J41 CTD and fatal Error

Featured Replies

Hi,just activated j41, experiencing CTD every time i load the aircraft,i get a beep beep sound ,and fsx crashes ,never had this problem with 747 and md-11waiting for some advise, this is the error report app name : fsx.exeapp ver: 10.0.61472.0app stamp: 475e17d3mod name: pmdg_bae_js4100_3.dllmad ver0.0.0.0mod stamp:4aa0604cfdebug:0offset:00050dc7interesting point is if i load a default fsx aircraft to the flight plan and then change to j41 there is no problem, however when i start with a default j41 , fsx crashes,it does not load the tutorial flight as well,so i am not in a position to try this as well. vivek

Same problem overhere. When I selected the plane to load from the menu it starts loading, then I get the plane in black and white in the preview window and FSX continues loading. Then comes the window "a fatal error has occored" and later the window that FS X has crashed unexpected and will be restarted. I only have this with the J41, not the 747-400 or MD-11 or the Ariane 737-800X2.If I can do anything for you to help please ask.

I'll back up Uncle Robert on the FMS suspect. I've had two CTD's in 8 flights and both times I was doing something with the FMS. Proper flights (i.e. without the FMS) no probs at all. First time, on VNAV page, I was just loading the flight parameters, the second time it CTD'd I was just altering the STAR for EGPF from runway 05 to 23. The latter could be Airac related perhaps but this same Airac, same flight and STAR, works fine with the 744. Vista64 (for over a year and 1000 FSX hours!), QX9650 processor, HD4870x2 vid card, 4gb ram, Gigabyte m/b.

Same here, I was just messing with the FMS, I rotated the LNAV switch and had a CTD. I will try to repro the issue and grab some logs if I can find any. Think I agree with the FMS related issue. I get a fsx crash on exiting fsx, no problems when flying, etc. If I don't use the FMS then it seems to be ok, exits normally.I've even tried turning off the fms before shutdown of the plane but same issue... seems to be holding on there somewhere.John Ellison

Thx you for your reply and i will try that when i get home from work and hope it works. But I want to be very clear I have not had any problems of anything like this untill i loaded the J4100 started fsx 2 time to look/enjoy your amazing new AC and you see the result.
Well I just did that and no joy. :( I am getting the CTD everytime I try to load the tutorial flight. Gets to 100% then CTD. This occured with a brand new CFG file as well. Same result. I can load a default flight, then select the J41 and it loads. Of course then it isn't set for the cold and dark, and the props aren't latched. I'll try setting it up from the default and see what happens.Just a suggestion for an update. Put in a cold/dark selector like the Aerosoft Catalina. That way it won't such a pain to get the props latched, lol.

I found something out that might be of interest to those with CTD's. I was getting them when trying to load right from the get go. I deleted my cfg file and it worked, and in debugging why that was I discovered that the reason it was crashing in the first place was because FSX preloads your default flight and mine was set to load the Wilco E-Jet. I was able to restore my original cfg file and all I did was replace my default startup with the cessna and it worked.I know this won't address some of the other CTD issues, but anyone having loading issues, this seems to be the heart of the problem. Also, I believe there is a way to tell FSX not to preload in the cfg.Hope this helps someone get it working. It is a fantastic airplane.Scott

Did a whole LNAV flight tonight with the J41 from LEPA to LFMN and everything worked perfectly, before I did this I changed my default flight with a 172, rebooted FSX checked it was still the same and no probs at all. When it came to shutting FSX down I RMB'd the task bar, selected close from there and then FSX asked if I was sure, clicked yes and hey presto!! No Error message.Just to make sure I loaded a saved j41 flight from my docs/fsx files and repeated the procedure, no probs.might help some people as a workaroundDan.

I just tryed that and for the first time ever it did not crash on exit, you have found something there, nice one Dan

Just did the same thing Dan did ad it worked.Looks like the issue lies somewhere in the time the player ends the flight, returns to the FSX menu, anhd then exits out. Exiting out from a flight directly solved my CTD on exit.

Add "DisablePreload=True" to the Main section of FSX.cfg to stop this btw...Having a different complex aircraft loaded and then switching to another one is pretty much always going to cause problems. Thank you very much for figuring this out Scott, that's valuable information for us as far as figuring out what could be causing CTDs for other users.

Just found this other CTD...I load up the JS41 in the aircraft select screen, loads ok. I switch repaints to the American Connection livery (Trans State, IIRC), loads ok. I switch repaints again and try to load the U.S. Airways repaint and I get a Fatal Error:Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: PMDG_BAe_JS4100_3.DLL Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4aa0604c Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00050dc7 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033Additional information about the problem: LCID: 1033Interestingly, it seems that if I load the standard Cessna inbetween J41 loads than no CTD appears. Gents-I just wanted to put an update in this thread since you guys are following here:We have identified three distinct areas where some users are seeing CTDs:1) If exiting FSX from the FREE FLIGHT menu after having loaded the J41. (Only affects a small number of users.) We are working on reproduction steps and suspect this is related to the FMS and will get resolved. Stay tuned.)2) When resetting the sim after having "toasted" an engine. You can avoid this by manually repairing the engine by going into the FSX Realism/failures menu and selecting repair. We are tracing this down and anticipate fixing it shortly...3) We're seeing what we believe to be a random operational CTD from the FMS possibly related to VNAV. Research underway.THanks guys- it is worth noting that we are still looking at <1/2 of 1% of users experiencing these- but none-the-less we are intent to find an kill them- as we want a 0% rate for CTDs...

A very large thankyou for the DisablePreload value, I had that set to 1 via another site and changed it to true and, guess what, fsx loads better now. Used to hang about at 6% scenery now it doesn't.Set as Cessna now too rather than the hang glider.... see how that helps as well (Ta Scott).Just hope my engine supplier is able to keep up - torched 3 so far; too long in getting the locks off but I'll get the timing right and one at landing (reverse to get the spoilers out) lolJohn Ellison

You may use either DisablePreload=True or DisablePreload=1. There is no difference since FSX will disable the preload with both settings. Placebo effect.
