Well Word Not Allowed, I hope you're happy with yourself. I have decided that maybe I do spend too much time punching waypoints and hitting the LNAV button. I am in the process of downloading, pretty much, every freeware scenery add-on for FSX on theee...ahhhhh..."other guys' website". They have that nice Scenery Lookup map! I even saw some great little grass airports right by where I grew up in Rochester, NY. So I'm gonna go east to west and back again, and try to hit every state on the way (except Tennesee, no scenery files), all while not leaving the comfort of some blades and pitch control. I understand I may go through FMC withdrawls, but I have the PMDG 4100 for that! I'm quite excited about this endevour, I feel like I did when I was 11 and got FS4 for the Mac :)GO SUPER FSX MOTIVATION TEAM! :( Who else needs to be saved?!---Brian Bash--- 103 hrs PPL SEL and climbing!

I suggest www.sim-outhouse.net - there are some great freeware planes there too

Hey Word Not Allowed. I am pretty much a flyer of airliners in FSX 90% of the time, with the other 10% of the time flying choppers or the Aerosoft F-16. However, flying airliners most of the time in FSX gives me no problems. For example in the screen shots I posted here, http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=275474 , I am at FSDreamteams KORD with 100% AI by UT2 and the LDS767. I was getting a pretty solid 20 to 30 FPS while on the ground and in the air. Granted sometimes in large hubs I will drop into the teens but when I leave the frame limiter in the unlocked position while in dense areas, FPS in the mid to high teens is still usually smooth as glass. Your right that for some reason a lot of people, me included who fly mostly heavies dont seem to post a lot of screen shots. I'm not sure why that is, but I dont think its because a lot of people aren't flying airliners in FSX. In my case, its actually because when I am flying airliners I am usually concentrated in flying and dont step out of the flight deck much to look around and take pics. For me, posting screens is a liltle bit of work since I have to resize them and upload them, hence thats why I dont post many. Just out of curosity I did what I though I would never do and I re-installed FS9 just to see what it would be like again and compare flying heavies in it, as opposed to FSX. So far I am still in the midst of the install with the planes and sceneries yet to be installed. The only thing I have done so far is install UT and GE Pro and test FS9 to see how it looks. I must say that I am a little put off by how bad it looks in comparison to FSX, but I have some work to do yet. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up for airliner flying compared to the experience I am having now in FSX which is for the most part great.Judging by the rig in your sig I cant see how you would have any issues. Maybe it come down to the set up? I had mine done online by FS-GS and haven't really had to do anything else to make it work good except for the overclock I did after the install.

I had the same experience. I put FS9 back on just for the Airsimmer A320, which is no longer on my hard-drive. I don't think I'll ever go back again now, as I'm so impressed with how FSX looks, esp with FE textures and UTX Europe, among others. As for performance, even on my modest machine it's pretty smooth on low and slow hops between London Heathrow and London City in the CS 767 (highly illegal of course!), and that's with Gary Summons' Heathrow Xtreme and VFR London scenery (minus EGLC) installed. I keep traffic to the bare minimum though. Word Not Allowed, I'll try and post some screenshots.Ian
CS 767 -highly illegal of course?I assume you're kidding, because if you are not I think it is pretty stupid to announce to everyone here you pirated it!
I think Ian means the illegal "low and slow hops between London Heathrow and London City". Not the 767 :(

KInd regards

Relax. Yes, I was referring to ops into EGLC. The short runway and steep approach limits the aircraft that are certified to use it to STOL turboprops, RJs and, recently, the A318. I see them flying in all the time. You'd be breaking a few rules trying to get a 767 into the place. As well as risking a dunking in the Thames. :( But that's the advantage of our virtual world. No-one to answer to and only virtual lives to consider! :( Ian
