A little Heads-Up on the NGX...

Recommended Posts

After reading several pages of this thread, I've decided to finally make a post. To the devs, I can only speak for myself when I say take your time with the NGX. I know nobody wants to get this bird into our hands more than you guys and I'm sure like all of us, the team is disappointed that hasn't happened yet...heck probably more so than those waiting to get it in our virtual hangar. To everyone who may read this, developing anything isn't an easy task, let alone the depth of what PMDG does for FS. I know everyone is very eager to get this plane, but the fact is things happen the slow the process and cause delays. There is not one software company around that sets a date for a release several months in advance and sticks to it...if they did, we'd be buying garbage software that is unfinished and unpolished. The good guys over at PMDG are NOT keeping screen shots/videos for themselves to look at and not share with us. Like Ryan said, when an item is finished, they will post it in an update. Since we haven't seen any exterior shots, it would be a good guess that the exterior isn't done. What would be the point of looking at a screenshot of an unfinished exterior? It's obvious that the plane is taking longer than they had hoped, but it's unrealistic of any of us to hold the team to any "hoped for" release time frames they have discussed until they set a very firm date once the plane is ready to be rolled out and is completely finished. Now, back to the team. I would like to make a suggestion just to make life easier for those of you who visit the boards often. I think making a new pinned thread would help. It would seem that a lot of people who are posting new threads aren't taking the time to read this thread where much information can be found. After all, it is 66 pages long and there are new screens and information posted on many pages that people aren't finding when they visit the boards. So, to eliminiate more mess that you guys have to clean up, make a simple thread (no prictures) with some of the things discussed throughout this thread. Some people are dense and can't understand that since the plane isn't available for purchase that there is a delay. For some reason, some people need to actually read it coming from PMDG. A simple thread that would say something like "We are moving as fast as we can to get this plane out to you and are pushing to get it into the beta stage. We honestly don't know when it will be released because we still have some items to work on before it gets to beta. As for images, as of right now, we don't have anything new to show as the exterior isn't finished. Everything we have already posted is as much as we can show at the moment. As we finish parts of the plane, we will post a new update with screens or video". I know it shouldn't be needed, but perhaps it will make life easier for you.Regards,Chad

Is there already a 2D Panel Pic somewhere? Probably I missed it....Holger
No 2D panel shots yet I'm afraid will be one of the last things to be done if memory serves, but they will look the same as the VC but flat :)

Simply, not everyone have thousand of $$$ to spend into powerful computers. And for flying into VC you need TrackIR and a good FPS value. (both request good money Big%20Grin.gif)Cheers,

those constantly b####ing about how PMDG promised the NGX in 2010 and didnt come through with it and how its taking OH SO LONG, would be the first ones on the forum complaining about how PMDG released a buggy/incomplete product, if they released it before it was ready just to satisfy you. You're getting pretty annoying. I have been following the development of the NGX for some time now, I want to see this thing just as bad as anyone else, but coming onto the forums and complaining how its taking longer than said/expected will only make it worse for you. It's like watching a clock move, time goes by slow, when not constantly looking at it, it seems to go by faster. Go read the manuals, or search up on this beautiful bird and learn something new about the systems, etc.. I hate to see people bashing an amazing team of developers, because they said 2010, or arent posting screenies... obviously they must have run into some problems with the NGX, that they feel needs to be fixed, and working properly, so that you can enjoy it, and feel like you're inside of a real 737NG. Just my 2 cents.. Sorry for my bad English =]Sonny Delgado,

Because its more practical. Usability has always been more important to me than visuals

After 66 pages, here's what it boils down to.Ready?People will analyze, dissect, pull apart, and scrutinize every post by PMDG to selectively find the parts they need to give their role in the "disappointed bandwagon" more credibility.Never mind the parts of those posts that actually said "it's not ready as soon as we'd like."And when everyone's done posting complaints, whines, personal attacks, and "I quit" posts, as soon as the 737NGX is for sale they'll all be buying it. (but they won't post that they did!)PMDG is not a Fortune500 company. It's not on Wallstreet with antsy shareholders' eyes glued to a stock ticker. It's just a few guys who make software on the side. That's it. No employee benefits, no marketing department. All the complainers act like not owning the 737NGX at this very moment is degrading their quality of life.GET OVER IT. It's software!Go learn a new language or help build a mission in a 3rd world country while you wait. You are capable of waiting patiently, right? And by now all the posters this post addresses can't wait to get to the bottom to hit the reply button and flame away.Is this post dripping with sarcasm? You bet, because this whole THREAD is ridiculous. To PMDG, for god sake's lock this thread and stop feeding the temper tantrum daycare with more ammunition, because clearly these people have nothing better to do away from their computer.- Div Magne

hi, i just had a laugh when i read the new delivery schedule for the 787 over at boeing - these guys seem to have the same problems with people asking for a release date and constantly argue about earlier relesase announcements - therefore they posted an "explanation" about forward-looking statements (actually it is longer than the original statement). I think you guys should do something similiar (or just copy and paste) :( Quote:"Forward-Looking StatementsCertain statements in this report may be "forward-looking" within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. Words such as "expects," "intends," "plans," "projects," "believes," "estimates," "targets," "anticipates," and similar expressions are used to identify these forward-looking statements. Forward-looking statements are based upon assumptions about future events that may not prove to be accurate. These statements are not guarantees of future performance and involve risks, uncertainties and assumptions that are difficult to predict. Actual outcomes and results may differ materially from what is expressed or forecasted in these forward-looking statements. As a result, these statements speak to events only as of the date they are made and we undertake no obligation to publicly update or revise any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise, except as required by federal securities laws. Specific factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from forward-looking statements include, but are not limited to, statements we make regarding our guidance relating to future financial and operating performance, the effect of economic conditions in the United States and globally, and general industry conditions as they may impact us or our customers, as well as the other important factors disclosed previously and from time to time in our other filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission."(http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=1584)Looking forward to the 737X, but take your time! I'm certain the 737X will turn out just as awesome as the 787!christopher Volle

My computer didn't cost thousands of dollars (a little over $1000 or so for the core stuff, and you could make do in the VC with far less than what I have) and I don't own a Track IR... I fly in the VC pretty much exclusively now.

thats bull, I prefer using a saitek flight yoke, to look around the VC, [hat switch], And you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a computer.. Surely if you were into flight simulation or gaming, you would have a up to date machine?? we have been told that the ngx has a really good fps compared to md11 etc.

Many of us build a cockpit with separate monitors for Pilot, FO., engine displays and FMC along with projectors for outside views. Two D can only be used in this set up as requires undockable and resizable panels. A lot of builders have cockpits that look some what like a real flight sim...Just trying to explain why some like 2D panels and is in no way a knock on VC as both have their use.percy clapp

Yet, both yourself and Robert whom i have the utmost respect for have at times sacrificed your professionalism in a way that many people would lose their job over, yet by virtue of the fact that you are a faceless company, on two occasions you both have manipulated and abused that facelessness and breeched the respect that 95% of the those who patiently wait for your products and invest/pay/support the venture you are so passionate about.
Following the litany of childish posts on this forum I can't help but to sound off as well. I'm not big on the rip & compliment method, and IMO there are a couple fundamentals that are forgotten by many posters here.First, if PMDG is to be compared to another business let's be clear; nowhere would a professional be expected to accept the sort of behavior exhibited in these forums from a customer or colleague. As a business they have the right to operate as they see fit (that bit about right to refuse service). I am a design professional and can assure you that had a visitor entered our firm and addressed ANY of us in the same manner they would have been not-very-politely escorted from the premises, likely in a less impartial manner than PMDG has maintained with the children/over-age adolescents stamping their feet. Provision of a service or product does not bring with it a responsibility to tolerate inappropriate or unprofessional treatment. Second, freedom of speech does not apply to these forums. You are, in effect, in their office/lobby/conference room, and they have the right to police their environment in ANY way the please. Compared to most other sim forums out there this one is orders of magnitude more tolerant of host-bashing than most. Short of personal attacks users are permitted to say just about anything, so calling out the devs for responding in a candid manner after hundreds of criticisms having little to do with the product carries little weight. PMDG owes us nothing. The fact that we know they are developing a product STILL means they owe us nothing. "But they said coming soon"; yes they did, and the point is exactly what? There is no contract implied in that web page, period. It's been said ad-nauseam; if people dislike their development cycle, or their methods of dealing with unruly children then they should vote with their wallets. IMO every product so far has more than justified the length of its development. Dan D.

I wrote it wrong, you are both right. i mean that i have no money for upgrading my computer now. I don't use PC for heavy programs but FS. So i never needed a so up to date computer to speed it at muximum speeds.I know that "$$$ dollars" is wrong, but here in Italy you have to think that we have higher costs and also a lot of speculation on computers. The price of components here is 20% higher than in US or other part of the world (except Europe, where the prices are little higher everywhere). In fact, we are also one of the more degraded country in electronic and technologic aspect of life. All those factors affect my FS-experience. I spoke about TrackIR because i used before the Hat-switch on my CH Yoke, but i find it a bit "innatural". Add this to the bad performances i achieve and you sum up like me that it's better to use 2D.The VCs are something amazing, i know that. If one day i will manage to buy a good computer i will never fly again in 2D. PMDG, as like as VRS, reached higher and higher levels of datails. My previous post was written badly. It reflect a personal reason about why i don't fly VC yet. Big%20Grin.gif(Reading it again now show me that i wrote a personal feeling just like an universal post, sorry for that)Cheers,
