August 4, 201015 yr That there is a 737 Classic, not an NG. I don't think that the classics get HUD's since the planes are older.Southwest 737-300/-500s have HUDs on them. Same CATIIIA capability as the Sperry 177 at a much lower cost. I see. I just assumed a CAT III was used by newer aircraft forgetting that its been around for a while if you know what i mean.Hey, a 747-200 can autoland, and I think Eastern retrofitted some of their 727s to do autolands. Been around for a while. Joe Sherrill
August 4, 201015 yr I only know of the 737NG having HUDS, my friend's dad is a pilot for Southwest, and I talk to him alot, but he never mentioned the classics having HUD's. I may be wrong. Alexander Brinson
August 4, 201015 yr Actually I think you're right about what you said about AVSIM and if my memory serves despite AVSIM's efforts they even went down for a while due to the extremly heavy traffic :(2 and a half weeks to go until I get back to work...too bad it seems very unlikely I'll fly the NGX before that like I think I would if you had asked me a couple of months ago but guess one will just have to look forward to a NGX automn/winter instead!Edited to add that after a Google search I found the event we are thinking of happened about this time of year 5 years ago when PMDG released the 747, look here -> http://us.generation-nt.com/pmdg-747-cause...-142537941.htmlLet's hope PMDG aim for an equal big bang with the 737 and approx at the same time of the year...that would be like...now :( The 747 was released on the 2nd of August 2005.

August 4, 201015 yr Hah, well look at that. :( , I tried to find a picture like that to see if it's true. Is the CWS A & B going to be simulated? Alexander Brinson
August 4, 201015 yr So what exactly does controlled wheel steering do and when would you use it, i've never used it myself just wondering?Mike Davey 777 Mike Davey 777 Windows 64- Intel ® Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz, 4.00 GB Ram Ge Force GTX 460
August 4, 201015 yr So what exactly does controlled wheel steering do and when would you use it, i've never used it myself just wondering? The CWS mode allows you to manually set a pitch and roll via the yoke, and the A/P will maintain that. Almost like an autotrim. I only use it when flying the Tinmouse, but it only has a Sperry 77. Joe Sherrill

August 4, 201015 yr You can assign a tiller through fsuipc in FS9 I would have thought it was the same in FSX, I use a seperate USB joystick and use the twist function as a tiller, not ideal but better then using my rudder pedals at low speed.Works the same in FSX. It is not a separate control axis, though, FSUIPC basically just transfers rudder control to the twist grip (or whatever you assign the tiller to) at low speeds. So when you do your controls check the rudder pedals won't work. August 4, 201015 yr Here's a video of a REAL 737-800 in action landing in LAX. It shows what it is going to be like when we will do an approach in this aircraft in a few months. (Hopefully) This is NOT my video. That is a great video, thanks for sharingDave
