June 17, 200916 yr Agreed, I didn't like the arcade-style/mini-game missions at all, they aren't focusing much on the commercial aspect of it anymore. I do love the "managing the airline" and "buy and sell things" idea though! What really worried me is that they mentioned online gaming too much, which is my worst fear. I want to keep it a standalone game, not an online community all of a sudden. June 17, 200916 yr same especially because i never can get online until really late due to the servers being overloaded at sane hours of the day
June 17, 200916 yr I hope I am not breaking any rules or anything. I can't figure out why the last thread FS11 wish list was closed though.Just to make sure nothing is repeated to much and things aren't forgotten by developrs and users here is a link to the old thread:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=63440One thing I want to see in FSvNext is:*One model for the external and internal cockpit, that way we can go inside the plane from the outside like the "competitor".*Gate numbers on each of the parking spots. *I want to see a virtual world with a foot mode where you can walk around*Since there are points for doors on each plane in FSX, this should be possible. With a walking mode we should have airstairs where the pilot can walk off the ground into the cabin. *No more excuses, if we have a new rebuilt game engine, there should be virtual cabins with seats for the default planes*If possible make a career mode where you start at the bottom and climb high.*If you can't make a virtual terminal for most airports, can we have a little thing before each flight where we are in something like an office, getting a briefing (Put a map and a nav log on a piece of virtual paper :(, and show the weather on a piece of paper, because voice might be too much) and then walk to a jetway and board the plane?*I want to see passengers at the airport and I want to see them through the windows of the jetways which brings something up*Make better jetways, have an option to make them opaque or clear.*Planes react to winds on the ground, like real life. I want to see the plane sway left and right with strong winds. Also it would be nice to see the aircraft bounce up and down a bit more if you step on the brakes like real life. Same for airliners... If you have seen airliners do smooth landings, some of them bounce up and down, and it has a unique look.*The concept of the learning center in FSX was great, and it helped new and old pilots learn and/or refresh their memory on how lift works, what the instruments, are etc. I hope there is something like this in the next version, but hopefully with updated lessons, because the ones in FSX look like they were developed for FS2002 or 2004 or something, and when you pause, you don't hear the instructor anymore B). Yes, the passengers in the TS2 betas looked very good! Your talk about pre-flight inspection gave me an idea.Make better checklists. No more "press CTRL +E", TEACH the user how to start the engine and where the starter and fuel switch/know is. I know this has been asked but I do not want this to be forgotten :). Include a real FMS in at least 1 airliner if possible. (The whole thing, simulated autopilot, Flight management computer, TCAS, etc[.) I wanna see more 3D!! :(. With a new game engine it should be very easy to push more polygons than what we have in FSX today, with possibly better performance. I want to see 3D needles in the altimeter! More 3D knobs, etc. Please have an option for panel backlighting and dome lighting. It is annoying to have the dome light come on when I turn on panel lights. It makes it hard to see outside at night! Fix propeller and turbofan animations. I do not know if its just my FSX, but when I watch FS2004 and X-Plane, the transitions when moving the RPM of the propellers are very smooth and look realisitc, in FSX it looks like it was broken and the propeller moves in all wacko directions now. Also I when I push the throttle up in a turbofan aircraft, I want to see the fan transition smoothly and not erratically like FSX, for some planes it does even look like the fan is changing speed! B) Add an option for the windshield to become foggy, icy, etc Add more animals! The animals in FSX were great, but I only saw them in missions. I have yet to find them in free flight. Lets have birds and allow bird dung to get on the window :( Windshield wipers! Better bump mapping. It would be cool to see the genuine stretched metal look A great save feature where you get a preview of the thumbnail.Just had a vision with some good ideas, don't if its too much though: Option for the plane to get dirty. If you fly bush planes and land on a gravel road, it would be nice to see the belly of the aircraft get an overlay texture with dust and dirt on the belly Have an option to wash your plane! I think there should be an autosave option after each flight, or it should ask you "Would you like to save your flight" before ending. That way when you come back next time, you can fly your dirty plane, or you can wash it. It doesn't have to be like a real car wash. Something like Gran Turismo where its like a showroom and your aircraft spins and hit "Wash my plane" or something. Allow the rain to wash the aircraft. Improve the HDR/Light Bloom. Optimize pretty please? No more "bubble plane". I presume this is currently because of 2D clouds, but when you fly through dense clouds, it should be hard to see the wings. When it rains, or when we are flying through precipitation, we shouldn't see a circle in front of us with no rain! (Check out the rain post in the old thread: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...&p=1553890)http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...t&p=1553890 I can not believe I forgot this! Add an option for motion blur. It would be awesome to see the trees blur as you fly down the runway at 100 knots. This will also improve the sense of speed. Oh man these are funny. I don't know after working in the airline industry and now being back in GA, I don't think I would want to come home and play a game that simulated life and the line. I already have a life there is no need to sit on a computer and do another life. Chris Miller
June 17, 200916 yr i think some of these are apealing to people who dont have the opportunity to do such in real life and therefore want it in the simulator :(
June 18, 200916 yr Author Oh man these are funny. I don't know after working in the airline industry and now being back in GA, I don't think I would want to come home and play a game that simulated life and the line. I already have a life there is no need to sit on a computer and do another life. How does this simulate "life", this is purely focused on aviation? Some people can not afford to go to flight school and buy/rent a plane, and sometimes the simulator is the only thing they have to see how flying would be... These are great features anyway. They are not*Allow the pilot to walk to McDonalds and eat*Allow the pilot to score girls at the bar*Add a feature where the pilot has bladder and you have to walk to the toilet when its fullTHAT is life, my last requests are just to make it more realistic, not make it Flight Simulator meets the Sims.i think some of these are apealing to people who dont have the opportunity to do such in real life and therefore want it in the simulator :(Well said :(. June 20, 200916 yr Author I know this may be a bit much, but today I was thinking about how aircraft are tested and it brought a great idea.It would be awesome to have a small "test" mode where it analyzes engine data and shows the thrust being produce with the conditions. Kind of like when airplane manufactures test the airplane and put chocks in it and open the thrust. I think a small custom airfield for this testing would be nice. June 24, 200916 yr Heres first what i think should not be done with FS11..I see a lot of people asking for some pretty ridiculous things in the next fs. People in the terminal, trees blowing from jet exhaust, pick which seat you want to sit in and what meal, and especially CRASH EFFECTS. Lets not get carried away. This is FLIGHT simulator not CRASH simulator or world simulator where you can talk to people in the terminal and and make a house with blowing trees. This to me is all usless stuff that would make an even greater frame rate hit. Just play the Sims or something. Id rather see more focus on realism in the flying and display aspect. 1) FRAMES FRAMES FRAMES!!! i want to ENJOY the simulation experience. not watch a slide show2) Weather needs to be updated as much as possible (big cells you can see in the distance, gradual wind and visibilty changes...)3) ATC should be redone! No more robot voices, better separation of traffic, and a few more options4) AI gets off the runway faster..Slow @$$e$ make me do a go around that takes another 45 to land!5) Lighting and shadows. I want to feel the difference when i climb through an overcast sky and punch through to pure sunlight6) a pushback mode where when you pushback you can Stear the aircraft and not press 1 or 2 and guess when it will turn7) a view mode where you can freewalk or set a "spotter" view runway-side which they rid of in FSX8) ....and MAYBE a built-in quick in-game airport and scenery editor to edit taxiways or runways and maybe objects you just dont want there..click on a taxiway sign..move it or edit what it says. click and remove a tree..ectIm sure im forgetting a couple of things but other than that i think everything else should be left to 3rd party
July 13, 200916 yr Author Hello again everyone. Haven't been on the forums in a while because I am away from home in CT. I hope to get back soon.I thought that it would be cool to have: a redesigned HQ pushback truck People at the ramps that oversee the pushback process It would be nice to have an option in which you call for pushback! Option for a follow me car. A gauge or something that you could access in each aircraft that has an airport chart and the location of each gate, and the information is taken directly from FSX. Kind of like the Airport Gauge addon in the file library. See You In The Skies...gman!"Impossible things are simply those which so far have never been done." - Elbert Hubbard
July 13, 200916 yr have a panel for doors and animations etc like in some payware addons but in the default aircraftModel the interior of heavy's, have the option to view parts of the flight as a passengerBe able to contact ATC in emergencies, tell them the failure or request emergency clearance to a runway
July 13, 200916 yr Bunch of interesting ideas here, yet they all seem to be geared toward the tube fliers. What about us bush fliers?I want water that acts like water. Better modeled water handling characteristics. No need to give it full throttle just to get moving, and planes that don't just stop moving when you set throttle to idle. How about rivers and streams that flow? How about snow that looks and acts like snow, not white concrete. Things like drifts and having snow have a depth to it. I have seen RW video of planes equipped with straight floats landing on and taking off of glaciers. Try that in the sim. These environmental type changes would mean far more to me than flight line operations that have little to do with the actual flying aspect of the sim.Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
July 13, 200916 yr i agree i mentioned the snow thing earlierFly into the alps mid winter, and the plane doesn't sink an inch, even when stopped?!
July 13, 200916 yr And now for a contrarian view!Sim perfection for me would be a multi monitor (3-5 mons) replica of a commercial simulator. It would display only those elements that would be seen by a pilot INSIDE a real simulator. 1. Multiple integrated views yielding a minimum 140
July 14, 200916 yr I would like to see..Walk to your aircraft from terminal building through jetway..Volcanic eruption.Volcanic ash causes damage to aircraft.Sloped runways.animated 3D People in cabin and terminal.Birdstrike.Engine Heat effect.First officer .Play the role of the first officer.AI Traffic with animated wheels. Both takeoff and landing waterspray
July 14, 200916 yr Many of the suggestions are pretty much useless. See people in the terminal? You have to be kidding. That's really one of your top improvements for the next sim? Lets bring this back down to earth and suggest more realistic and useful ideas that would make a better FLIGHT sim.Better plane dynamics in the airSmarter AIBetter ATCBetter frictions with the various grounds/waterOptimized engine for better fpsEverything else can be handled with add-ons and most is already possible, like more advanced planes, 'people on the ramp', walking around, management...etc etc. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
