS and Fenix to the frequency CCD. The AMD chipset drivers and Windows Game Bar ensured that the sim and plane remained on the 3D v-cache CCD. On Vatsim, arriving at a busy Gatwick, things seemed smoother. I was maintaining 65-70 fps. I shifted the processes back and forth as best I could while taxiing, and sequestering the tasks on the second CCD gained me about 5 fps (=2-3 fps without frame gen). This might not seem like much, but the difference can be felt at such low fps.
  16. I upgraded from a 7800x3d to a 9950x3d yesterday. On this particular PC, I only have a 75hz monitor, and I use frame generation with a 4080, so I was happy with my fps in general, but I wanted to improve the lows when I'm on Vatsim at a busy complex airport. Unfortunately, things seem to be the same as before. In the Fenix at mkvy's Gatwick, I am still going down to ~55fps at times. I thought the non-v-cache ccd might run things like Simapppro, Stream Deck software and Vpilot, but it's completely parked when I'm in the sim. I therefore suspect that a 9800x3d would achieve pretty much the same results. Edit: forgot to mention: this is on MSFS 2020. Second edit: All settings on Ultra
  17. Yep, mine took the same route, but still no update since it left the FedEx hub in Marly La Ville on Saturday morning.
  18. I’m in the UK. Mine arrived in Paris on Thursday. It left a FedEx hub near Paris on Saturday morning, and I’ve been given an estimate of next Monday for delivery. They must be walking it to the channel and swimming it over.
  19. It's arrived. It appears that poor communication regarding delivery is a trade-off for the good value of the products!
  20. I ordered and paid for the Winwing Airbus EFIS from the Winwing UK store in mid-December, and it still says "packing" on the website. Customer Service has refused to give me an estimate for when it will be sent to me. The product has been listed as in stock on the UK store the whole time. Has anyone else had a problem like this with Winwing UK? I'm wondering how long to give it before I have to give up and claim my money back.
  21. That would be fantastic. It would make it far better than much more expensive products.
