May 28, 201016 yr Which version of the Shader Mod you installed? it seems 'bloom' is enabled, correct? Is that because of the ENBSeries mod or the FSX bloom? What I think might be happening is that you installed the original shader mod version, which included the ENBSeries mod, which some users have contacted me about compatibility problems with it. So, do this:Go into your main FSX folder, and look for a file called D3D9.DLL dont worry, the file INSIDE your FSX folder is NOT a system or FSX file, its just the ENBSeries mod. If you have that file RENAME it to something like D3D9.DLL.DISABLED and start the sim again. You should see no problems.Actually I did what you told me yesterday. I installed the latest file (22nd of may). But it wasnt working. I tried the other onw with the ENBSeries, wich add the d3d9.dll and an other file, but still the same problem. So I deleted both. I just tried in DX10 preview and it works, so it seems to be only with the DX9 version. And its the FSX bloomC17 DX9 with bloomc17 with DX10
May 28, 201016 yr Try a moonless night or full cloud coverage. You probably also have your monitor brightness way too high?In fact, this problem doesn't exist with your other version (SM3_current)Maybe a parameter to change in the "Peformance version" ?Here 1 original screen : the sky is dark, it's ok, but the water is too bright
May 28, 201016 yr Author In fact, this problem doesn't exist with your other version (SM3_current)Maybe a parameter to change in the "Peformance version" ?Here 1 original screen : the sky is dark, it's ok, but the water is too bright The two versions have slightly different 'settings', if you want, I can tell you what to tweak... send me an email to [email protected] and I'll give you some pointers. Basically, those versions differ in the texture minification and magnification filters, plus the MIP filter in use, including the LOD bias settings.. but I made the changes in the code to make those 'tweakable' by adding custom texture samplers.Since we all have different tastes, I guess we have four choices:1) stick to the original Shaders2) Use the original version of my shaders3) Use the performance version4) Use either the original version of my shaders or the performance version and TWEAK it to your liking.Again, for #4, contact me privately, and if you don't feel like tweaking stick to #1

And its the FSX bloomTry using this version:http://www.venetubo.com/ShadersHLSL.zipit's the one I've been using for the past 2 weeks. it contains minor changes, and they were all BLOOM related (fog calculation) so this will probably fix your problems. The above also contains modified FILTERS for clouds, so in theory you will get better performance. I really, don't want to keep releasing version after version, so see the above as as 'service pack' to the Perf Version 1.5

I hope he continues to bring us advancements, but I can completely understand his stance. I myself can only stand to answer the same questions so many times, but when I have the time and the patience I enjoy helping others out. Shane Gavin

May 29, 201016 yr Quick question, *******: How can I keep all of your fantastic shader work but simply make the waves look less "compacted" or not so close together, if that makes sense? In other words, have them look closer to the original set up in regards to "blending" but still keep the new shader work.I think this would be one way of eliminating the dreaded "grids" that I'm suffering with.I've already tried using your ShaderHLSL folder with my original "WaterConstants" but it's not working. I thought the fix would be in the WaterConstants file but apparently not. Thanks again for all of your help! Alexander Alonso

He also discovered that this grids are directly related to the type of water you are using in REX. His name is Gerhard look for his posts because I think most of the information he has offered is key to make the new shader water look any way you want.On more thing.. you can also make 'hybrid' Shaders set. For example, if you take the ORIGINAL shaders, and replace all its folders with the new shaders EXCEPT the Terrain folder, then you will have the SM old Water but eveyrthing else will be 3.0 that is also worth a try.

I've already been experimenting with Gerhard's settings and it definitely shows promise. Still getting the grids but they are not as prominent and the shimmering from the sun's reflections on the water, particularly towards the horizon have been lessened. I will continue to experiment further.Great idea regarding the 'Hybrid' shaders. I'll work with that as well, though I still need to obtain the original ShadersHLSL folder... ;)Thanks again! May 29, 201016 yr HiI tested your new file you gave me yesterday but it still doesnt work :( It seems that some planes and objects(trees/lights and other building) are nor render as they should....I'll stay in DX10... At last, the water is more beautifull :( Thx for your help and patience

(if you see and read this entire thread you'll notice that most of the problems ATI people had were driver related)

(if you see and read this entire thread you'll notice that most of the problems ATI people had were driver related)I'm with catalyst 10.5I reverted back to 10.4 just to see but still the same problem.I'll try older version todayI dont know if ther eis something to do with this, but if I go to C:/user/myname/appdata/local/microsoft/fsx there is 2 folders: shaders and shaders10. Inside shaders10 there is shadersHLSL
May 29, 201016 yr Author I dont know if ther eis something to do with this, but if I go to C:/user/myname/appdata/local/microsoft/fsx there is 2 folders: shaders and shaders10.Those are you Shader CACHE folders..... try this, RENAME THEM BOTH rename shaders to shaders.old and rename shaders10 to shaders10.oldand one more thing... make sure (and this is VERY IMPORTANT) that you have a ShadersHLSL folder INSIDE your FSX folder. and tell me what the contents of that folder are. I have the feeling you moved your ShadersHLSL somewhere else.
