I'm now 94% complete but my connection to the server died: The server returned an error response: 403 = Forbidden

:( Yup, I should have listened to you and hit the bed. At 72% I am now getting the error code 403 - forbidden, aborting...that usually means that it is game over, better luck next time, bye-bye, adios amigo, do not pass go, do not collect $200 because the front fell off...http://www.break.com/index/the-front-fell-off.html Spirit Flyer :(

SpiritFlyer, I spotted this over at the REX forums.Edit: Ok, just this from another user that if you do clear your cash you'll still be able to resume your download from where you left off. * Cancel the download and tell the app you will continue downloading later. Exit the FSS2Go app.* In "\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\GetRightToGo" delete the files you will find there.* Run the app again and it will ask whether you want to keep the previous files. Say yes, it will check integrity and continue with the next file in the batch.I did this and was able to resume my download successfully.

I just finished mine, and I'm in the process of installing now, which seems to be another long process!!!

Thanks

Some opinions and screenshots would be nice. I would like to be sure this is better than FEX before messing up with my FSX installation. :( Cheers.

I don't think anyone has it installed yet, I just finished download and am now just installing it, which as I said is a long process unwrapping all those files just downloaded. Then they still need to be installed to FSX itself!Edit: Here's another hurdle we have to jump through. The installation will fail after the unwrapping process, if your resolution is less than 1024x768. Mine was 1280x720, which evidently is smaller, so I have to go through the unwrapping again.

Thanks

How in the heck are the individual .dat files spread across the servers?I started the download over 10 hours ago then left for work. When I came home about 2 hours ago, my download had stalled completely during r1.dat. After reading this thread, I did what was recommended in the REX forum. I had to redownload my original installer FOUR TIMEs from my Flightsim Store account before I got anything to start working right. I finally managed to download r1.dat and r2.dat at a steady speed of 1.58MB/sec. I was thrilled....Then it went to start downloading the r3.dat file. Every time I connect for that one, I start at 1.58MB/sec, then it immediately drops to around 28K/sec. This is crazy. I'm showing over 25 HOURS to finish this darn thing. I'm on a 3MB/sec dedicated Cable connection. I should have known better. Despite all the promises of good download results, this is totally rediculous. You could have mailed the darn CD to me faster using Overnight Express.I've never had any real problems with purchases/downloads from the Flightsim Store before, but if it really takes me over 24 hours to download this thing on my 3MB/sec Cable connection, it WILL be the last purchase I make from them. Somebody needs to do a sanity check in the future with a release like this, and make sure there is enough bandwidth to accomodate the pruchasers who DO shell out their money to buy it as soon as it is released...without having to spend one and one-half days downloading it. If I had a dial-up connection, it would be MY fault. But I don't.Totally frustrated right now.FalconAFEDIT: Geez! I haven't had this much fun since the preparation for my last colonoscopy...(I blew a lot of "hot air" during that also while spending 8 hours on "The Great White Porcelien God" in my other room). :( After 3 more attempts following the same instructions I used several times from the Flightsim Store post, Im back to downloading at 1.58MB/sec again. In the middle of r5.dat and downloader says only 12 minutes to go. Keeping my fingers crossed. Sincerely sorry for the "rant" above. Had a bad night at work, too. My apologies to Flightsim Store and any others here. It was just SOOOOO frustrating at the time with the problems I was encountering.

Totally frustrated right now.
I was quite frustrated after I got halfway through and had to restart it. I spent about 7 hours overnight downloading and installing REX. I think it may have been best to have this DVD-only, or at least have a single download like the rest of the FSS products so we can use our own download manager.Initial reaction is mixed. It is far far better than default. From what I saw of FEX, it is probably equivalent to that. I don't really have a computer that can run either with flying colors so it probably isn't a fair comparison. The sky textures impressed me more than any other part.It seems I am having some sort of incompatibility with my graphics card or drivers because no one else is reporting the issue I am having. Something is making my screen flicker and show weird lines when the theme installer is converting textures. Because this can last 5 minutes or so, it is quite annoying. But in the end, all I would do is sit there and wait for the GUI to finish its thing anyways, flickering or not.If you are considering REX or FEX, at this point I would say go with REX because it offers way more for the money.

Right now I'me averaging about 650K/sec and the estimated time of delivery is 1:38:07 and I already have about 500MB downloaded. So I would suggest you guys hit the pause/resume button a couple of times and see if it connects you to a better server. If I had to guess the fall over from server to server may not be working as intended and instead of it kicking you to another server it's leaving you on an over loaded server. Good luck can't wait till tomorrow after work to install and check this out.If I understand correctly we shouldn't need to uninstall anything? Simply go into FEX and restore defaults, then install this addon correct? I hope it ends up being that easy lol, can't wait guys thanks for the release, and good luck to anyone still having issues.
I woke up this morning with nothing downloaded, but read the Vista "fix" below. That seems to have done it for me and I now have 2:37-hoping it completes this time.

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I dunno about having to redownload the installer to get it working again, that makes no sense to me.But I have had to restart it several times when it seems to hang.Still quicker than mail. Here's what I think about complaining about it taking 24 hours or whatever...Get a grip people!Far too many people nowadays are mis-conditioned to want and think they should get everything right away, instantly, without delay. That aint the real world.I have no beefs with this taking a day...the whole point to having a d/l manager,no?
