What is going on here in the FSX forum?I understand I am a visitor here, just a guest and a recent one, now having internet access instead of just reading it at the library and coming back from days gone bye it is great to be here and I have always loved the premium content, right here from you guys in this forum and have rarely missed reading it online from where ever I had access.recent events, or shall I say activity make me feel that I dont even know the place, its hard to put into words exactly.But being accustomed to differences in opinions and comments from professional and newbies alike as well as the occasional troll that all forums have to deal with, the atmospere in here just seems a bit stifled in a very over the top way. Dont mean to offend or disrepect anyone. like what I am posting right now, I feel like it will likely vanish, get locked or deleted instead of discused. So what if even a majority do agree or disagree, why cant others come and join the thread and make thier point, wrong or right or whatever? I have watched countless threads get locked, or people vanishing, leaving or getting miffed and I just dont see what is the problem, why they get bashed or thier post locked or deleted, and Though I probably will regret saying it, the excuse that the Mods are giving just dont seem to hold water, however that being said, I am no mod and I have read the one strike your out rules, and frankly am glad, but That is not what I am posting about. I am posting about mere opinions that SEEM to be contrary to someone elses politics maybe? or is this just some new rules here at Avsim that I dont get, I must have missed the sign?Whats with all the heavy hitting from Some of the older members and the Mods? The last thing I want is ANY enemies, but I have never seen anything like this in any forum that I can think of - period.Is Avsim now made up of just 12 yearolds that are so imature they need to be treated this way? I am 48 and I bet most of the members here at at least middle age or older, am I wrong?Maybe I am missing something but I know the other day some knew or know exactly what I am talking about even though another mod looked into it and basically "didn't see anything" or to that effect, yet it seemed plain as day to me and some others.I am just making the observation that it donest feel very free flowing in here, like you better share this viewpoint or else, or its "we will decide what should be the right viewpoint" or topic or take your pick, when a majority of the time there is nothing at all offensive taking place at all, who knows what it is, I just know that Avsim is geting a bad rep for this and I dont think it is healthy. Again, I dont know how exactly to express it, but right now the fact that I feel like I am walking into a room with a few loose mother hen type bullies ready to pounce just for posting this speaks for itself, makes me uneasy, tense.Sorry guys, just feel like I am watching the forum go down the drain.I Will not mention what specific other forums where other are making comments and would apreciate it if none of that crud is posted in here or as a response as well, as it will only fuel the reasons to lock, delete or what have you. Just keeping it an AVSIM only discussion, please.So, smack me or whatever you like, but what gives?

Of course, and I think we are all for that.As I mentioned, civil discussions and then ....someone is bashed, kicked, post locked or deleted. This is about simply expressing a view or topic that is not popular with some one else, pretty much as simple as that.Its not just me, but I chose to post in here rather than to join "other" discusions that are pointless and negative.

I enjoy coming here pretty much every day, and always learn something new.No problems with the Mods that I can see :( If you try using rude or disrespectful language, you do not last long around here,but that hardly is a "problem"..

All these tweaks tend to get a bunch of folks excited,hoping for a silver bullet and then there is a dust-up between folks for whom it improves things and folks who either see no improvementor a deterioration.. and then Carenado releases the Bonanza and there are more interesting things to discuss :(

I tend to agree with you, Player 2, and also didn't understand why David locked that topic. I could have PM'd him to know why, but i guess it wouldn't do me any good.I run my own flightsim site and i run it how i think it's best. If they think this is how they want it, let it be.Regards.

Why would the Avsim FSX forum become a topic of negative vibes for just that, what would be the point?Anyhow, I am done ranting about this, I just dont like seeing Tom's Avsim becomeing the brunt of jokes in the other forums for what took me a little courage in trying to point out.There is some devious type garbage that has been going on, I've seen it as well as others. I guess I feel like my favorite site is being missused and it is starting to make me feel very negative so I best just leave it as it is. I am done posting in here for a while...Take care.

This is generally a forum where people feel "at home", where they can discuss, exchange, learn and have fun in a pleasant atmosphere.Because you are speaking of this thread I locked let me give you an explantaion.When Alvega opens a thread called "BP=0 since 2007?" and says "I whish i knew about this before." there is already a red light that flashes in my mind.What does he mean exactly? What does he expect from this post?Everyone who followed the long BP=0 thread knows that ******* didn't discover the "holy grail" one day while he was shaving his face in front of the mirror.The first guy who spoke about it is called Aime Leclercq who is part of Avsim french forum and a talented developer. ******* never took the authorship of this finding.******* made his own experimentation, spent hours and hours making tests and then opened the BP=0 thread that was alive for months before he decided to write a summary of his shared research. (Lot of guys with solid skills helped him, this was one of the most interesting thread we've had in this forum.)After Alvega received an answer from Bojote and answered him in a friendly way I locked this post because it was pointless, because it was this kind of post that goes south very quickly (probably not the OP wish but we have enough experience of the very few folks that can jump on this kind of discussion) and above all because it was, as you said, a "new countless forum post on the subject".So it was nothing agressive from me, just a preventive move.Now, regarding the "mere opinions that SEEM to be contrary to someone elses politics", I'm sorry to tell you that you are completly wrong.This is a free place, no politics, no agendas, nothing to be for or against.We mods try as much as we can to keep the place civilized and friendly. As a moderator, on a well known flight sim publisher/developers forum with 21058 posts over a number of years...I can appreciate David's position, I've found myself in a similar position on many occasions. As moderators, we do our best, we do what we think is right, in accordance with forum rules. Simple as that. However, moderators are not perfect, and sometimes members opinions differ as to what constitutes a topic that should be locked.David will have locked the topic with the best of intentions, simple as that. And from what I've seen he does a fine job.It's not always an easy job guys, don't hold us to impossible standards, or expect your opinion to coincide with ours.

Since I got FSX only last March I'm more familiar with the FS9 forum and things are a bit different there.And David, I f you think the thread you have closed was useless, then you had to close many, many more threads which are useless IMHO. Currently half of the threads are dealing with - I fear to say it .... BP= 0 and related issues... and only repeating the same theories and questions. Many of these repeating threads are completely useless. Wolfgang

Give the moderators a break. It's frequently a tough job, support they need, criticism they don't. They are not the epitome of perfection. No one is.
