Real:Please sign in the forum using your real name. As one who has no interest at all in props (the fact is that i can't fly one, and they do not hold my interest) i haven't been looking in the forums for any update. Traditionally though, PMDG will tell it's users about any further information pertaining to an upcoming product as soon as they have something to say about it. I would imagine that they are working on it, and when they have something to say, they will ;)@ FlyerKG (if that is your real name) the beauty of FS is that it is not the 'real world' there is absolutely nothing stopping you from flying the J41 in your local area. You could also try flying the J41 in one of the areas that they do fly. If you are a flyer that tends to stick to your local area only, you might enjoy the challenge :)CheersPaul

I know you specifically stated "current" operators, but for what it's worth, up until a few years ago, they flew in some more popular liveries:United Express (Atlantic Coast Airlines) USAirways Express (Trans States Airlines)American Connection (Trans States Airlines)Trans World Express (Trans States Airlines)Delta Connection (Trans States Airlines)Just sayin'...Nick

Hi Paul, It's Keith. I should not speak as if I cannot enjoy changes in real airline fleets. I was just a bit disappointed when I discovered this project was not going to be an EMB-120. I will problem buy and have a great time. I do recall seeing the J41 and mostly J31 wearing USAirways Express colors at Charlotte North Carolina a few years back. So shame on me :( Hey, I even sim-fly L1011s every now and again (ATA style)Keith

HelloJust curious but why can't you fly a Prop Aircraft ?

HelloProps hold no interest to me as such. Mixture, Prop Pitch, etc is something i have never bothered myself to learn. That said, my statement about Props is not entirely true, as i learned about flying in FS with the Default Cessna, and doing VOR to VOR navigation, flying with NDB's and what have you. These day's though, props do not really interest me as i said, and frankly, i can't be bothered with them. I am sure that for those whom Prop aircraft hold an interest, will indeed be in for a treat now that PMDG have gotten their teeth stuck into one.@ Real.. My apologies sir ;)CheersPaul

Um you know this is not a piston prop plane. This thing is a mixture of both. Its got that big plane feel while running on a few turboprops. I'm excited for this plane.

Steven Penninck

Yeah, I still cant wait to fly domestic South African routes with it.Cape Town - Port Elizabeth etc.

And so you can see just how much interest Props have held for me. :( To be honest, i probably will end up buying it.... With a J41 then, what controls am i likely to need to set up on the engine front? I have two Saitek Quads so i'm sure a fairly realistic engine control representation will be acheivable.CheersPaul

You won't need a mixture, that's for pistions. I assume you will need a pair of: Throttle, Prop (rpm) and maybe a condition lever, not sure about the Garretts.I have been flying a piston twin (Cessna C-414 Chancellor) for some time now... really looking forward to getting inside a BIG turboprop. Yeah man!

Dan Downs KCRP

Big-assed 'propjet' turboprop airliners handle more like jets than reciprocating piston-engined types, so it shouldn't be too hard a transition if you are used to jets. All the same things hold true (i.e. slower spool up, uneven spool on twins etc, reverse thrust), about the only thing different is the condition lever. In fact, it isn't really as different as you might think to a jet, since most jets these days use high bypass turbofans, and high bypass turbofans probably have more in common with propjets than they do with turbojets, since they actually put more air around the engine than actually goes through it.You should check out some other FS aircraft with that kind of power - they can really shift. Two of my favourites being the Flight 1 Cessna 441 and their ATR-72. The Cessna 441 of course has the same engines as the J41, in the shape of the Garrett TPE331, so you can get a good idea of what things are going to be like with that Flight 1 version, which goes like a bat out of hell and can be tricky to slow down on descent. Or there are plenty of others, such as the Metroliner, King Air, Mu-2, Turbo Porter, Tucano etc which also have the big Garrett engine. With regard to what airlines fly the J41, you can expect that to chop and change fairly frequently. Like the Twin Otter, the BAe Jetstream does a roaring trade with aircraft leasing companies and they really get about quite a lot, so you do find them doing the rounds for both pilot training and commercial flights.Al
