November 7, 201015 yr That makes me sad, It really doesnt seem that long ago that I was working on that bird. Quite the history on that one as well as someone mentioned.Delivered to Pacific Western Airlines in Dec 1969 as CF-PWE and eventually registered in late 1980 to Nigeria Airways EI-BJP, then bounced between Presidential Airways, Key Airlines, and Air Zaire under a single registration N331XV, back to canada NWT Air in 1992 C-GNWD. It became property of FSBU (First Security Bank Of Utah) Where it was purchased by a new canadian LCC named WestJet in 1996 as C-GWJK. :)Someone mentioned that it probally has quite a few stories. I accually have a neat story regarding the purchase and how its delivery to WestJet ended up going down. Its been years since I heard the story, but basically as I remember it, the aircraft was paid for and needed desperatly as it was one of three inital 737-200s and delaying the start of service for WestJet. All the canadian end of the paper work made it a complete transaction of a airworthy aircraft. However for some reason the US side of it was being tied up with several weeks worth of red tape. So what we did was "sneak" a crew, who filed a flightplan, and arranged for fuel etc, and basically took her to canada where upon its arrival became a legal sale and delivery quite quickly when the US side of things realized what had happened and more specifically why. (We may not have ever started service if the inital money would have bled out waiting for aircraft delivery)I knew her as "Tail 732", and as much as I love the NG, These old WJA -200s will always have a place in my heart, I can still picture (and hear) it rolling on to the ramp in blizzard conditions, -35*C, still drenched in deicing fluid from the previous station, fully serviceable, and 10 minutes ahead of scheduale. I remember watching it depart for KLRD after we retired the -200s, and it appears other then a Full D check and cargo conversion, she hasnt flown much. It was very well taken care of here, if it goes to the right owner, Ill bet that it has at least another 10-15 years left. Amazing really. November 7, 201015 yr How bout everyone who wants to get the NGX pich in 1 dollar. Then we would have enough to buy it, and fix it up! Only, the funny thing is, i bet the NGX is more realistic. :( Alexander Brinson
November 8, 201015 yr How bout everyone who wants to get the NGX pich in 1 dollar. Then we would have enough to buy it, and fix it up! And then maybe we'll even have enough money left over to fly it a few times! :( Greg Hetherington
