November 15, 201015 yr OK, I've had FS for quite some time but this is the strangest thing I've ever seen.Note: I have the latest NVidia driver for 64-bit Windows7.Frank
November 15, 201015 yr OMG ITS THE ROLLS ROYCE OF DEATH @fbassyou have installed the Bojotes ShaderMod 3, I'm right? Some planes don't work with it...Otherwise I have no expplanation, sorry! November 15, 201015 yr If you downloaded a new video driver and installed it you might have to rebuild your FSX.cfg \Robert Hamlich/
November 15, 201015 yr If you have installed the shader mod from *******...add this to your FSX.cfg. The "[Graphics]" heading will already be in your config file.[GRAPHICS]ALLOW_SHADER_30=1If I remember correctly, this can also occur by setting an extreme bufferpool setting. Someone correct me if that is not the case.. Craig Sells
November 15, 201015 yr Also add "SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1" to the fsx.cfg under the "[Graphics]" header. It fixes most graphical anomalies. I've actually seen the shader cache go bad in flight, I just upped the cache version and then everything went back to normal. Paul Gluck. November 15, 201015 yr Author To guenseli - yes, I have the ShaderMod 3 installedTo maxam66 - the addition of the new video driver did not change my fsx.cfg file - I checked that.To baw303 - the "ALLOW_SHADER_30=1" was already installed; my bufferpool setting are:[bUFFERPOOLS]UsePools=0RejectThreshold=102400PoolSize=2097152//PoolSize=6000000NOTE: the poolsize setting was 6000000 (I commented the previous setting out)To thunderbold294 - I added "SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1" to the config file - no change. Thanks guys for your responses. The search goes on.Frank
November 16, 201015 yr Author Has this only happend since you installed the shader mod?No, I'm not sure what has changed in FSX. Perhaps it is a setting in the config file - I don't know. However, the shader mod was working perfectly the last time I ran FSX. One problem I had was to loose almost all my scenery files (mostly addons). Something happened while I was trying a re-install of a software package. Suddenly, most of my addon scenery disappeared. Since that time, I've installed all that scenery from backups.Frank

November 16, 201015 yr Wow, I knew Airbus was testing new fuel efficient engines with greater thrust, but I think they went overboard.
November 16, 201015 yr Wow, I knew Airbus was testing new fuel efficient engines with greater thrust, but I think they went overboard.Nothing to be alarmed about, that's the new Transwarp-capable Airbus. With Concorde, you could land in New York before you took off from London, but with the new Transwarp Airbus, you will be able to take off from Toulouse and land in New York before the aeroplane has been invented, and with inflation effectively in reverse, your airline ticket will only have cost you three pence.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
November 16, 201015 yr Also got thet with bufferpools entries added to FSX.cfgI removed the bufferpools entry and it never happened again. Some systems (GPU and driver combination) just do not like the bufferpools entry
November 16, 201015 yr Author Also got thet with bufferpools entries added to FSX.cfgI removed the bufferpools entry and it never happened again. Some systems (GPU and driver combination) just do not like the bufferpools entryAll very good responses - especially the funny ones. Thanks guys. Here is the solution - avoid memory loss.I use what I call a forced FSX configuration. By that I mean, I don't use the fsx.cfg file that is in my \Users folder. I use specially tailored config files stored in my main FSX folder. These config files are designed to match specific configurations for airliners, helicopters, fighter jets, and the like. When I was testing FSX for this problem I forgot that the fsx.cfg file I was using (in conjunction with a batch file that starts other programs along with FSX) was not the one in the \Users folder. When I reaccomplished the config file from a backup, FSX aircraft returned to their normal selves including proper sized engines. Just as an aside, you should have seen some of the other displayed aircraft with all sorts of parts floating in the air. Unbelieveable. So, once I "fixed" the config file all was back to normal. I have no idea what was wrong with the file in the first place. With all those weird displays perhaps I really don't want to know why the displays went crazy. Thanks for all your suggestions. You guys are great.Frank
November 16, 201015 yr Hi Don't worry I think it happened to a quantas A380 too last week when leaving Singapore to Sidney. From what I read, RR has found a fix. My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
