March 1, 200719 yr Ron,Thats gotta to be real heartbreak for you guys. Those P2P sites are causing the problems, not the software sellers just trying to protect themselves. Used to be installing software did not involve much in the way of registration, etc. Now it is getting really tough. On just about everything you buy. A real shame, but its the P2P sites that are to blame.

They are thinking selfishly about what they want at no cost, and never consider what they do to their fellow simmers who happen to be honest.Sort of like the Department Store thief who thinks his actions have no effect on honest consumers who have to make up the deficit caused by theft in higher costs to honest people.:-(

March 1, 200719 yr As an owner of countless payware addons (including Eaglesoft, as well as FSD), I have to say I had NO idea it was even possible to obtain pirated Flight Sim addons! I guess I imagined nobody amongst the simming fraternity would stoop to attempting to get hold of 'free' copies of commercial addons, much less actually have the audacity to 'crack' it in the first place. Presumably this is a naive thought.Given that this topic has become quite lengthy, I would reiterate my statements from earlier in the thread, that I myself never had a problem with FSD, or my purchases from them - and that I will be most tempted by their Saratoga when it is released. It is also good that Tim has stated that they did make mistakes in the past, but are keen to rectify them. Hopefully simmers who were unfortunate enough to have had a bad experience, can solve the problem now.Regards,Al.

March 1, 200719 yr Well, here we go again...Every time somebody opens the FSD can of worms on forums all over the place (including this one), any amount of people reply, telling stories of having had trouble with FSD and their jokey and somewhat paranoid install system.Over the years I have purchased their Commander 115, the Cub, the Navajo, the Porter, the Seneca and also the Cheyenne. I actually paid for some of them twice, due to being too impatient to wait for the free update for the next version of FS, which was always available a bit later than the full version. I never had any problems with that, FSD's aircraft are so good I just couldn't wait long enough to get the free upgrade. I started buying from FSD way back then when my FS computer was a P3 CPU machine with 512mb RAM and ME as OS (Those were the days, :-) )Somebody mentioned the fact that FSD should use the F1 wrapper system: Well in actual fact they used to a long time ago, the fact that I know that just shows how long I've been buying their stuff..But I digress..Anyway, you can probably guess the rest: After a run of bad luck with my hardware (two mainboards, three HDD's), new installs, a change of OS (to XP Pro), and the never-ending hardware upgrades always looking for that elusive "Holy Grail" in FS, I suddenly found myself having to beg FSD to give me the aircraft that I'd paid for, without success. (If anyone's interested, I still have all the reciepts printed out with date, order Nr. etc)After a lot of emails back and forth, including some vitriolic and insulting replies from one member of the FSD team who shall remain nameless, acusing me of having numerous computers, distributing copies to other people and all kinds of other funny stuff, I gave up on FSD.Then, after the personal intervention from Tom Allensworth, who I had the pleasure to meet personally in Hamburg a while ago (still owe you a beer Tom :-) ), FSD were gratious enough to give me my Cheyenne back,(as a special, one off gesture, no rights implied etc, etc) which I had for a while until I needed to re-install due to the next hardware upgrade (from a socket A AMD to a socket 939 AMD 64 as I recall)....and then the old old story: Please contact our support, error Nr. this, error Nr. that..yeah, yeah...The thing is, call me a sucker if you will, after a while I got over it, and thought: What the ####, forgive and forget, just buy them again! Didn't work though, my credit card or my email seems to be permanently blocked in their purchase system. I've been trying at regular intervals for about 2 years now, without success. Inbetween times I've bought any amount of stuff with the same card from other companies, using the same email, so it isn't a problem at my end. If I'd been able to, I'd certainly have bought the Cheyenne and the Porter again, and probably the 337 and the P180 too, FSD's stuff is really that good!I have for instance, with the same card and email, purchased 28 products using the F1 wrapper, also products from Aerosoft, simMarket, RealAirSimulations, Eaglesoft, Digital Aviation, SibWings etc, etc. I still have them all, and have re-installed any number of times without any problems at all.My FSD aircraft? All gone, gone, gone.. Over $130 down the tube...I was pleased to see the reply from Tim Dickinson, and his offer to the people who feel that they have a case in this matter. I shall certainly be taking him up on his offer, and am prepared to be pleasently surprised...FSD seems to have had a change of heart and understood that punishing and insulting their honest customers in an attempt to stamp out pirating of their products isn't the way to go. I certainly hope so, their stuff is amongst the very best, the visuals and gauge work are up there with RAS, F1,Digital Aviation, PMDG, Eaglesoft etc.,and Steve Smalls airfiles are magical, although his skill when writing support emails leaves a lot to be disired :-)It'd be nice when FSD could be normal again, I for one still miss the Cheyenne for instance. I hope this story has a happy end, really I do.FSD, get real and come in out of the cold :-)Best regardsGrahame Myers

March 1, 200719 yr Well, credit where credits due! A few hours after sending Tim Dickens a mail explaining my position, I got a reply with links to all my FSD aircraft.I'm delighted that FSD seems to've seen the light, and am glad to have my aircraft back. I can't wait for the FSX updates from their aircraft! If my treatment today is anything to go by, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, their aircraft are second to none. I just hope they've remembered to unblock my Visa card :-)BestGrahame Myers
March 1, 200719 yr That's very good to hear Grahame. I have all FSD aircraft save for the T-38/C-17 combo and like all of them. I can't say I've never had problems with a reinstall but I can say I have always been able to work out the problem and get all my paid for FSD aircraft installed whether it be on a new computer or restored OS. Tim, Steve, and Jim are all very talented at what they do and I look forward to seeing their next aircraft released in the near future. Your experience should help soften some of the flaming that has occurred and I would like to see FSD have a happy future with all sim enthusiasts. March 1, 200719 yr I'd be happy with a cast iron guarantee that I could successfully buy and install the O-2A. And the Porter V2. If my blacklisting was lifted after my Avanti fiasco then I'd buy them both in a heartbeat, but ..........
