October 12, 201015 yr Nothing from the payware side, except for FlyTampa's but only for FS9. I would like to see them do an FSX version, but I think it was said in their forum (long ago) that the FSX one was good enough to look elsewhere. There is some freeware files you can install that look pretty good here:http://www.flywestwind.com/scenery/scenery_display.asp?sceneryid=18 i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
October 12, 201015 yr Moderator Anyone know a good KSFO (San Fran) for FSX?Yes, have a look at Flightbeams new KSFO. Looks like the FSX version is not too far from done and they are also doing an FS9 version as well. It's very FlyTampa-ish looking from their texture work. The devs also mentioned that so far in their testing their getting great FPS vs. the stock KSFO.Here's their link. http://www.flightbeam.net/------------------------------------------------------------------------------As far as addon sceneries go, I would also have to give a thumbs up to anything done by FSDT. As you can see from the stuff listed in my sig I have just about everything FSDT makes, minus their Hawaiian packages. Frankly, I dont think you can go wrong with anything FSDT makes. They offer some of the best customer service and all their sceneries look and perform great, even the largest hubs perform as good as default and sometimes even better. I'm also a fan of FlyTampa, although I dont own many of thier FSX packages because they are mostly airports that I dont have much interest in. However I will probably buy Vienna.I will admit though that I am usually a little more careful and hesitant to buy anything from Aerosoft for a few reasons.First, most of the stuff that Aerosoft actually produces is seldom mip mapped, leaving you a lot of times with the dreaded shimmering textures regardless of your AA and AS settings. Thus leaving you a bit of work to do on your own. Secondly, while Aerosoft in house sceneries generally look good from a texture and scenery point of view, they often are lacking in terms of performance FPS wise. Probably the best example of this for me has been their NiceX scenery. Nice is a pretty small airport in an area that isn't very densly populated when compared to other major cities in FSX. However, that airport gives me about the lowest FPS of any addon airport I own, even with AI turned off and no weather. As an example using the same FSX general settings I can fly into FSDT's KJFK with AI off and no weather and get 27 to 35 FPS in the PMDG 747. Then flying into Nice X (LFMN) with the same plane and settings, it yields about 18-20 FPS. I started a thread on Aerosoft about it which grew to about 12 pages and basically in the end the provided some mip maps for people who cant do it themselves, but nothing was ever done to improve performance. All the other stuff I own that was actually done by Aerosoft isn't as bad as NiceX is, but still not as good as FSDT or FlyTampa.Third, i'm not going to say that the folks at Aerosoft aren't nice because they are, but their customer service leaves a bit to be desired as far as getting problems solved. I think it is partly because they publish a lot of stuff made by other developers and aren't able to always give the help needed at first without having to contact the developer who made the product. All of this can be a bit time consuming compared to the likes of FSDT and FlyTampa where you can talk to the developers directly to get things fixed. Mostly I get tired of them telling people when asked about their computer specs and the customer tells them they have and i7xxx overclocked to 4.2ghz, 12GB RAM, etc., and they tell the customer that his computer specs are actually too much and its probably something wrong with their computer. I have heard them use that excuse a few times and frankly it really bugs the daylights out of me. They told me the same thing when I complained about NiceX, well it must be your rig since its overclocked, etc. Funny though that all my other sceneries and a/c work fine? I could go on and on about stuff like that.Fourth, they don't offer any trial and or refunds/credits for stuff you buy that your not satisfied with. Basically once you buy it, its yours. I know that a lot of other devs are like that as well, but at least with FSDT, Imaginsim, and maybe one or two others they offer a trail. Some others that I wont mention, will give you a refund or a credit to another product if your not happy. The only reason I wont mention them is because that policy isn't stated on their website. This isn't a big deal though with devs like FlyTampa because there sceneries are usually known to be trouble free and George/Martin are pretty active on their forum to help if a problem arises.Lastly, I personally dont feel that some of the in-house guys at Aerosoft are fully up to date with the best methods of modeling, texturing, and LOD'ing. By this I mean have a look at Orly which was one of their latest in-house projects. Many people complaining about poor FPS, etc. I know that not everyone can render stuff like FSDT can using their Addon Manager, but when another dev like FlyTampa can model KaiTak with the majority of the city and no one complain about poor FPS, then something is not up to date or optimized as well as it could be with the Aerosoft stuff.I would say that LatinVFR is really comming around with their stuff as well. I have two by them, Toncontin and SBGR, and it really good looking as well as good performing. Plus Richardo over on their site monitors their forum and is usually pretty quick to help if you have an issue. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
October 12, 201015 yr Interesting read, especially on the upcoming KSFO, I'll have to watch for that although until now, never heard of them. On a support related topic, I strongly think the easiest recommendation to others that can become biased is rating a companies support, especially having just read yours. Mine of course is also biased but in the complete opposite direction. I have always had ok support with FlyTampa and their forum is actually still pretty active but have had horrible, actually the worst support experience of my entire flight sim life with FSDT. Not only was I locked out of the thread but a certain dev took it upon hiself to then edit my responce, then he eventually deleted it and banned me for an insanely innocent post. The best part was I watched it unfold and not only got screenshots but also copied it in the various stages in a word doc. Just look at the now edited reply he posted on page #1 of this topic. Even edited he still said "But fine, we will work on a fix even if it is,, Just a couple of you". The truth is, no it wasn't just a couple but probably scared people away since people see his normal responces.Anywho, my point is to each their own experience. I have had adequate support from PMDG for example and other incredible while others seem to go weeks without a responce. I never needed Aerosofts support but atleast their forum seems to be active.Anyway, despite that I have stayed away from his forum, and useless advice since I see lots of people that has asked an innocent question there has seen he tends to rip into his customer base, but again, my experience with him will undoubtedly make my recommendations very biased. I do however try not to keep that from recommending software others will enjoy and have in fact since then recommended them countless times. Many people know I more than dabble in web design and when time permits hope to make a site to help push the products I think deserve it as well as voice my other experiences to those that deserve it as well... stay tuned! On the side of why I prefer FlyTampa, it is the way they include sounds of the area, such as car traffic of nearby highways and other awesome immersive sounds that I have only seen them do. It's sad they don't have more but personally they are second to none with their sound adaption and sense of humor that can sometimes be found throughout certain areas. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
October 16, 201015 yr Some of us knew for awhile about KSFO being done by a new developer. The major important outlook of it all is this:1) KLAX is being done by FSDT 2)KLAX and KSFO are both United Airlines hubs which will make for flights between the two or flights within the US of other United hubs.I have recently purchased FlyTampa's FlyBoston and FlyBuffalo. I was quite amazed when I saw the previews for KBUF. I could see the amount of fine detail design of each airport and I am very much impressed.:( Kenneth M."PUP"Craddock IIPC: Alienware Aurora R4 Intel I7-3820.....As for the rest is classified http://pup4ordfsxmore.blogspot.com/
October 16, 201015 yr Its too bad there arnt more Int; US Airports out there, such a huge market you'd think more dev's would do US Airports Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
October 16, 201015 yr I have a bunch of FSDT stuff, mainly because they put out airports that I really fly alot and wanted. Their KORD was the first aiport I ever bought, and love it alot, but it has become outdated.I have their PHNL which I think is fantastic, their KDFW looks very very good but has some issues, and as an aviator that flies around the Hawaii Islands alot, I found their Hawaii Vol 1 a must, but those too have some issues.Their KLAS is very nice as well. Havent seen any issues with that.I have heard nothing but great things about FlyTampa, and one of their efforts will most likely be my next airport purchase. Boston maybe (as that is my AvA hub, despite the fact I think I have flown there maybe twice.), or maybe St. Maarten. October 16, 201015 yr I have all the FlyTampa releases for FSX and they're by far the best airport scenery developers out there. I have also just bought Aerosoft's approaching Innsbruck which is really good and couples along nicely with FlyTampa's LOWW and PMDG's JS4100 Gavin Price
October 16, 201015 yr I was thinking of getting the Innsbruck. I love to manually fly that approach ever since I did the mission hehe. The funny thing about FlyTampa, is I almost never bought anything from them because I thought they were just FS9 and hadn't done much for FSX. I hesitated in getting the KBOS (my hometown port) for a long time but finally did and wow. I too think they are numero uno and now have all their stuff. You don't hear much from them but from what I've seen it must be because they take their time and get it right. I did recently get the Aerosoft EHAM and LEPA from Simwings. Both are good I think despite some things I read. I just wanted to do the Martinair flight in style.@Scott, just curious but is one of the KDFW issues the fact that each gate is gate #25 by chance? :( That's all I see everywhere,,, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25I would check their forum,,, but I'm "Banned" :( *Also on the KBOS, the FPS hit can be pretty hard but also deceiving since they are right on the water so if you have your water detail up it may hurt. If you can move around the default though you should be ok with FT's. In "fairness", it's kind of like KORD. Even the default can hurt since there is a lot going on around it and if you fly with real weather, you can normally expect 3+ layers of clouds on top too. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

This is fixed I believe, but i have yet to ever use their elevated taxi bridges because if you set your mesh to max, you get these little bumps that almost look like blockades around them that crash your plane should you try to cross them. They disappear should you lower the mesh settings, but that is something I have not been willing to do thus far. October 17, 201015 yr Commercial Member Really wish someone would pay more attention to the sort of second tier of US airports, especially out west here... I've personally had enough of LAX, JFK, SFO, ORD etc. No one's even talking about doing places like Phoenix, Tucson, Denver, Albuquerque, San Diego, Salt Lake City etc...Someone should do Burbank too - I flew in there last week and that airport has tons of character. October 17, 201015 yr Someone should do Burbank too - I flew in there last week and that airport has tons of character.Funny you should say that. I just used that airport to fly a bunch of flights recently. I love that airport, and I love its location. Love to take off south and go right over Universal Studios.ANd I personally voted from San Diego in the FSDT poll. Would love to see a quality effort on that airport. Landing west is a really fun LOC appraoch to fly. In fact I think PMDG should create their own simulator and take over the Market that microsoft left. That's just my opinion though Gavin Price

Frankly I am really surprised that KPHX has slipped thru the cracks in all the developers agendas of airports to make. As much as I would love to see KTUS get done since I am from Tucson, I doubt we will ever see that, but I would be happy to get KPHX and KABQ. There's a freeware version of KABQ for FS9 that's not bad and you may be able to get it to work in FSX. I have never tried, but now that I think about it, if you make a new ADE for it, you maybe able to get it to work.On the California front, Cielosim is working on KSAN for FS9 and then FSX. While I would like Burbank also, KONT is the other SoCal airport I would like to get since I have flown in and out of it a lot in the past.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I'd love a high quality KDEN as well
