Who is First Class Simulations?

Featured Replies

I have absolutely no idea how these mailings happen so I'm not accusing anyone. I get spam all the time. I am registered at Just Flight with the same email address though, anyone else in the same situation?

I don't think it was AVSIM, I do think AVSIM is a good place to bring this issue up... after all, AVSIM cares more about our community than most.I want to know whom provided this company my email address, so I can cease doing business with them. :(

Hold it. Before you accuse AVSIM of this, you had better have your facts straight. We do not harvest or sell email addresses. Never have and never will. Are you sure you want to accuse AVSIM of providing your email to a third party? There are a number of other sites that DO sell their reader's email, but not AVSIM.
I'm not accusing anybody, I was just pointing out a commonality. I just want to find out why this happened.

Why the paranoia about this? I get more junk mail through snail-mail than through e-mail. Yhose who send it by snail-mail know my full address not just a fairly anonymous e-mail address.

The email address I received mine under is only used for Avsim, I created it when Avsim asked for a non-anonymous email address when they changed their forum policies several years ago. I don't receive email thru it except when contacted by a forum mod, neither did I receive junk until the First Class sim message. I don't think Avsim had anything to do with this, but someone certainly got a hold of the email address thru deceptive means. I also just got an email at my hotmail address (which is my "spam bait" address, but also it's the address I used to register at Flightsim.com). I don't normally get sim related email there outside of companies I have already done business with.

I also received this...I hate spam....

i got it 3 times on one acct.... this is pissing me off....

But why are you so concerned that one of your e-mail addrersses is known. As I said previously, my home address fror snail-mail is widely known.

Don't think that is the issue. My address is not a big secret either, but what is interesting, is that this is the first Flight Simulator spam?! I got one too and as far as I can remember, I have never received any FS related spam ever. Very odd indeed. And no, I won't be getting the MD-11 now! :(

I don't get junk snail mail ads for porn, Viagra, phishing, dating and so on at my home address (maybe in the U.K. that's allowed, but you don't see it in the States). I don't get them on any of my "safe" email addresses which don't get circulated to the public. Maybe what you get doesn't concern you, but it lacks common sense to assume others aren't concerned. Once the floodgates open it's hard to shut them back down. And I should add, you obviously have concerns for your privacy, since I've never seen a name attached to your posts or replies :)John

What's interesting here is that my girlfriend (same house, totally different email) got one of these in addition to myself. Now that's just scary. She's never purchased a flight simulator product in her life. We're going to try to find out where she's been, but generally she's not registered for any flight sim sites that I know of.

FWIW- The First Class Simulations spam came to my wife's Email address on her computer- the same address I used on my M/C until about 3 years ago. At that time I set up my own Email address- which is used correctly by AVSIM for notices, PMs etc. I did NOT receive this spam on that more recent address. So it would seem that this Spam does NOT come via AVSIM's files. Unless a very old AVSIM file has fallen into wrong hands.Alex Reid

I recd two emails from First Class Simulations. So, I thought I'd do something about it. After first checking the website out on Google I visited the site and left the following message using their contact us form."Dear sirI recently received an unsolicited email from your company regarding the PMDG MD-11. A number of people at the avsim.com forums have also recd similar emails and we are all wondering how you managed to get hold of our email addresses. I'm pretty certain that I have never had any business with your company before nor have I signed up to any mailing list. As you know spam mail is a big concern with many people and a company that uses spam can get a poor reputation very quickly. It would probably be wise of you to explain yourself to the members of avsim.Thank you"It will be interesting to see their reply. The website certainly seems legitimate and it looks like the email sendout was done by Sourcewise LTD on behalf of First Class Simulations so for the moment I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

That is much more diplomatic than I would have been, well we will wait and see.
