April 6, 201016 yr Commercial Member Hi guys,I think it is a fair observation that the PMDG 737NGX is a little delayed for the target of MID this year. My query is, will this effect the release of the other two upcoming projects [777 by the end of the year/early 2011]?OR are they run in a rough parallel meaning no significant delay?Alex Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! In the past, PMDG has put up preview images right before they release a product. I remember that the J41 only had previews up for a couple months and that was because it was leaked out before PMDG wanted it to be known. We are all wanting to see preview images and news of an impending release real soon but patience is a virtue my friend. April 6, 201016 yr Hi guys,I think it is a fair observation that the PMDG 737NGX is a little delayed for the target of MID this year. AlexI think you've assumed a fair bit in that statement. First, define "mid year"? Would it be June 30? So, everything before June 30 is early and everything after is late? Is it June and July? Or is it the middle two quarters of the year (April-September)? Personally, I would love it now, but I wouldn't consiser it "late" until after August or so,which is still 4 months away. Now, it would be fair to say that its late from the original release proposals from years ago, but that's a different story. As for how it will effect other projects, I know one thing they've said is that NGX will help the 777, which makes sense. Certainly they can recycle some code there. So, relax. it will come out soon enough. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
April 6, 201016 yr The PMDG Knowledge Base mentions that it is the same team that is developing the 737 which also will develop the 777. It's therefore very likely that a delay in the 737 release, also will delay the 777.However, with that said, who has said that the 737 is delayed? Mid 2010 is a pretty broad target which can strech from (in my opinion) May to August, or maybe even more. Robert has said that previews is not far away, so I will assume that the development team has come pretty far, and that the develpment is moving forward. Patience, I'm sure it will be worth the wait :( Raymond Bergseng ENGM ________________________________ Asus P6T WS Professional, Intel Core i7 980X 3.33GHz (OC to 3.8), Zalman CNPS9700 NT CPU cooler, 12 GB OCZ Platinum XTC DDR3 1600MHz, EVGA GeForce GTX 580 "Superclocked Edition" 797MHz 1536MB, M-Audio Fast Track Ultra external USB soundcard, WD VelociRaptor 300GB SATA discs, Cooler Master Stacker nVidia Edition w/850W PSU, Dell UltraSharp 24" LCD, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Logitech Ultra X Premium Keyboard, MX 518, Saitek Yoke and Rudder.
April 6, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member I think you have mis understood my tone..Firstly i know people who are programmers and have been very close to this "textures debate"im not for a second, getting vex/impatient/angry about a "release date"The post is simple, i am wanting to know if it will be affecting other products..This is not a troll post to demand previews/release date,, its a childish remark and we all know it wont reap reward. You following me now?@realpilotsimpilot,, i am quoteing what pmdg has said, so stop trolling at me, Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! April 6, 201016 yr I think it's pretty obvious that everything will be delayed. Most of PMDG's products aren't released "on time". I'm not knocking them, it just takes patience to get to the level of quality they/we want.
April 6, 201016 yr You following me now?@realpilotsimpilot,, i am quoteing what pmdg has said, so stop trolling at me,Nobody is trolling you, in fact the responses you got are far more mature and thought-out than your (silly and ambiguous to begin with) question and your following add-on remarks. April 6, 201016 yr And now it's turned into a maturity debate. Got to love the internet: :(It's a valid question, but I'd be surprised if PMDG answered it. They deliberately avoid schedule questions, and that's worked well for them over the years since nobody can get upset when they don't give out dates. As opposed to Digital Aviation with their Fokker 70/100 farce and others. The "stonewall" tactics is the only way to avoid the good old angry mob of flightsimmers with pitchforks and torches at their virtual door. :(
April 6, 201016 yr I think I would be OK with waiting a little, so long it doesn't become another Level-D 757. Isaac Magalhaes

April 7, 201016 yr @realpilotsimpilot,, i am quoteing what pmdg has said, so stop trolling at me,I'm sorry you thought I was "trolling", but I was pointing out that the timeline they gave themselves has some wiggle room. I really really really want to fly this bad boy when it comes out. But, I honestly don't think it can be "late" or "delayed" on their stated schedule for awhile. From reading this board and from everything Ryan and Robert have said, I assume it will be awhile and still be timely. Waiting is the hardest part, though, right?Keep the shiny side up.... April 7, 201016 yr Commercial Member Expect an official update on the NGX progress soon... it's moving along nicely. As we said when we announced the 777 and Dash 8, those were our own internal target dates, not any kind of a promise on actual release dates. Those will change, there's no question about that. What we're not talking about here are delays of years or anything like that - the NGX is a 2010 product for sure and we'll do our best to get the 777 out quickly after it. One thing to take into consideration is that a lot of the ground work for the 777 is being done with the NGX too - the modelling techniques, the FMC etc are all quite similar and parts of it will be reused - that saves us a lot of development time. You guys talk of a 777 and 737 similarity in coding.. I guess that it is not the same story for the dash, however i expect you will bring alot of techniques from the JS.I think you have things spot on with the choice of aircraft.. but out of everything, 777 has always been my favourite. April 7, 201016 yr Everyone is of course very impatient when it comes to a new PMDG release but,as it has already been mentioned a couple of times in this forum :Would you prefer a prematurely released unflyable FS2002 looking 737 that ruins your expectations or a plug and play 737, complete with level D accuracy (pun intended) and eye candy ?A look at the competition speaks for itself unfortunately...(leveldsim excluded)For the moment I'm quite happy with the js41 : travelling virtual england with eastern airways :( Jean-Charles Montagne
