Kand, honestly, I would be very pleased if you could offer us some special P3D development aspects which currently can't be fulfilled with the pure and rather old FSX SDK. I really appreciate some developement efforts and especially freeware ones, but frankly, I don't think that the P3D enhancements come close to our or your scenery development needs. They are fixed on another customer basis which can be seen on e. g. that strange underwater feature from P3D, useless for us, maybe useful for some commercial cases.I'm not saying that you are breaking any rules or EULA at all as I don't know what's installed and how it's used on your system. I just wanted to counteract a maybe upcoming "hey, that's a clever deal, just 10 bucks and you get a largely enhanced FSX" attitude and I hope I did without offending in any way.Everyone who's into the flight sim scene of some kind knows that wishes and expectations are high and that "new" products even let them rise higher. If one expects huge gains or even smaller ones from this product, he will very likely get disappointed and those "smoother now" statements are just the beginning there in my eyes.As the private sector wasn't the target here, the improvements for us aren't present and maybe will never be, even with some development there. At the same time, legal dependencies and the not so cheap price come as downsides. Worth a try? If you think so.
No offence taken at all, really, anyway I am not going to comment anymore on this thread i have said my piece and its probably best if its locked as there has been nothing productive come out of it, I imagine I will come back to 100 posts calling for my head on a stick and banned from Avsim! for those that dont get that, it was an attempt at humour, TTFN recomposed for clarity

I'm sorry, but why should "they" call for your head now and what exactly was humor in this thread? Seems like you've confused me. :( We just spoke about this commercial product and, on a side topic, about the legal dependencies there. I can't see bad things being written here so far.

Correct :( :( :( I am strange !

Interesting to watch the pile on here...Seems like Lockheed Martin are happy for kand's business, no matter what level he chooses to engage the software:http://www.prepar3d.com/partners-overview/developer-network-program/Some quips: "...No matter if you are a seasoned developer, or just starting out, we want to encourage you to develop for Prepar3D."OR"...The program is also open to any individual or business who is interested in using Prepar3D to develop applications and add-ons."With FSX, upon which ESP/Prepar3D is based, we also had to "pay" to be developers by purchasing the "Deluxe" version. I also can't imagine how personal entertainment is proscribed by the terms. I'm sure kand can't sell what he makes outside of the Prepar3D add-on store, but he can tinker to his heart's content (or just fly) and Lockheed Martin are happy to take his money. If kand is happy, and Lockheed Martin is happy, who can say that it is wrong? As for improvements, well, I think Lockheed Martin have source code with their deal? I'm not sure. If so, they can certainly retool if they see that it'll bear fruit. As someone else pointed out, Prepar3D looks to be supported, FSX is a deadend (ACES gone, who knows what Flight will really be).Have fun (in the privacy of your own home at that) with your toy kand.

I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.

Jeff,Please ask him what he will be developing for LM/P3D.

HelloJust out of curiosity , Why do Developers get bent out of shape by simmers using Prepar3D ?This is not the first time that a user has been jumped on for suggesting he may run Prepare3D at home and worse still do it for fun.I think I may buy a copy just to have a currently supported sim with ongoing improvements.

Jeff,Please ask him what he will be developing for LM/P3D.
Hi.I suppose this may be slightly off track here but I'd like to point out that I used Flight Unlimited for over a year before I started modifying scenery & creating new airports. What did I develop in those first months? Nothing at all. However, if I hadn't bought it as something to play around with, I'd never have started down the scenery-creation road. Maybe Kand has no definite scheule, nor even a clear plan yet, but if the intention is there...Regards,D
Am I missing something? There is a Prepar3d EULA here http://www.prepar3d....agreement-eula/I've read it several times but can't find the word entertainment anywhere in it.
HelloI have also read the EULA and cannot find the part where you are expressly prohibited from having fun with the product.Help me out with this MGH as you seem to be the Legal Eagle around here. Here is the EULA please can anyone point out where it says that I cannot load it onto my computer, fly around a bit and generally enjoy my purchase.Another part I am finding it difficult to locate in the document is the part where it lists the relevant qualifications needed to be a Prepar3D developer.Lockheed martin seem happy enough to sell me a copy and the employees in their forum do not seem too uptight about folk buying the product and enjoying it.So I guess that is good enough for me.End User License Agreement (EULA)PLEASE READ THIS LICENSE CAREFULLY BEFORE DOWNLOADING THE SOFTWARE. Well if everyone followed EULAs to the letter, half the FS add-ons we currently have wouldn't even exist and all of the tweaks would be forbidden too. The following is from the FSX Deluxe Edition EULA for example:You may not work around any technical limitations in the software;Really? well by my reckoning that's Pete Dowson, Ernie Alston, Enrico Schiratti, *******, A2A and PMDG screwed for a kick off, because I'm fairly sure they're all working around the technical limitations of FSX.More seriously though, LM are on record as having said flight simmers are welcome to get involved with P3D, LM were even featured in an extensive interview in PC Pilot magazine just recently.Al

HelloWell said AlI have no idea why folks are getting so precious about what we can or cannot do with Prepar3D.Just popped over to LM and signed up for a developer licence and it is downloading as I write this. All for the princely sum of £6.44 per month which is about the price of two pints of bitter in my overpriced local pub.I will now have to quickly develop an Afcad or Ai flightplan in order to stay onside with the forums legal eagles.

You beat me to the punch with that observation! Perhaps L-M should have added one more bullet point to their EULA:
* may use the Software on a single computer;* may make one copy of the Software for backup purposes only;* must retain the VENDOR’s copyright notice and any other proprietary legends located in the Software;* assume responsibility for the selection of the Software and for the installation, use, and results obtained when operating the Software.* must NOT have any fun whatever when operating the Software.
