September 28, 201015 yr Commercial Member This is the only way to have extra trial mode.Tried that and, another bug:Now it gave me 2 uses, and after the taskbar icon said it was ready, pressing "Fly now" resulted in a message about the program couldn't find FSX in the registry, contact technical support, then it quits. However, FSX had started by the FSX boost anyway, but it crashed on start, maybe because it was starting while FSX boost was quitting...And of course, thanks to this new bug, I've consumed AGAIN an usage of the 2 I had, and still not being able to run the program successfully once. Both my FSX registry keys are fine:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0\AppPathHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\microsoft games\flight simulator\10.0\SetupPathThey both point to the same folder, which is correct for my FSX installation.Could be you are looking forHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\microsoft games\flight simulator\10.0\SetupPathInstead ?This wouldn't work, because this key will not contain the FSX registry on an x64 machine, the Wow6432Node will. It's safer if you check the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key only, and even better if you check both but note, an x86 app that runs under x64 will get its call to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE routed to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node automatically, but you might have to change your project settings to build for x86, not "AnyCPU"...I had this issue on a .NET program that I made for another developer and, the working solution was:- Compile fox "x86", not "AnyCpu"- Use Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Microsoft Games\\Flight Simulator\\10.0") to find if there's a key there, and read the value of "SetupPath" if found- If you don't find FSX there, use Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Microsoft Games\\Flight Simulator\\10.0") to find if there's a key there and read the value of "AppPath" if you found it- Issue the warning ONLY if you haven't find FSX in ANY of the two locations. This will work both in 32 bit and 64 bit OSs. We do all that. The cure was >>Compile fox "x86", not "AnyCpu"<<. Very hard to know that. http://www.737ng.gr/1297.zip Edited September 28, 201015 yr by FSPS_Team

September 29, 201015 yr Hi,To get back to the original question - 'has anyone tried it yet' the answer to that is yes I have. Now there has been a lot of debate here about there being problems with the install. I had a problem but it was me not reading the manual right and the FSPS team gave me another two go's at the demo.I am suitably impressed. My frame rates and smoothness were improved no end.I had tweaked FSX to the best of my ability (which is fairly limited) and the FSX Booster has enhanced my viewing whilst flying. Now I am not a wizard when it comes to tinkering with settings and cfg files so to me this product was a breath of fresh air.Perhaps some of the more talented tinkerers amongst you don't need the Booster but I found it worth while and I am now running the full version on my system.Everyones computer set up will be different so there cannot be a uniform set of results but it has worked for me.Gary Gary Buss
September 29, 201015 yr Author After all not always very positive comments so far great to hear someone who has been helped by the product :(
September 29, 201015 yr bussgarfield and Garcia, what are your computer specs?I usually tend to believe to people who make tests, publish their computer specs and have more than 2 posts. Those are not seeing any positive results. Of course, I may be wrong. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
September 29, 201015 yr The specs of my computer are as follows.Windows Vista.Intel duo core E8500 3.16Ghz CPU, 500GB SATA hard drive, EVGA nForce780i SLI motherboard, 8GB DDR2 memory, 780 watt PSU, 3 X NVIDIA Geforce 9800GT (512MB) grapihics cards each running a 22" HANNS.G w/s monitor, one of the 3 cards also running a second 19" monitor for the captains PFD instruments and a second of the cards also running the captains FMC - dual outputs. All complimented by Logitech 5.1 surround sound. The tweaks I had made prior to the FSX Booster installation were gleaned from an indepth article in PC Pilot magazine and this alone transformed the graphics and frame rates from the basic FSX installation. The biggest effect I had was setting the frame rate slider to 'ultimate' as opposed to a set rate of say 35fps.The installation FSX Booster increased the frame rates by 50%.I used the 2 demos to fly from Alicante (my home airport) to Stansted in clear, dry, daylight conditions for the first and then from Alicante to Heathrow (Mega Airport X) in rain, reduced visibility and night conditions. I was impressed with the results and there was a vast improvement on the basic FSX and my tweaks. The support from the FSPS was excellent and despite the problems with my first installation (which was my fault), they gave me a further 2 demos to try.Hope this may be of some assistance.Gary Gary Buss
September 29, 201015 yr Thank you Gary, that's what I wanted to hear. Not just "this doubled my FPS.. it's amazing" and so on.I guess this software is ok for people who don't tweak and don't have much knowledge in this field. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
October 1, 201015 yr Hello! On the German simMarket website it says "*Note: One licence per PC "Does that mean that I have to purchase the product again if I change my hardware, or have to reinstall Windows...?My second question: Do I have to have a internet connection on my FSX computer...or can I purchase the product on one PC and install FSX Boost on another without internet connection? And my last question: Do I have to run FSX Boost again if I change the settings in the FSX options, for example changing the scenery density slider...? I have read that all tweaks are lost as soon as you change something in the FSX options menu...Sorry for my bad English!Kind regards,Sebastian

That means that you own forever the serial and you can tranfset it wherever you like. You must have internet connectionIf you want to make any change inside fsx sliders, then run fsx without booster, save your changes and start fsx fooster and fsx.Do not forget that you have the option to use the demo two times.Do not worry about your english. Mine is not better that yours.Regards,FSPS Team
October 2, 201015 yr I tired the demo last night...I think it work, I saw ZERO performance in Frames and a hell of a lot of studdering. Didn't work for me, might work for you, at least try the demo. Maybe the product will get better with some updates, good luck to the Developers and thanks for the demo.Ron Hamilton Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
October 2, 201015 yr Hi,I thought I'd give this a try, more or less out of curiosity. My system specs are listed below. I did not see much of a difference with or without the use of this program. What I did notice is a slight downgrade in graphic quality without much of a benefit in performance and/or smoothness. All in all, the program is not for me. To test it first.Regards,FSPS TeamI'd say if someone is an average reader of forums like these, he can save a lot of money and is independent from some software product too by knowing what he's doing.I've read that review and must say that it does not correspond to the experiences posted in forums around (nor to mine). Just mentioning the positive reviews (which this one is the first of) and telling people about some unknown amount and source of "emails from our customers" fits in the picture of at least good advertising and marketing skills. See my postings as an attempt of equalizing the somehow very limited view coming from this course of action. While a trial option is a really nice thing (thumbsup on this), this one time only "trial" isn't the way to give comparable values if someone wants to find out if the money would be worth spending.
