December 9, 200916 yr Thanks for the info. It`s unfortunate because it looks nice and handflies nicely, but I like to handfly using the FD to fly approaches so I will pass on this one. I hate when designers refuse to admit and correct bugs just because they think it`s not important. CDS is the second one I stopped buying from because of that "good enough" attitude.DanDon't let others problems dissuade you, I have all the CS planes and they work perfectly. For the price of the sale you can't lose.
December 9, 200916 yr I always buy a Captain Sim product during these sales. I love this time of year. :( Mike Keigley

December 10, 200916 yr I wouldn't buy anything from CS no matter cheap simply out of principle. -Alex
December 10, 200916 yr I really like Captain Sim's stuff. I own the 757, 727, C-130, and 767, and enjoy them all. (And I'm actually a happy owner/fan of the LDS 767, too.) Around US $15 for each is a heck of a deal -- I think these planes are a steal at that price. Buy all four of these for what one would normally cost you. It's true that their 757 in particular had some serious issues early on, but the latest 4.4 version (which just came out last week) is very nice. I think Captain Sim initially did not handle a lot the problems very well, and they lost some credibility with people. However, I can say over the last 18-24 months, I have never had a serious problem with Captain Sim. I've always gotten my activation count reset upon request when using the web form, as I have terrible luck with hardware and hard drives. They maintain customer forums at their site, and generally seem responsive to customer concerns. I think they have learned from their past mistakes and seem to be doing a pretty good job, overall. I'm really looking forward to their 767-400, the redo of their 707 for FSX, and whatever else they've got in the pipe. I'll keep supporting them as a happy customer unless things change. At this price, what have you got to lose?Enjoy!
December 10, 200916 yr Moderator At this price, what have you got to lose?Enjoy! That's what I thought. I know they had not such a good rep from some of the post's I have read here, but for $15 I don't care. I have been on the fence for a long time about the C-130 and the 727. For $30 I might as well give them a try. I don't need the 757 or 767 since I already have the LDC 767 and LDS is making a 757 which I most likely wont buy anyway. Aside from PMDG, I wonder why no one else is making a good 737? That's really the only plane I miss from FS9 in my PMDG 737, and they have already done the MD-11 and the JS4100 since FSX came out. I wonder what the hold up on the 737NGX is? Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 10, 200916 yr At this price, what have you got to lose?9.99 Euros for a start.... But actually, I think you may be right. I've never bought any CS products, primarily because of adverse comments here and elsewhere over the years, but I think I may finally take a punt on the 757. That thing does look very nice indeed. Of course, it shouldn't BE like placing a bet. All this agonising would be unnecessary if CS offered a refund system like Flight1. I'd be more than willing to buy their products at full price, never mind in a Xmas sale, if I had THAT sort of guarantee...Ian
December 10, 200916 yr Don't let others problems dissuade you, I have all the CS planes and they work perfectly. December 10, 200916 yr So are you saying the flight director does work correctly? If it does work for some that's great and thanks for pointing that out.Otherwise don't misslead people by saying they work perfectly when it actually doesn't.I never misslead anyone, I simply state how things work on MY machine, and its coming up on 4 years old. The only problems I ever had with CS 757 were FSUIPC related and using an older version cured them. One of the guys I fly with took it for a ride yesterday right 'out of the box' with 0 problems. We are going to fly today as a group with it (4.4) version and if it has problems, you can be sure I will let ya know.Departure is at 1pm, I'll let ya know what happens later, I gotta get to the airport now :-)

December 10, 200916 yr I think CS just put it out in an email. Becareful when ordering, there will be a link on the front page. I remember last year a lot of people went through the normal process of ordering and ended up paying full price.I got the C-130 last year and looks like I'll get the 757-200 and -300 expansion. You might want to get the -300 and the Freighter now as they are already on sale for 9.99 Euro each ($14.02 as of this instant each). The base pack as the -200.Best regards,Jim
December 10, 200916 yr So does the flight director work or not? :(FD works perfectly. However, it still had the same FSUPIC problem from previous versions. When you install the plane, it installs an unregistered version of FSUIPC 4.5 which for me hoses the LNAV and AT modes. The first flight I had the problem, the second flight I reinstalled my registered FSUIPC 4.3 and everything works perfectly, your milage may vary. This bird is an absolute joy to fly, not to mention to look at.
