October 3, 201015 yr Yup! I'll try to chime in the CS forums... I hope they will had some avionic and systems sounds too... 'cause it's a real dead ship when engines are not running. That's too bad because the sounds that are there do feel really good. Except for the flap sound of course [i really doubt you're able to hear the flap move in a 707 cockpit_ Maybe there's an hyd pump that runs only when flaps are moved below the pilots chairs_ ]. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 3, 201015 yr Got me on that item, I really like the flap sounds, realistic or not :( and I agree about the too silent flight deck when avionics are running. Last point is already on the wish list in the other thread.
October 5, 201015 yr I did a small bug list of the post 1.1 issues over at CS. Interested readers might join this one. I'd really appreciate any help here and the aim is to improve this nice bird. Fell free to just look or add your comments.http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1286222773No "unflyable" items present but a big annoyance (pressurization) and some smaller ones currently. If Captain Sim continues to work that hard and fast the 1.2 will make it perfect then. The CTD and flashing textures guys are in another thread and for me there aren't any problems so far after approx 10 flights of intense usage and testing. Seems like some triggers on their systems were already found while others are tested. So normal operations for a relative new release in my eyes and far away from a bad concept or something.Make up your mind about a possible investment. Surely one of my better ones currently.
October 5, 201015 yr Dinner and a movie costs about the same.. and you get to do it once. You can take this girl on a many dates as you like :(LOL and I do. She is beautiful. And I do not have those issues (as well as CoolP does not) so I like the 707 very much. Regards,Stan
October 5, 201015 yr Author They are tenatively connecting the fatal errors (which are by no means uncommon by frequent fliers on their boards) to the Doppler Navigation System, which makes sense, since that is the big change since 1.0. This airplane is so good I"ll patiently wait for them to fix it,. And if you want to fly VOR to VOR that's perfectly possible.
October 5, 201015 yr INS is working fine too, Tim. I've been using it for some 15 flights now, flawless operation. I agree, something on the nav setup seems to trigger events for a bunch of guys around but they are already on it.
October 6, 201015 yr Anyway the 1.1 provided numerous improvements, and I'm sure if there are issuesCS will fix them. They have already confirmed 707 is #1 priority.
October 6, 201015 yr It's good to see how far CS has come in terms of customer support. I can only hope this trend will remain, together with their trend of doing classic Boeing jetliners. I'd buy a 737-100/200 series without much thought, particularly because they are still used a lot, mainly in South America. October 6, 201015 yr Author How do you set it on fire? And I don't know how to install / use the INS.
October 6, 201015 yr How do you set it on fire?I'm sorry, Tim, which fire are you talking about?INS activation is easy on the CS, the've included another panel.cfg file that will enable all necessary gauges then. Check the thread in the forums for details, seems like this is a common question. The current VC integration is a dummy one, activate it on the 2D popups only.http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1285100008I also did some small rework to have a double unit popup there with the update flags and stuff. As you are a Concorde X owner too, this setup should be more familiar to you then going just "single" on this plane.Looks like this It's on page one of that thread. Enjoy.
October 6, 201015 yr Author I'm sorry, Tim, which fire are you talking about?Cool, Cool. I'll just have to apply myself to figuring it out. As for fire, I meant the engine fire.
October 6, 201015 yr Cool, Cool. I'll just have to apply myself to figuring it out. As for fire, I meant the engine fire.Engine fire, that's an item I have to test too. Don't worry about the Civa approach, tricky little thing when starting. But it's the way to operate the 707 in style and fairly modern too. Concorde used it until her last days in 2003.Just follow the docs or the Civa thread in the CS forums if questions arise.
October 18, 201015 yr Tim. THANK YOU!This post - "For me, this airplane is worth every penny" made me say what the heck, it's $80. Dinner and a movie. HOLY COW... I haven't had this much fun with FS in a long time. The graphics are a work of art. That artificial horizon is amazing! Love the CIVA INS... hadn't used it since the old RFP 747 days. This is real, old school flying at its best. At the end of one weekend I have gotten my $80 worth. If you're on the fence with this bird I will quote Ferris Bueller - "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up" EddieKABQ
October 21, 201015 yr I have always been a Captain Sim fan, and I my trio of FS9 CS planes, the 707, F-104, and C-130, were far and away my favorites. But even "on sale" the new 707 is $70 Cdn. That's not pocket change. Can anyone say what kind of an FPS killer the new 707 is? ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
