FSX and FS9 real wx server gone for good?

Featured Replies

I was wondering why last night I suddenly inflight to KJAX I got a message in FSX -- "real wx is not available check internet connection" -- well my internet connection was just fine - so I checked FS9 real weather too -- same message. It seems that fs9 and FSX are officially in the back seat before Microsoft Flight is released.I use ASV for real weather too so its not a problem for me - but people who rely on the FSX real weather may be in for a big let down.

I was wondering about that as I was sure my Internet was fine, and I has no problems with my firewall. Really annoying as I do not use any 3rd party weather system.

This is sad... Well, it seems the announcement of Flight has officially made FS2004 and FSX obsolete. I'll have to go out and buy ActiveSky I guess, or learn how to use the REX Weather engine.

Just for kicks I just fired up FS9 and FSX and got that message also.Guess I am glad I have ASE since I never use the built in weather engine anyway.Perhaps their serve is just down or they are working on it to sync it up with the new sim?

That would be the prudent assumption rather than jumping to nefarious conclusions. Why in the world would they shut down the FS9 and FSX weather server because a new sim was announced? It's not like you can go out and buy Flight right now.

Can you imagine how many people who dont own a weather program like ASE or REX, would be furious if the weather server was shut down for good and only the new sim had an active server. Although i'm sure the guys at Hifi wouldn't mind if that were the case, lol.

I am sure I just saw a B29 bomber pass overhead with the name "Enola Microsoft". Do you think this is a conspiracy?

To loosely quote the OP"It seems that fs9 and FSX are (NOT) officially in the back seat before Microsoft Flight is released."I added the NOT  :(

LOL....after reading this thread I stand by my signature below.......

Hoping For CAVU --- Chris

The machine running the weather server is getting a little long in the tooth and it has had a few hiccups lately. As far as I know there are no plans to pull the plug on the server and I have seen no black helicopters circling the Redmond campus. :(

Thank you, Adam. But you know there will always be the conspiracy theorists... :( Hope you're keeping busy. :(
