May 24, 201016 yr Hi *******,When I enabled the SM3 shaders I get a 10fps drop (I'm capped at 30) when viewing just water with my GTX285. When I revert back to the standard shaders, I get no drop in fps.Any ideas? Thanks,Dylan

May 25, 201016 yr Hi *******,I noticed there was a shaders folder in '..(user)\appdata\local\microsoft\FSX'.Do the contents of this folder '\shaders' and '\shaders10' have any impact on shader mods?David.

If you rename or delete them, they will be re-built every time you start FSX with the 'sources' found in ShadersHLSLDeleting ..(user)\appdata\local\microsoft\FSX simply ensures you are not using an old version of your shaders (or you can use the SHADER_CACHE_VERSION option as explained in the readme.txt file)

May 25, 201016 yr Author What the difference between normal version and "Performance Edition"?1) Performance edition does NOT include ENBSeries2) Performance edition is 100% Shader Model 3.0 (the other is 90% 3.0) the benefits of using this edition is the peformance gains with ATI cards are quite good. 3) Shadow filters were simplified, they are now using POINT instead of LINEAR for the min/mag filters.Visually, they are about the same...
May 25, 201016 yr Will do, this week is going to be a very busy one for me :) but when I have some time I'll go over to your forum to discuss this further. By the way, yes.. I also saw the whitecaps and wind influence, in fact if you check closely the mod shader I did it incorporates most of the features found in the DX10 shader for the water. I did not incorporate the whitecaps because it was adding more steps to an already time consuming process, but yes.. there IS room for improvement and I'm willing to work closely with you to make the FS Water configurators/shaders 100% compatible in the future. I guess I need more free time, next week I'm starting some consulting work for a full month ON SITE for a client.. so, no forums for me.*******, your awesome and thank you. When you get a chance, please find a way for us to be able to fly heavy aircraft with your mods in FSX. I'm tiring of flying Cesna's.Mitch
May 25, 201016 yr ******* , first let me say warm thanks for this mod.Could you please say the benefits of using SM 3.0 (latest-Performance edition) with simple words for my case.(Performance/Visual improvement and

The performance 3.0 shaders work great with my ATI 4870X2. In fact, they have improved my performance so much that they have allowed me to switch back from DX10 to DX9, which I prefer for several reasons (cockpit tips, taxi arrows, proper aircraft lights, no flashing runways). Thank you once again for all of your tremendous contributions to this sim - I am very appreciative of your time and efforts!Regards,Major V
May 25, 201016 yr Just tried this out and it seems to work great I am running in DX10 mode It would appear that my Frame rate is more stable steady 20fps in highly populated areas . running ATI 4670 graphics card . Also I am running the non performance edition just noted the performance edition would you suggest updating to this version or stay with the older version if I am Happy with it ?

May 25, 201016 yr *******, you're the man!I just tried your latest performance edition on a very nice flight in the Dodo 206. It's marvelous to enjoy FSX now with silky smooth frames and lots of autogen and sharp textures. FSX has improved tenfold with BF=0, ATI Vsync fix and SM 3.0 mod performance version. All thanks to you :( Btw, I've noticed that the 5870 doesn't care about autogen trees. Houses take a fps hit. However it seems like trees can be set to highest possible without really affecting fps.
