CaptainSim Sale

Yeah me too. If you saw my post on the last page I liked it so much that I was up until 5:30 this morning flying it. I bought the freighter and C-130 but didn't install them yet. I like the -100 so much I am thinking about buying the -200 as well. There's only 2 hours left for the sale.
I just broke down and went for the 727-100 and 200, on your recommendation!! So it's your fault :( Note sale is almost over (A little more than a hour) and their servers are busy, in fact their download server is swamped. So for those that still want in, you should do it now!!!

Thanks

Tom

I've had each of these for awhile. The only thing I have yet to buy from CS for flying in FSX is the Space Shuttle and the 767-400 expansion whenever we get to see it. I don't have any interest in the AWACS or Tanker 767s so I will pass on those. Keith

I typically hand-fly everything once cleared for the approach and from what I have encountered with the 727 and have read about, it is very accurate. It can become easy to come in with too much flap and not enough power until you get used to landing it.

I got the 727 base, 727F and C-130.Only really played around with the 727 so far. Anyone else notice the VSI seems to over read? Approaching at 125kts I seem to have to maintain a V/S of 1,000fps :(That said, I've otherwise really enjoyed it so far. :(

Well, I ended up going back and buying the -200 also. Too bad they didn't offer a 727 Full Pack like they did with the C-130. Oh well, still a good deal to get the C-130 and all the 727 models for $60.I also did notice the VSI seems a little funny, but that maybe just that I am not used to flying it.I really need to go thru the manuals and check the speed and flap settings. I was trying to fly from memory of what the PMDG 737 uses on approach to get in the ball park. It's easy to lose speed quickly in this bird and it takes a while to spool up power, like it should be. Some jet a/c seem to get immediate power which isn't very realistic. So far I give the 727 an A+ for looks and performance and features. Now I just need to get down to the nitty gritty and study the manuals so I can fly it properly.BTW, is it possible to get this thing to start from a cold and dark state?

There are some issues with the 727, see here: http://airlinersim.blogspot.com/2009/03/ca...27-captain.htmlI certainly noticed the lack of power, which is a shame. Still happy I got it, not so sure I would if I'd paid full price.I've got the engines running from cold and dark, but couldn't get the radios working. Need to investigate further, but it could be i missed something rather than a bug being there.

The 727 is an old plane with old systems and old engines. I'm old so I can say that. You need to RTM to get the hang of old style flying. The one thing you need to be aware of (and it's in the manual) it to carry plenty of power and don't get too slow on approach or it will fall out of the sky, and the ground hurts!(You can only tie the record for the lowest altitude flown)

Yeah I know, I'm just saying it seemed strange that it struggled to get to 30,000ft on full power - and the review from someone who actually flew the plane seems to indicate that the model is under powered.

Maybe you are overloaded? I don't seem to have a problem getting to altitude, actually the durn thing climbs like a homesick angel here.

For those looking for more power in the 727, here is a tweak I saw in their forum:About the POWER ISSUE from the 200:You can change some things in the aircraft .cfg yourone if you wish to have more power.Look for those entries in the aircraft .cfg :[TurbineEngineData]fuel_flow_gain = 0.002 inlet_area = 19.6 change this to 13.6 so it reads:inlet_area = 13.6 and:[jet_engine]thrust_scalar = 1.0change this to (1.1 or 1.2 test it your own i use 1.1 ) so it reads:thrust_scalar = 1.1that should do the trick Backup your orginal Data before change so you not losing sometthing.I haven't tried any of these. When I first tried mine last night from a default fly now state it was loaded with 100% fuel so that could explain some of the sluggishness. I did notice that it took some runway to get up to speed compared to the LDS 767, but I figured that was because of the older, less powerful engines.
