MS Flight Improvement Wish List

Featured Replies

Half a dozen(6)?I thought the only 3rd party weather addons for FSX were ASE/ASE and REX.Personally I use ASA and it pretty much mirrors the conditions the real word airports are reporting. Maybe something is wrong with yours, but I get real world depiction just fine in my FSX install.I would like to see volumetric clouds however and better transitions from IMC to VFR or visa versa, rather than just going from 10 miles visibility to 1 mile instantly.
Just Google "fsx clouds" and you should get an idea of how many there are!!Just noticed that this was in regards to weather addons not textures; my mistake please disregard above statement!!Regards, Mike Mann

Hi,My prediction is that Flight will either have no canned ATC and no AI aircraft, or be essentially the same as FSX. Reason? It's becoming a Games for Windows LIVE title, which means MS assumes you will be flying mostly online. The FSX MS bloggers said about the same thing when asked to improve the ATC and AI system last time, and while we did get one or two improvements (AI sound, most notably) we didn't get much. I assume they will put very few resources into these areas this time as well.I could be wrong though...

you could be ......

Don't get your hopes up about Flight. It's nothing more than FSX with a new name and maybe a few new bells and whistles, but its basically FSX. Microsoft are NOT building a new sim from scratch they are just leveraging the FSX code base and giving it a new lick of paint.

I would quite like to see a really good replay mode. Simular to what Gran Turismo achieves, and that is simply stunning. Imagine pulling off a perfect greaser and watching it back in near "real" graphics. Would be pretty cool!

...and you know this because? Oh, just like the rest of us you're relying on an educated guess based entirely on unfounded suppositions... :( IMNSHO, you may be entirely correct! Only time will tell. OTOH, having seen in person the actual realized results of what was to have been FSvNext, I actually hope you are right!

I agree, I think when you talk about this stuff you really have to distinguish between whats possible and what's going to be in the next release. Two seperate things entirely.

Why would you want just an updated FSX with a few bells and whistles? They could be giving us much more than that and still succeed with Flight.

I share your thought 100%.It will be a kind of arcadish game with not ATC, no AI aircraft and no simulation features, a gamepad and with a 5 minutes learning curve will be be more than enough. It will be also capable to use Facebook and Twitter within the game. :vomit:That's a pity anyway.... angry.gif

You evidently overlooked part of my reply... the part where I said "...having seen in person the actual realized results of what was to have been FSvNext..."This isn't mere guesswork. I attended a Developer's Conference in Orlando, FL where we were presented with live demonstrations of what FSvNext was to have included. Not rendered videos. Live.Granted, the live demonstrations were based on the ESP2 platform, but given that ESP2 was based on the already completed core code for FSvNext, it was representative of what had already been achieved. It was far, far more than just "a few bells and whistles." :(

Thanks! At the tender age of sixty-two, I appreciate being referred to as a "kid..." :(

And I sincerely wish I could share some of the details, but there's that pesky little detail involving an NDA signed with my blood... :(
