Who is First Class Simulations?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,This email was generated at my end, the list is nothing to do with AvSim and contains email addresses collected via various programs released over the years. Your privacy is respected I would anticipate a small percentage of you guys will of recieved it.The email is an advertisment on behalf of FirstClass Simulations, which I have done free of charge to test some new mailing software. There is an "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the mailing list, if you click that it will instantly remove your address from the database here and you will never recieve anymore.First Class Simulations/Contact Sales are a large company here in the UK and Europe, unfortunatly my mail list does not allow me to filter via country...If you recieve more than one I would be very interested to here from you, because that should not happen, it could be a problem within the mailserver built to spool these emails out.I must stress its not related to AvSim :-)Any other queries feel free to PM me :-)

In 1843 the British historian Lord Macaulay wrote:"We know of no spectacle more ridiculous as the British people in one of its periodic fits for morality."Substitute Avsim members for British public and it seems to me to be as true as ever. It's only a single spam e-mail offering a reputable product - it's not the end of the world as we know it after all

The fact is, you used an illegal method to test your mailing software. I totally disagree with opt-out systems of this nature, a lot of which on the Internet are designed purely to determine activity on an e-mail account. By clicking on the opt-out link, the spammer knows the account is active and the address is marked as valuable. You have generated a list and created a study population that has not consented to participation in your test.It is up to you to make sure that the list is destroyed and that we do not received unwanted communications from you or FCS again. Create an opt in system. Post and ask people if they wish to help out with a mail test... that way you will get better feedback and no threats of legal action! If I receive any further communications from this source, I may well consider legal action against you and First Class Simulations. I do not care for unwanted mail, as many here also do not.I have been working as a systems manager in IT for a few years now. Security is a major part of the task, particularly as I work in a large hospital. Spam on accounts may be a lesser evil, but it is a real time killer, amounting yearly for millions of hours in lost productivity.Andrew

I guess the next question is whether you've exchanged emails with anyone who is an Avsim member. I've been thinking and I know I have exchanged emails with some of the moderators here. And when I was a mod myself, the same is true with some of the members here. The only possibility I can think of now is one or more of their mailboxes was compromised by malware, perhaps written specifically for the hobby and installed by a visit to one of the many simming sites.
I actually haven't, and I received this e-mail as well.

So how are other people's wives/girlfriends receiving these e-mails as well?

Hi Guys,.....This email was generated at my end, the list is nothing to do with AvSim and contains email addresses collected via various programs released over the years.......
I've never done business with First Class... Please define "collected via various programs released over the years". The first email address to which I received your advertisement isn't used outside of Avsim so how did it end up in your friggin' hands. You have an obligation to provide us a less cryptic answer. Edit: Also, you show up as a Root Admin here at Avsim, which means you have access to all of our email addresses. I think Tom should look into this.

I can supply this information, you will need to send an email to [email protected] - All email sources are stored, and for the benefit of the other guy who mentioned "spam awareness", this is not some two-bit spam company..... Click the bloody unsubscribe link and you will never have a problem again, because when you do that, the DB entry is deleted, instantly......I will not be fueling accusation and insinuation again on this thread, if you wish to find more information simply follow the instructions above.Regarding Root Admin, This capacity is for updating the library which we are working very hard on, infact it has taken so long to get everything setup that DB access was only sorted this morning, it is not helpful to find out that the very community whom I am writing the new library and configuring the new servers for will jump to such narrow minded conclusions so quickly.

I should not have received an email in the first place. IT IS NOT MY FRIGGIN' OBLIGATION TO USE YOUR "BLOODY UNSUBSCRIBE" LINK to further validate an email address you had no business using. Nuff' said. I don't give a hoot about your belief this is "fueling accusation and insinuation". This mailing should have never gone out and especially given your association with Avsim you should have known better than to have placed yourself in such a conflict of interest. I am a former mod here, so I don't need to be lectured by you.Let me ask you this--if I have corresponded with you in the past on an Avsim related matter, would that be enough to end up in your list? That is the only correspondence I would have ever had with you, in your capacity working with the library here.

+1 :(

I got this as well. My e-mail address hasn't changed in forever and I've been buying add-ons and registering in forums for countless years now. Who knows where they got it from. No big deal for me. My e-mail server is wide open, so I get tons of spam. I was happy to see one that was relevant to my interests for a change! :(

I've received at least three emails from First Class Simulations. Two were for the PMDG 747 and the third was for the PMDG MD-11. The first one came in as normal email which I labeled as spam. The next two were then put into the spam filter.I've only received this in my gmail account, which is the one I use for AVSIM, FlightSim.com and other simulation business. It's NOT showing up the my Yahoo email account, which has never been used for any simulation related use. So SOMEHOW you got mine and others email addresses from AVSIM or FlightSim or some other simulation related website (PC Aviator?). Since I NEVER buy anything from unsolicited emails or even OPEN them for that matter, it's not a very smart business practice. Only idiots do business with someone they've never heard of or been cold contacted by, email, mail or telephone, doesn't matter. :(

I'm sorry you look down on those "two-bit" spam companies. I fail to see any difference from your actions and those who want to sell me other products. And I'm very sorry to say that your involvement with the Avsim hardware at minimum creates the impression of a serious conflict of interest with your spamming business.I did hit the unsubscribe link in your spam message. I hope it works as you say, because your comments garner no credibility in my book.

Since I never subscribed... I shouldn't have to unsubscribe.I do want to know, and I expect it to be stated publicly, where and how you obtained my email address. Whatever method was utilized is pretty certain to be considered inappropriate.

I NEVER hit an unsubscribe link in any email, unless it's from a trusted source. That just gives them even more information and verifies to them that they have a live, active email address, a common trick of spammers! Embedded pictures are another way that they can tell if they have a live account if you open those too! (many email programs allow you to display text-only for this reason and to also reduce download times) :(
