May 15, 201016 yr What kind of music do you like to listen to while flying? This is just a question out of curiosity.I listen most to 80s music, Piano music, Jazz, Phil Collins (he recently became his own genre in my world :(), and the Top 40s on the Billboard charts (only rarely though). If I want to be in a relaxed mood such as when in heavy traffic I'll listen to jazz, but if I'm going on a long cruise in my Cessna then break out the 80s road trip music!! I particulary like Phil Collins because his music gets me pumped up, and its feel good, clean music, unlike many songs today.===========================================================Oh by the way, if your looking for a great music website, there is an internet radio station that is called Shoutcast Radio and it has hundreds, maybe even thousands of radio and they have a wide variety of stations, even ones you would never think off. You can play them in a web browser, or if you download Winamp you can listen to them and save the station in a playlist to play them later, and also so you can get hotkeys to switch to the next radio station in your playlist, turn the volume up/down, etc. The stations are high quality MP3 and AAC format (HD stations are 128-320kbps!)Here is a link to shoutcast radio if anyone wants to look at it: http://www.shoutcast.com/ See You In The Skies...gman!"Impossible things are simply those which so far have never been done." - Elbert Hubbard

May 15, 201016 yr Never while flying... I tend to listen to ATC instead.. :( Otherwise it /Johan Windh
May 15, 201016 yr CFM-56, RB 211, PW 2040... :( Same here, music is great for stress relief in rush hour traffic. Jazz, groove, some of the downtempo lounge stuff and occasionnally Iron Maiden works for me depending on my mood.If I were to listen to music when flying, I'd probably go with Maiden's Aces High! :( Onur K. May 15, 201016 yr You all should be listening to Bob Dylan, even when you're not flying. :( BTW, Gman, you shouldn't be listening to Phil Collins; it's seriously bad for your health. Chuck that copy of No Jacket Required in the incinerator and go pick up a copy of Highway 61 Revisited. You'll thank me later.Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?
May 16, 201016 yr I just connected an XM satellite radio into the microphone jack on the back of my computer. It works great because I can adjust the volume separately from the computer volume for when ATC starts running it's mouth. Mostly keeping it on the 60's on 6 lately. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
May 16, 201016 yr Author Looks like simmers have a wide variety of genres they like to listen to! :] When I bought FSX in 2008 I would go on long cruises just appreciating the sound of the engines and the air flowing over the windshield. Speaking of XM, the first thing that made me want to listen to radio in the cockpit in was a video of the Cirrus SR22 with XM Satellite Radio. Before I thought it wouldn't be realistic, but when I found out music can be played through the headset in airplanes I started listening a lot. I do miss flying without any music though and just listening to the engines though, especially on the long hauls when you fall asleep then wake up to a sunrise over the Atlantic with the engines quietly humming and the cold air rushing over the fuselage. It would also be awesome to wake up over the sea with a song like the one below; really awakening. This video kinda explains why I like listening to music when flying, it gives me almost a spiritual feeling, or a feeling of bliss depending on what song is playing: BTW, Gman, you shouldn't be listening to Phil Collins; it's seriously bad for your health. Is his drumming too loud :(? I bet it couldn't be as bad as some of the songs today that's called music, heh :( See You In The Skies...gman!"Impossible things are simply those which so far have never been done." - Elbert Hubbard
May 16, 201016 yr You know, When I made that video a few years back Gman, I'd never expected it would get 30,000 some views, or that somebody on avsim would use it to make a point hahah :(For what it's worth, most of the time I listen to alternative rock, hard rock, pop punk, etc. I have a thing for beauties though. Wunala's probably the prettiest 747 I've ever seen, hand's down - The aboriginal artwork is totally stunning. She deserved a special song ;).

May 16, 201016 yr What kind of music do you like to listen to while flying?Engines, wind and ATC plus overhead swtich clicks and AP knob knocking. I love them seriously! :( When on the ground though, I love ambient, electronics, chillout, but also jazz and so called 'world music'. Depends on my mood.

Dylan is the man (or at least one of them).I just connected an XM satellite radio into the microphone jack on the back of my computer. I need to try that.Overall, I like jazz, as well as some electronic (Fat Boy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" is IMO one of the best take-off songs around ;)) when traffic's light. I tend to flip the tunes on at cruise, though; what's better than (figuratively) looking out the front window at 35,000 and listening to Miles Davis?

I haven't heard '######es Brew' yet, should I chase that up? Heard nothing but good stuff from critics, but a lot of negative feedback from listeners.Cheers, SLuggyedit - wow, I didn't name Miles' 1969 album, so don't blame me for swearing!
