Who is First Class Simulations?

I don't get junk snail mail ads for porn, Viagra, phishing, dating and so on at my home address (maybe in the U.K. that's allowed, but you don't see it in the States). I don't get them on any of my "safe" email addresses which don't get circulated to the public. Maybe what you get doesn't concern you, but it lacks common sense to assume others aren't concerned. Once the floodgates open it's hard to shut them back down. And I should add, you obviously have concerns for your privacy, since I've never seen a name attached to your posts or replies :)John
I don't get porn ec.. on my only, widely known, e-mail address whichI use both professionally and personally But maybe that's because I signed up with a reutable ISP that provides first-class spam filtering. The name I use here is just as valid as the name you choose to use, so that hare won't run.

Another question, is why are PMDG allowing their product to be sold by a spammer? Has anyone mentioned this to PMDG?I have a firm policy of not purchasing from a company that supports spamming. Not that I was looking at getting the MD11, but I certainly won't be now.

I started getting junk from them too just recently. Like I really care about the MD-11 for FS9. At that rate I guess the NGX for FSX should be released around armageddon. To the junk box.

Yes, I started to quote several poster that posted before me, as my story is very similar. I got this solicitation at my personal email address AND at my WORK email address that I DO NOT do ANY FS- related business with. As you can imagine, Im a bit ticked about this. This needs to be gotten to the bottom of and someone needs to be dealt with. This is the first time Ive ever recieved somthing at my work address from any type of FS related items and it creeps me out just a bit.

"Is this FSX or FS9, I can't tell anymore???"

LOL... How do you pronounce "mgh" -- magahh? I'm signed up on Cox which is a fairly reputable isp here in the States, but point is I still don't expect spam sent to an address which is supposed to be private, spam filters only go so far. I think you're comparing apples and oranges trying to equate a physical home address to email. Seems you're looking for a way to justify what first class did or at least dilute people's concern. As usual, trying to throw cold water on a thread--what else is new. -John

Not sure what the law's like outside of the UK, but here in the UK, under the conditions of the Data Protection Act an individual has a right to request from a third party where their contact details have been obtained from. Many companies/organisations sell or rent their mailing lists to others as a way of generating income, however someone has already stated catagorically that Avsim don't do this.My suggestion to anyone who has concerns is they contact the company concerned and politely request where they obtained your details from.

I too got this email advertising the MD-11... :(

PMDG does not share customer email addresses with any third party. PMDG stands by its privacy statement which is published on the PMDG web site at http://www.precisionmanuals.com/priv/pages/copypriv.html.:Precision Manuals Development Group maintains a rigid policy that no money or traded benefit may be received from the sale, trade or sharing of customer information collected during purchase. PMDG will not sell nor offer for sale any information related to customers, customer demographics or customer purchasing behavior in any form to any organization outside of PMDG. Information collected from customers is maintained only for the purpose of purchase transaction and order fulfillment and will not be collected, massed or otherwise manipulated for any purpose other than the purpose for which it is collected. The only exception to this policy is that PMDG customer information may be used to contact customers on occasion with critical information related to their purchased PMDG software.PMDG restricts customer information to only need-to-know members within PMDG and no private customer information will be published or otherwise made available.PMDG will, for the purpose of assisting law enforcement agencies in the investigation of a crime, make specific information available regarding customer behavior and customer purchases only at the request of a bona-fide law enforcement agency. PMDG will also authorize the use of customer information while in the pursuit of Intellectual Property Rights violations of US, Virginia and International law.

So, why are we all getting unsolicited email from a company we've never heard from and apparently no one's given them our email addresses. :(
I guess the next question is whether you've exchanged emails with anyone who is an Avsim member. I've been thinking and I know I have exchanged emails with some of the moderators here. And when I was a mod myself, the same is true with some of the members here. The only possibility I can think of now is one or more of their mailboxes was compromised by malware, perhaps written specifically for the hobby and installed by a visit to one of the many simming sites. -John

I've sent an email that had been received by several AVSIM members at the end of last month, but from a different email address that has not received any spam.I have not used the email address I have received the FC spam at to communicate between other members in the community.
I recd two emails from First Class Simulations. So, I thought I'd do something about it. After first checking the website out on Google I visited the site and left the following message using their contact us form."Dear sirI recently received an unsolicited email from your company regarding the PMDG MD-11. A number of people at the avsim.com forums have also recd similar emails and we are all wondering how you managed to get hold of our email addresses. I'm pretty certain that I have never had any business with your company before nor have I signed up to any mailing list. As you know spam mail is a big concern with many people and a company that uses spam can get a poor reputation very quickly. It would probably be wise of you to explain yourself to the members of avsim.Thank you"It will be interesting to see their reply. The website certainly seems legitimate and it looks like the email sendout was done by Sourcewise LTD on behalf of First Class Simulations so for the moment I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Guys,I received this spam to every single one of my email address, most of which have never been used in any way relating to flight sim, including my personal one that I don't give to anyone but family and close friends. We have no idea where they're getting their address list from but it most assuredly is not from PMDG and I doubt it's Avsim either given the fact that addresses not associated with the site (which I'll personally attest to) are getting spammed. We deal with one company for our boxed products and that's Aerosoft - we don't determine at all who sells or markets the boxed version, we just license the product to Aerosoft and they essentially create that product themselves and distribute it to resellers and retailers. (which is probably what this spam company is classified as)Not much we can do - I'll ask Robert about contacting Aerosoft to see if we can get any more information on who's behind this.

Look on the bright side, guys. At least these emails aren't asking if you want to "increase the size of your PMDG MD-11" :(
