CaptainSim Sale

Featured Replies

I'm getting no cockpit sounds in the 757 or the 727. I can see it being discussed in the Captain Sim forums (as something only certain users are hit by), but none of the proposed fixes have helped so far.Anyone else had this and resolved it?Edit: Well, it helps to post here about problems - I just found a post recommending that msvcr71.dll should be copied to the FSX root. That fixed it for me.

I've now finally become a Captain Sim customer, with the 767 base-pack. Looks good - even the scruffy interior :( - and in the nano seconds I had available to check her out before work intervened, seems to handle ok. Framerates are reasonable on my newly-constructed system, so all is looking rosey in the garden.. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with the manuals over the weekend.Would I be correct in thinking the LDS 767 is still the more comprehensive product in terms of systems fidelity?Ian
I would say as far as systems functionality the LDS-767 is a more refined product, CS may actually have more systems modeled, (Almost everything is clickable and seems to function - how well though is up to interpretation) but some like cabin lights aren't modeled correctly. All in all though you can't go too wrong at this price. The 2 things you do get that you can't get with the LDS is the weather radar, and the availability of the other 767 variants, both civil and military.

Thanks

Would anyone be willing to comment on the flight characteristics on the 767? Does it have realistic performance and w&b values, etc? Thanks in advance!

The 727, 757, and 767 are a STEAL for $14 USD, IMO. I believe I got the 757 from them last year during a similar sale. Very pleased. CS products may have some bugs (just like every other developer's products), but they are pretty quick with patches and whatnot. On a side note, I just noticed that the sale ends in a little over 5 hours. The sale ends at around 4pm PST? So much for those folks on the West Coast/Mid-West/Some East Coast who have jobs. That is, unless you do your FS shopping while at work. lol

I have purchased both the 727 100 and the 767 300 packs - and so far am very impressed. The 3D cockpits are just great. My only initial disappointment is that the 727 external viewpoint makes the 727 too small. The 767 is fine and I would like a closer viewpoint of the 727. I remember how ito zoom the viewpoint in fs2004 but can't remember or wonder if a zoom is possible under fsx? Anyone else feel the same?Spike

I got the 727-100, and I think I'm in love :( I usually zoom in FSX by holding down the spacebar and rotating the wheel on my mouse.

I am not sure what you mean by, "the 727 external viewpoint makes the 727 too small."With regards to the zoom function, I believe it is the same key under FSX as it was in FS2004 (the +/= and _/-) keys.

Picked up the 767 Base and 767F! I needed to defrag my FS hard drive so I'm waiting for that to finish so I can try them out. I might pick up the 767-200 also. I have all of the C-130 and it is a great package. Worth every penny. The 757 is good to minus a few bugs here and there. I own the 757 package also.

FSX- the Backspace key sets the zoom to default, then use the + and - keys to adjust. Sometimes the views stick so, if they do just press Backspace first.

Thanks to all those who responded to the viewpoint for the 727. I will fiddle with the backspace key and see if I can get the + and - keys to hold.In commenting about keys for FSX it was the PMDG J41 where I started to use the space bar key for the first time to move the mouse around in 3D cockpit mode. I cannot believe that after 3 years of FSX I really had not utilized this fuction until then !!!!

Ray,If you just use the "+" and "-" keys you will adjust the zoom, not the view point. If you use "CTRL +" and "CTRL -" you can move the view point closer or further from the aircraft without adjusting the zoom.

I can see why they hold these sales - they now have

I was sitting on the fence with regards to the 767, but the opportunity to pick it up for

Yeah me too. If you saw my post on the last page I liked it so much that I was up until 5:30 this morning flying it. I bought the freighter and C-130 but didn't install them yet. I like the -100 so much I am thinking about buying the -200 as well. There's only 2 hours left for the sale.
