April 5, 201016 yr MindYerBeak, try removing the fsx.cfg file, move it to the desktop, and let the sim rebuild. Also did you have it rebuild the shader files? Thanks. I will try removing the fsx.cfg and yes I had the sim rebuild the shader files.Vic
April 5, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member Vic,Are you trying to fix the texture problems or are you trying to use the performance enhancing stuff? If it's just the texture fixes, you need to ONLY use the HIGHMEMFIX and STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD settings. Wait until ******* releases his guide on doing the performance part of his cfg - it's not going to work if you just copy his settings, it has to be customized for your specific machine. April 5, 201016 yr It's about smooth performance of course. Personally I can fly even though it sometimes stutters when fps go below 20 in bussy airports, and I don't mind lowering some sliders if needed, but it's also about knowing why someone with your specs is getting such good performance without any tweaks while peeps with faster quad cores, triple channel architecture, etc, are not even close to that. What add-ons/settings do you use please? My setup is quite simple really. I have fsx tuned to nickn's guide Including nhancer and installed onto a dedicated hdd. I am fanatical about keeping my hdd's organised, defragged and free from junk.I use avira antivirus as I find this easy on resources I also use a program to switch off uneccesary applications starting up with my pc. To defrag I use a free version of auslogics defragmentor, this is quick and effective. I tried o&o defrag and ended up reinstalling fsx so I don't rate it.I have vfr real scenery for britain as my scenery as I only really fly around the uk. I used to use fps limiter but at themo I have found better performance without it. I also have Rex 2. I also have fsuipc and fs passengers. My specs are below along with addon aircraft I have the automationcore (or whatever it is called) dll in my fsx folder to stop the menu ctd and that's as fancy as it gets.Asus P5QC, Intel Dual Core E8500 3.16 GHz @ 4.00 GHz, 4Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1066MHz RAM, XFXForce Nvidia 9800 GTX+, 320GB HDD for Windows 7 Home 64 bit, 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 for FSXPMDG MD11, Leonardo MD80, Leveld 767, Captain Sim 757 & FsLabs Concorde X I get a pretty consistent 25-30 fps dropping to around 20 at egll I currently have the uk2000 demo of egll loaded. With Concorde x and rainfall my fps does drop to approx 15 fps but it is still relatively smooth. As for world scenery I have switched off areas in my scenery library that I don't use.I very occasionally have had the missing texture issue but I can count on one hand how many times it has happened.Hope this helps - apologies for digressing off topic a littleTom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
April 5, 201016 yr updated; Tim,i do not have a fan speed control setting option in the Nvidia control panel. do i need a certain driver version & up for this? i'm currently using version...8.16.11.9107 dated 9/27/09 (according to the driver version info. in Dev. Mgr)happy flyin, Tim WheelerTimTo enable the advanced options in the Nvidia control panel you need to download and install the Nvidia "system tools", here:http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.05.html Once installed, you should find a "Device settings" option under the "Performance" settings in your Nvidia control panel. From memory, you might have to confirm that you want to enable the advanced settings or something like that. Once you've found the "Device settings", it's pretty self-explanatory.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. April 5, 201016 yr Well, have to admit - ******* saves. Tried this fix today and finally - no problems with MD11 anymore. I was able to get consistent crashes (missing textures/black screen) by loading the MD11 at a demanding airport (EGLL, KJFK, YMML) and switching some views, using the menu etc. FSX also crashed when using 2x time acceleration on long hauls - usually after 1-1.5 hrs. The only solution was to use dx10 preview which caused a lot of other problems. Now it seems to be ok. Still have to do some more testing but I'm already very happy with the results. Thanks so much! April 5, 201016 yr Ryan,On my system the corrupted video image in FSX also is reflected in a corrupted 3D video image in my Nvidia Control Panel. When I get the corrupted image in FSX, I am able to Alt/Enter and get back to Explorer which appears to be operating correctly. When I open the Nvidia Control Panel in 3D Settings, the Preview image is distorted and shortly after that my system hangs and has to be rebooted with the power button. Bill BridgesTime to re-install the video card driver.hi Tim,thanks for the info. i did not know that you could control the fan speed inside the Nvidia control panel. i thought a 3rd party tool was required for that. i will experiment with the fan speed setting as you suggested. however, i do have the disappearing texture issues both inside the PMDG 744X cockpit and on the exterior of the A/C during night, dusk, and dawn flying. i've even seen All 4 engines missing before. also, missing terrain, & sky textures. my last night flt. attempt from KSFO-EGLL, All of the Terminals was missing at EGLL when i landed.happy flyin, Tim WheelerI don't see any fan setting the the Nvidia control panel.

April 5, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member As far as fan speed and stuff, just download EVGA Precision - it's a great utility and it works with any Nvidia card, not just EVGA's:http://www.evga.com/precision/If you have one of the Logitech keyboards with a display on it like the G15, G19 etc, Precision shows you a readout of the GPU temp, GPU utilization, video memory usage, and fan speed. Really cool feature. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
April 5, 201016 yr +1 for having good results with graphics corruption using the highmemfix=1 tweak.I'm looking forward to further info on the BP=0 performance tweak as this caused several freeze-ups on my system. Although with 512mb on an ATI board it's probably expected. Also, this sounds like something that needs to be combined with other changes to work best. Thanks ******* for all your work on this. Just testing this out on my own system seemed quite a chore, but worth it. I see a GTX 480 in my future. Regards,Bob Quick
April 5, 201016 yr I didn't notice any difference with that FSX.cfg tute but thanks anyway.Specs:Intel E7500 Core2Duo O/C 3.5ghz | 8800GTS 512mb | 500GB HDD | 4GB DDR2 | Vista 32bit SP2 - Edward Boyte | Youtube
April 5, 201016 yr Just to report backI have just finished a bunch of heavy airports, egll lfpg lemd, flights - all of which I made sure crossed over the day - twilight - night time-frame and so far they have been perfect. I do get around a second(time) black screen when I finish a FSpassenger flight ( this had a 90% black screen rating ) which makes me dread but everything comes back to life.Awesome. Well done ******* and PMDG for taking up the task - Respect to yous.Chris Farrell Chris Farrell

April 6, 201016 yr FSX is a 32-bit application, that number is as high as it can possibly be. Setting it any higher will not do anything. You can use it on either a 32-bit or 64-bit OS.Ryan,How does this affect those of us on WinXP_x64 at this time? Have you and ******* come up with anything for our camp? Not so much for the skeleton and CTD's, but for the improved performance and/or renabling AA & AS within the sim. Or, should we just stay put with the current (old) nHancer settings for now 'till things get confirmed? Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
April 6, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member Al,If these settings really fix all the corruption problems people have had with the newer OSes then I see no reason for anyone to be running XP64... that OS was never meant to be a consumer OS in the first place, it's only going to be a matter of time before the hardware companies stop making drivers for it. I highly doubt there's going to be a GTX400 series driver for it for instance... XP is permanently stuck two DirectX versions behind what these new cards are built for anyway. If ******* is right (and we'll talk about this later) those cards may actually be monsters for FSX because of the massively increased shader processors (3 times as many as the 285) - those are extremely important for stability when running FSX with the vertex buffer disabled. But what about the short-term and current settings? Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
