Thoughts on Wilco/Feelthere EJets?

Try editing your aircraft config file like this:170 Viewpoint[Views]eyepoint=27.5, -1.7, 2.4 //(feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum190 Viewpoint[Views]eyepoint=35.6, -1.7, 2.4 //(feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum

Been flying the Wilco E190 for about a month now.Granted the learning curve was a bit difficult as there are some difference when comparing to a Boeing or an Airbus, but once you master it, what a pleasure to fly.Definately one of Wilco's better efforts.

A group of guys that apparently fly and work on the real aircraft have redone the fde and made changes to the cfg as well. They did it for all four feelthere jets, 170, 175, 190, 195. I used the 175 file and it is noticeably better like realistic trim levels od between 1.0 and 3.0 instead of 4 or 5. Make sure you read the entire thread sequence as he (Paulo) answers some questions you may have. Search thread title, Feelthere embraer 175 improvements in the FS9 forum.

I have both E-jets V2 and ERJ V2 and have been flying the E-175LR a lot now and really enjoy it, done some landings in total white outs with crosswinds with the auto pilot all the way down no problems, systems wise it's a pretty decent simulation and I really enjoy the call co pilot feature as well as the ability to load the plane as cold and dark by default. The downsides are the GP which isn't great to look at, (rest of cockpit is great 8/10)the night lighting does not bother me, and the lack of repaints with the package, you only get a few per version which is a bummer.Overall it's a solid 8/10 for me, compared to say the PMDG MD-11 which I give a 9.5/10Regards Paul

I recently bought the E-Jet V1. So up front I am not very experienced in them yet. That said here are my thoughts.I was surprised by how Feelthere has progressed. I own most of their planes. Some I don't even care to keep in my FS anymore. But the E-jet is much better. System simulation is very detailed. Their struggle with the airbus systems aside, Feelthere has always been a good system builder. Their 737, although a very early product, is still one of my favorite. The system is also the E-jet's biggest attraction to me. I want an excellent Honeywell Primus Epic avionics suite for my FS and who but Feelthere? :) After the ERJ V1, Legacy and Citation X I sort of deemed Feelthere's stuff "close but not up to" my personal standards but I'm sure glad I gave it another chance with the E-jet. I would totally get the ERJ v2 as well except that I really have all I need for a Primus 1000/2000 suite with the Eaglesoft Citation X v2.Not-so-good VC visuals is Feelthere's long standing tradition. And it's one of the things they are improving but slowly. I can understand how some are not satisfied with the night lighting, or other visual aspects of the VC. For me personally they are good enough. I'd rather have smooth moving VC gauges than a stunningly beautiful VC. The best deliver on both, runner-ups, one or the other.I tried the prior mentioned user mods and came out with mixed feelings. First the mods give a short list of things modified but no further information available as to how they are modified and the rationales behind. I want to be more educated before I trust a mod completely. The default E-jet makes survivable auto landings, the mods end in crash every time I tried. Watch this

and you can see both takeoff and approach were done with a trim setting over 4.0. but then I've seen videos of E-jet on very short final with a trim of 1.x. I can only think that in real life it is a bigger operational range and more dynamic depending on the load. Same with ITT. The mod bumps it up but I've seen videos where ITTs are both pretty high and pretty low. My point from my observations is that a good mod should really broaden the range of these parameters rather than shifting them in one direction or the other. The autopilot leaves more to be desired. You can gain or lose 600ft. in an A/P commanded turn. I've not tried VNAV extensively but I guess the complaints have to do with the autopilot as well. That's about it. I'll report back when I notice more things that I really like or do not like.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I'll check out the FS9 forum and try those edits here shortly.I'm unhappy to see that no one else has issues with the ALT hold (good for you guys though!). I am not sure what to do. I have not really had enough time to properly fly her!I'll report back!

Tim,Those views are nice! Thanks! As for some more things to write home about, as I did a quick 30 min hop!-on FPL page, no distances times etc update-unable to select approaches. In PHNL, I was able to select RWY 08L. However, when it brings me to the APPR page and I select ILS 08La, then go to the STAR page and select JULLE4.CHAIN, nothing inputs. It's all blank. However, I can select only the runway, and the STAR with success.-ALT hold seems better!-On replays, everything is "frozen". by that I mean, the instruments all show what they did on the ground and are frozen. The flight control positions and spoilers never change (and hitting keys won't allow them to, as in other addons).-Is there a way to lower/hide the yoke?Other than these few little things, I'm actually enjoying this addon!

Don't mix up the Wilco releases with the pure Feelthere ones. Talking about 737PIC and CRJ isn't the same as talking about those mentioned V2 titles.Scoob from Feelthere made the difference clear in this threadhttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/295078-now-that-the-aerosoft-thing-is-out/page__p__1823200__hl__wilcos__fromsearch__1#entry1823200
Fair enough, but it will be a LOOOOONG time before I forget the shenanigans when Wilco and FT were in cahoots. But, yes, the V.2 is a much better experience.

-Fpl pages : there is effectively no update (had never realised before) . on the PRG page the update works (you can have the Progress on the ND display also)-PHNL approach: this approach doesn't work also here. But other approaches and Star work well.-ALt hold: no probleme here-replay: works well here (I use Fs9 with E-jet V1)-yoke: I think there is no means to hide.(except from raising the seat)Glad you enjoy the E-jet.Guy

Thanks for the reply Guy.I'm using it in FSX Accel with Win 7 Ult 64 bit. Seems to run just fine, except for those listed issues. That's interesting about PHNL and the FPL page for us.Must be something to do with FSX replay, though this is the first, and only airplane since FS98 that has ever done that to me...

I love their ERJ 2.0, one of the better airliner sims for FSX I think. The built in voice checklists is a great feature.
