January 7, 201115 yr I downloaded the Doc's from F1 and it looks pretty cool. Few questions though:How does it fly, good engine out procedures? How does it look, VC, night lighting etc etc.How does it sound? Finally, is it as good as or better then my Duke? I love the Duke and will still fly her but I wanna see what else is there and I'm done buying Carenado. Thanks Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom

I find the Milviz 310 as good as any product for FSX that I can personally calibrate, and better than most. My only complaint is the landing lights aren't as real looking on my setup as most other products. The flight model is pretty much spot-on as far as I can tell. The single engine performance is very realistic. The sounds are excellent. The VC is a little lacking in detail but I understand there is a trade off in performance if one gets too detailed in the VC. And I have modified it to use the older steam gauges. I can not get used to glass panels. The exterior model and the view out the window over the wing are very detailed and very realistic looking. The FPS/smoothness is good on my AMD 3.0 Gig machine. The instruments are good. The night lighting is good. There is a video on the Flight1 site you can watch to see the panel etc. But you can't hear the sound of the airplane. Too bad, the sound of this 310 is far better than the music IMO. If you buy through Flight1 I think you have 30 days to get your money back if you don't like it. I always try to buy though them when possible for that reason. Bottom line is I have recommended the Milviz 310 to my friends who are also retired pilots. They have all agreed it is an excellent real-world representation of that airplane within the constraints of FSX.Hope that helps,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. January 7, 201115 yr I bought it a month or so ago.Framerates are pretty heavy on my (brand new x64 i7) system with around 25-30fps in all views. Was a little disappointed with the VC - it's ok zoomed out but rather blurred when you try and read any text close up.Handling appears realistic although I've only flown a real 310 once with an instructor so cannot comment further.I don't think it compares to the RealAir Duke. I have that also and it beats all comers for clarity of VC and eye-candy. The only aircraft that comes close IMHO is the PMDG J41.The 310 sounds are really nice and it looks pretty good from the outside. Why not take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee and try it for yourself? January 7, 201115 yr Author You know what, I forgot F1 offered that money back thing. I think I'll go do that. It's crazy I still love the Duke and I was thinking about putting another 430 along side my 530, myabe I'll just do that. Thanks guys.Ron Hamilton Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
January 7, 201115 yr Moderator And I have modified it to use the older steam gauges. I can not get used to glass panels.Since the package comes with three completely different "gauge systems/models" I'm left wondering just what you mean by "...modified it to use the older steam gauges?"1. default model#1 (N5077J 3dAnalog) is 100% "steam gauges" and is a faithful recreation of Ken's real aircraft.2. alternate model#2 (CGTER FreeRadio) is 100% "steam gauges" but allows you to use any 3rd party radios, GPS, autopilot, etc.3. alternate model#3 (N5225J G1000) is the only "glass version" but also allows full-flexibility for 3rd party gauge replacements. As for the landing/taxi lights, I am working on a (future) update for the C310R package that will (1) fix the "foggy conditions" problem, and (2) allow the user to configure the model to use the default landing/taxi lights if they don't like the "3d lights." This update will of course be completely free for any current owner. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
January 8, 201115 yr Commercial Member As well, I am very surprised to hear about blurry textures anywhere on the plane. It does, after all, have literally twice the resolution and more maps than the other one... You should be able to be 6 inches away (relative) and not have too much blur.Pic please? January 8, 201115 yr Author Ya, I looked at screenshot and it does look like a damn good looking plane. My problem is I want to be able to use the RXP 530/430 + STEC Autopilot and the Transponder from RXP and have it all work and look good in the VC. They have inclueded a panel thats is "flat" which is what you need to do the edits, but now I have no idea how to edit panels and I dont' have time/money to learn how. If anyone has examples or screens of there RXP stuff in its VC can you show me? Perferably no default radios at all? Thanks Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom

January 8, 201115 yr If you own the RXP stuff, I am sure that they come with instructions detailing how to get them into other panels....It's a great plane. I bought and returned the Duke,(twice), not because it isn't great, just because it didn't 'hook' me. The 310 is right up there with the Duke, and the sounds are great and the sense of flight, especially in turbulence is excellent. I'm more of a jet flier, but every so often I crank up the 310 to really feel flight. The cool thing is that there are times when losing an engine puts you under EXTREME stress. Try it just after liftoff before gear up! You gotta land NOW!K

January 9, 201115 yr I really enjoy my 310. If I had to complain about something it would be that the VC looks kind of bland (subjective of course)(I have the same complaint about the Duke), but it is high resolution. The flight model is awesome as are the sounds and visual model. She sees regular use in my virtual world. It is easily the best work Milviz has put out for FSX so far. I look forward to more of their in-house releases. :( Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!

I used the FreeRadio version. Sorry if I offended. That was not my intent. Good to hear you are working on the landing lights.Best,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. There was no offense taken at all; just a bit of head-scratching... :( BTW, there already is an OAT gauge (3d) on the far lower right side of the panel.Although it wasn't originally part of the "plan," I suggested the "FreeRadio version" as yet another option, so it would allow folks to fully configure their own avionics however they wished.
