FSvNext Wish List

Featured Replies

I hope I am not breaking any rules or anything. I can't figure out why the last thread FS11 wish list was closed though.Just to make sure nothing is repeated to much and things aren't forgotten by developrs and users here is a link to the old thread:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=63440One thing I want to see in FSvNext is:*One model for the external and internal cockpit, that way we can go inside the plane from the outside like the "competitor".*Gate numbers on each of the parking spots. *I want to see a virtual world with a foot mode where you can walk around*Since there are points for doors on each plane in FSX, this should be possible. With a walking mode we should have airstairs where the pilot can walk off the ground into the cabin. *No more excuses, if we have a new rebuilt game engine, there should be virtual cabins with seats for the default planes*If possible make a career mode where you start at the bottom and climb high.*If you can't make a virtual terminal for most airports, can we have a little thing before each flight where we are in something like an office, getting a briefing (Put a map and a nav log on a piece of virtual paper :(, and show the weather on a piece of paper, because voice might be too much) and then walk to a jetway and board the plane?*I want to see passengers at the airport and I want to see them through the windows of the jetways which brings something up*Make better jetways, have an option to make them opaque or clear.*Planes react to winds on the ground, like real life. I want to see the plane sway left and right with strong winds. Also it would be nice to see the aircraft bounce up and down a bit more if you step on the brakes like real life. Same for airliners... If you have seen airliners do smooth landings, some of them bounce up and down, and it has a unique look.*The concept of the learning center in FSX was great, and it helped new and old pilots learn and/or refresh their memory on how lift works, what the instruments, are etc. I hope there is something like this in the next version, but hopefully with updated lessons, because the ones in FSX look like they were developed for FS2002 or 2004 or something, and when you pause, you don't hear the instructor anymore :(.

:( Seems all those suggestions are either already possible with add-ons or involve more eye-candy.I would just like a smoother sim with optimized performance, with better air and plane physics :(

Hi gManYou're full of ideas are you :(

*If you can't make a virtual terminal for most airports, can we have a little thing before each flight where we are in something like an office, getting a briefing (Put a map and a nav log on a piece of virtual paper :(, and show the weather on a piece of paper, because voice might be too much) and then walk to a jetway and board the plane?
This is one I agree with, maybe not the the next simulator but a separate addon.Missions that simulate the aspect of flying the line. Perhaps custom scenarios created and shared with the community.Nothing like FS Passengers. Line pilots don't handle maintenance prices, feeding the passengers sandwiches or show the movie.More like detailed weather, nav and notams in the beginning. Delays, de-icing (holdover times), staying below max to weight, handling medical emergencies, possibly diversions etc etc .. Decision making which is all reviewed at the end of the flight! Now that would make things more interesting.

Jet, I agree with you. A completely immersive line experience, from your first day on, making captain (including training), to retirement. That'd be the shiz.

Well first off, I know this has been repeated but I hope there'll BE an FSvNext!OK, but when there is, I'd like to see:-More realistic lighting. Enough with lights being giant puffballs. I'd like to see a realistic pinpoint of light on the end of my wings and on my plane. During night taxiing, I want to see my lights--not just the landing lights--light up the ground. When I fly through a cloud, which should be made true 3D (i.e., giving the cloud an internal space), I want to see my strobes light up the cloud. And burnt out lights--in FS98 you could set realism to burn out the planes lights! Also better ground and city lighting. I remember in FS98 where you could see street lights as tiny orange pinpoints of light. Let's make this better in FSnext, and let's eliminate the splotches of light on the scenery instead.-More ground/airport vehicle-to-plane interaction. I would like to see the fuel truck actually come to the plane. Let's see the catering truck service my plane, or watch the bus come and pick up passengers, which brings me to;-PASSENGERS!!! TS2 had a great platform for 3D passengers and I'd like to see this in the next FS version. I want to see passengers in the airport terminal through the windows, and see them in the jetway. I would like to be able to walk about my virtual cabin and see passengers doing all kinds of activities, like sleeping, watching a movie, having refreshments, etc. So 3D passengers and FSPassengers-like passenger interaction would be nice.-No more popping autogen. A new game engine is due.-True to life road, landmark, coastline, and scenery-to-ground textures alignment. I would like to be able to trace the route from the airport to Denver downtown, or possibly to my house from the airport as I know it in real life.-Career mode. Enough said.-I don't want to start in my plane. Instead bring me to a screen where I file my flight plan, and set up my flight. Delays are possible due to weather, or cancellations as well. When the time is right to board the plane and enter the cockpit, let there be a foot mode where I can not only walk into my plane from the jetway, but walk among the airport terminals and their shops, walk among my cabin, walk around my Cessna to give it its pre-flight inspection.-More advanced planes, like 787, A380, etc. Better stock soundsets from inside and outside.-Better weather--do tornadoes and hurricanes exist in FSX? Sandstorms? Dust devils? etc.?-More carrier ops and missions.I'm outta breath here! :( :( But yeah, so there you have it!

BoeingGuy

Perhaps because the moderators felt it had run its course and had become tedious?

I wouldn't go that far with a career mode to be honest. Some kind of a logbook of flown routes, outcomes and hours of course, but retirement? Skip the retirement and training bits.. how and why would you simulate that? :( Sort of a "one stop shop" for preflight documentation and and airliner missions with decision making situations is what I'm looking for. I'd do it myself if I had the programming skills :(

Yes, the passengers in the TS2 betas looked very good! Your talk about pre-flight inspection gave me an idea.
  • Make better checklists. No more "press CTRL +E", TEACH the user how to start the engine and where the starter and fuel switch/know is.
  • I know this has been asked but I do not want this to be forgotten :). Include a real FMS in at least 1 airliner if possible. (The whole thing, simulated autopilot, Flight management computer, TCAS, etc[.)
  • I wanna see more 3D!! :(. With a new game engine it should be very easy to push more polygons than what we have in FSX today, with possibly better performance. I want to see 3D needles in the altimeter! More 3D knobs, etc.
  • Please have an option for panel backlighting and dome lighting. It is annoying to have the dome light come on when I turn on panel lights. It makes it hard to see outside at night!
  • Fix propeller and turbofan animations. I do not know if its just my FSX, but when I watch FS2004 and X-Plane, the transitions when moving the RPM of the propellers are very smooth and look realisitc, in FSX it looks like it was broken and the propeller moves in all wacko directions now. Also I when I push the throttle up in a turbofan aircraft, I want to see the fan transition smoothly and not erratically like FSX, for some planes it does even look like the fan is changing speed! B)
  • Add an option for the windshield to become foggy, icy, etc
  • Add more animals! The animals in FSX were great, but I only saw them in missions. I have yet to find them in free flight. Lets have birds and allow bird dung to get on the window B)
  • Windshield wipers!
  • Better bump mapping. It would be cool to see the genuine stretched metal look
  • A great save feature where you get a preview of the thumbnail.Just had a vision with some good ideas, don't if its too much though:
  • Option for the plane to get dirty. If you fly bush planes and land on a gravel road, it would be nice to see the belly of the aircraft get an overlay texture with dust and dirt on the belly
  • Have an option to wash your plane!
  • I think there should be an autosave option after each flight, or it should ask you "Would you like to save your flight" before ending. That way when you come back next time, you can fly your dirty plane, or you can wash it. It doesn't have to be like a real car wash. Something like Gran Turismo where its like a showroom and your aircraft spins and hit "Wash my plane" or something.
  • Allow the rain to wash the aircraft.
  • Improve the HDR/Light Bloom. Optimize pretty please?
  • No more "bubble plane". I presume this is currently because of 2D clouds, but when you fly through dense clouds, it should be hard to see the wings. When it rains, or when we are flying through precipitation, we shouldn't see a circle in front of us with no rain! (Check out the rain post in the old thread: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...&p=1553890)http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...t&p=1553890
  • I can not believe I forgot this! Add an option for motion blur. It would be awesome to see the trees blur as you fly down the runway at 100 knots. This will also improve the sense of speed.

just inquiring, but i have a brand new computer i just bought and fsx is still pretty intensive on the system.isnt adding all these new things simply going to make your computer ctd whenever you play?

Not at all, even Crysis runs better than FSX. These things won't even max out hardware today. If they build a new engine with correct optimizations, and more use of the GPU, and less of the CPU, then they can perform operations faster, efficiently, and render scenes nicely. The problem with the FSX code that makes it so slow and intense on todays PCs is not enough optimization, and old techniques and code. Many things are rendered on the CPU in the FS series when the could be performed on the GPU and make them work in conjunction. Also FSX is not very good with its multi-core support, because it was still being developed during the mid 2000s. Because of backwards compatibility with old FS2004 and older FS series, it has kept old code, which uses very old techniques when dedicated graphics weren't major, and this hurts performance a lot. Also I think if they use Shader Model 4.0 with the next FS and fix the sim putting a lot of things on the CPU, they can do a lot more cool effects with little to no performance loss. FSX uses SM 2.0 anyway, which is pretty old right now if you look at it in technology years, and is inefficient because it treats graphics cards as having separate vertex and pixel shaders, which means it is not using all the ALUs on the gfx card. With SM4.0 you have unified shaders which means that if that all the ALUs can perform pixel or vertex shading on the same ALU, and there are also geometry shaders which can probably help FSX alot. ATi also has a tessellation unit in its card that will show its true power in DX11 because that will enable it to be used, and that will help with verticies and geometry of objects and making them more detailed, whithout any performance loss. So if the next FS fixes the problems and uses DX11 (Which will be a free update to vista uses when Win 7 comes out :() then we will have a great sim with many more features and better performance. We just have to get those FS2004 people to the store :( Just playin', just playin'. Be afraid FS9 users! You will have to upgrade your hardware eventually, if you expect to play games...

guys now is our chance i just got an email from microsoft if you guys registered fsx with them you probably did too. fill out there survey, some of the things there asking about seem very promising and there is a section at the end to add any suggestions you have. If I were you id take these ideas and fill them out in this survey and see if they can actually get done :)

thats what im thinking/hoping:P

Yeah it includes questions like "what is important to you in a flight simulator" and questions like "what if this activity was in the game" and "what are your aviation interests".I'm thrilled!

i love the skydiving/ cliffjumping idea because its always been soemthing ive wanted to do but have been scared to do it since this guy i like worshipped died doing itand bringing the combat into it sounds pretty cooli didnt like the almost minigame sounding missions like capture the flag ideas just because it seems a little out there for methe crop duster and stunt flying seem really awsome:)
