January 30, 201016 yr woa woa whoa, hold a minute here. Is this real, or is Dan playing a dirty trick?Taylor Oldham
January 31, 201016 yr Maybe the wood piegon will have a FMS like the one in the 747 or the MD11. I hope so. It would make a great plane for long hauls. Will the umbrellas be in authentic livery colors? If not, this one will suck!
January 31, 201016 yr I'm not sure about the altimeter, don't think the Woodpiegon had the 10,000's pointer. Wasn't the service ceiling about 5000 ft? Dan Downs KCRP
February 1, 201016 yr This thread is pretty funny. I wonder if PMDG will hide a woodpigeon model in their future releases next to the pogo stick. :( Dan,I like the wood avionics and the umbrella. :( Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com
February 1, 201016 yr Will the WoodPigeon have the ability to save panel states? I thik it'd be good to have that ability, since this is obviously a long-hauler. February 1, 201016 yr Will I be able to run the Woodpigeon on my Pentium 90?? I do have 8 Megabytes of RAM BTW...AND a vesa card! Surely this set-up would scream with wood-grain-textures? Please advise.Oh, and my neighbour wanted me to ask (he doesn't have "This Internet-Thing", as he states, "it's simple economics! Two cans and a string are all I need!") if it will work on his OLPC? (One laptop per child)Long live the WoodPigeon!Cheers!

February 1, 201016 yr I don't think it had LNAV and VNAV, it was too old for that. I do remember it had WNAV. I do remember it had WNAV.The autoflight system in the Woodpigeon consisted of a rope that could be secured to the stick and the seat. Autothrottle required a rock and a rope. February 2, 201016 yr The autoflight system in the Woodpigeon consisted of a rope that could be secured to the stick and the seat. Autothrottle required a rock and a rope. There was no need for a rope! Properly trimmed, in still air, the WoodPigeon should fly straight and level for ages! At least two minutes. Paul Smith.
February 2, 201016 yr They did offer the rope as an airline specific option. I hope such options are faithfully modelled since it was a very different aircraft due to the weight of the rope. Bill Casey
February 3, 201016 yr For maximum immersion, I hope PMDG will model the lawnmower required to cut the grass before flight.Quoted from the Virtual Aircraft Museum' : 'In their endeavour to make a fair assessment it is amusing to learn that the Westland technicians insisted on cutting a runway, with a hand-mower, through the long grass of Yeovil aerodrome, in order to get the Woodpigeon airborne!'http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/west_woodpigeon.phpCheers, Chris Dalgarno I do not have a signature.
