December 17, 201015 yr Ryan, make sure that you download the free Greystone 17FL airport.I just did a real flight today to Ocala and hoped on over to Greystone. It's as real a depiction as it gets. Below par? Where did you hear this?I have almost every FSDT airport and I can confirm:There's nothing "below par" when it comes to FSDT. All the airports are top notch.KLAS & KFLL are just spectacular accomplishments. MSFS
December 17, 201015 yr Below par? Where did you hear this?It was the word on the street when it was released. The opinion was pretty widespread. It was supposed to be a big FPS hog. I never gave it a second thought after that. I'm giving it a second thought now considering the sale. When I say worse than KDFW, I only say that because KFDW is their best work to date in my opinion based on visual vs. FPS and LOD'ing.Actually when you compare ORD to JFK I think it is a better performing product, but of course JFK is always more FPS intensive. I will say this as well about ORD, on my rig as a test since we all run various amouts of AI, if I run it at ZERO AI in the PMDG 747 I get FPS fluctuating between 27 and 36 FPS with normal weather. With 100% UT2 AI I still get 23 to 27 FPS in the PMDG 747. Install the demo and try for yourself before you buy it. Set up a flight from outside 10 miles and fly to it so you can get an idea of how the PFS are in your favorite aircraft. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I run without AI traffic but I get about 20 fps with default, and on the lowest end, 10 fps with F1 C510 Mustang VC.Ryan, make sure that you download the free Greystone 17FL airport. How do I get that airport? I can't see it on their product page?Ryan, mine don't shimmer. Try finding the tree.dds in the texture folder and adding mips to it with DXTBmp or DDS Converter 2. I think I ran the majority of my textures thru DDS Converter 2 at DXT3 compression. If I remember right they were DXT5 with most textures having mips, but I think that using the setting "0" (zero) in DDS Converter 2 added extra maps to some of the textures. As far as the difference between DXT5 and DXT3 I am frankly not sure if it makes much difference, but I have converted all my FSDT airports to DXT3 except for the ones that are already DXT1, which is most of the terminal buildings, however on my rig the DXT3's seem to load faster than DXT5's when switching views. Maybe just a placebo, but that's how it seems since I have tried using both DXT5 and DXT3.You can always make a backup of the originals and try it, if it doesn't work or make a difference, just drop the originals back in.RegardsThanks... I'll give that a try. I have ORD and I like it a lot. I spent 20 minutes looking through 4 year old posts, sure that I remembered negative feedback about Orlando only to eventually realize that I mixed up the airport codes. How is Cloud9 Orlando - KMCO. I used to make the same mistake of thinking that KORD was for Orlando as well.Anyway, as far as your concern about KMCO is gets excellent FPS as well. Really the only draw back to KMCO is that it doens't have custom ground texures, but aside from that is looks great IMHO. Plus it has the moving tram if your into things like that. Now as far as how accurate it is to days standards as far a terminals, I can't answer than since I dont live or fly into KMCO that often in real lifeThat being said, if you can live without the custom ground I would go for it. Besides the only alternative is BluePrints version or default, of which bother offer default ground textures, however the Cloud9/FSDT version still looks way better then either of those choices if you ask me.You can also download and install it to try it in demo mode to get an idea for yourself. December 17, 201015 yr I was sitting down eating dinner and popped over to the FSDT site and before I knew it I had purchased DFW, JFK and ORD... must have been something in the chicken! Not too bad on the pocket-book, $62 (CDN) for all 3 with the discount coupon. Now if only they would do a Canadian airport, say like... Vancouver. One could only hope. \Robert Hamlich/

I used to make the same mistake of thinking that KORD was for Orlando as well.Another example of the historical basis of airport identifiers. KORD comes from Orchard Field that was the site of O'hare, and MCO is for McCoy Air Force Base that turned into Orlando International. December 17, 201015 yr Yeah I really never noticed all these cool FSX airports... I mainly fly GA but often I'm on vatsim and the only staffed facilities are the big B's. December 17, 201015 yr How is ORD based on typical FSDT standards. I remember it was one of the first FSX scenery projects and the feedback wasn't good at the time.I always buy every FSDT product when it is released so ORD is the only thing I don't have for FSX. I would like to take advantage of the sale unless the product is below par.As near as I can tell (and I have all the FSDT airports in both FS9 and FSX), they don't make any below par products. I highly recommend all of them.DJ
