March 29, 201115 yr That's a monster pc from every angle, and overclocked like you have it it's even more monstrous, and you tell me you get 11 fps at some cases? I'll stick with FS9, thanx It's only because I set my AI traffic at 100% with Traffic X and some custom AI built in. If I set it at 50 it should run everywhere above 20... but I like the gates full! It's only in busy places like LAX, NYC, or Seattle where I'm seeing the problems, though. I'm also running 2 monitors off one card at 1900 x 1200 and that is a big hit, or so I hear.
April 1, 201115 yr Nono, FSX is a big hit and as we all know, will never be able to use current hardware to its potential.

I'll stick with FS9, thanx It's just the newest technology, Mak. If you don't have 4.xx gig, or have never seen FSX at 4 gig - coupled with a widescreen or TripleHead2Go - then you don't know what we're experiencing, and therefore your comment is unqualified. A tweaked FS9 doesn't compare with a stock FSX by any measure, whether whether we're talking ground textures, bump mapping, weather generation - or just plain programming technologies and techniques. The 2600K is just a better proc in the Intel series that have been continuously improving since the days of the 8086. It gives us more headroom, but - it should suprise no-one that we are still finding that FSX is still bound by that cpu speed, and that we can still pull it down.I was also at 4.48 gig with the i7-950 and 580 combo, Kos, Hyperion, and yup - there are still places that most definitely pull those frames downward: what I do is to use a different config for those areas. I don't use as much airport vehicles, road vehicle, GA aircraft, etc., - perhaps less clouds. If you're in a tube liner who cares whether you have pleasure boats. There's too much to do on take-off, and by the time you're clear of the airport you're already too high! I do like a full tarmac for startup (at Seattle), though - around 50 - 60 commercial jet, with about 15 or s Cargo at the north end. I'm now running at 4.7 gig /1.35 vCore, using 4 cores only (130.xxx GF!!!) with the 580 oc somewhat o/c'd at 860. Very fluid, most wound to the right. There's more to be had from it yet! Overclocking is almost like an addon - it's all part of the fun!! :LMAO: B) i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

Multiple cloud layers with lots of cumulus ( cme first form ASE , but saved into this test flight) - IFR settings like I want them : autogen/dense, sc compl/max, no AI cars nor boats / AI aircaft 35% - Altitude 12.000 ft- Speed : 280 KIAS !I start flying north next to the coast line an then trun right over Amsterdam , IJsselmeer , Lelystad towards the Geman border. This flight I do at daylight , but also at nightime. If both give enough fps than I am satisfied. And yes, this is sceenshot with a 777, but with same testlayout 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
May 16, 201115 yr Hello!I've been following this thread for a little bit, and I have an inquiry to make:With all of the benchmarks that have been posted, and all of the controversy about how the new system REALLY works with FSX, wouldn't a video posted by someone with the SB setup be adequate proof of how the system works? That way, folks can see how FSX works under ACTUAL simulator conditions.I don't know squat about OC'ing, RAM speed and such, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.Cheers!Alan Only way to really make a real video is with a really good video camera. Recording FSX on the computer is useless since it uses lots of CPU.

May 22, 201115 yr Only way to really make a real video is with a really good video camera. Recording FSX on the computer is useless since it uses lots of CPU.Just playing with ya, here. <------- this video was captured with FRAPS (full screen) with FSX running at 1680x1050 and the FSX settings pretty much maxed out. But wait! There's more! I then played back the FRAPS .avi file with Windows 7 Media Player and recaptured it again with the mini DV camera (4:3 aspect ratio). Can you rell the difference? :Smug: ROG Maximus X Apex Z370 -- 8086 @ 5.3 / NB 5.0 -- GSkill @ 4133 c17-17-32~Cr1 1.42v -- EVGA 1080Ti 6393 -- ROG PG279Q 1440P 150hz -- Corsair H100i V2 --Samsung EVO 850(s) -- Windows7 Pro 64 --Corsair 750X Ken C

June 22, 201114 yr I just changed my system from an E6700/4GB RAM Corsair 1066/8800GTS 640/ which scored 919 on the PassMark thingie for a:i5-2500/4GB Corsair Dominator 1600/GTX560 Ti 1 GB/ASUS P8P67LE MB anbd got a PassMark of (about) 1350.Granted, I haven't fiddled with the RAM timing, which it seems I am supposed to do as the factory preset is too conservative, but shouldn't this setup have scored higher?I haven't loaded up FSX yet, will do tonight, but I'm getting a great improvement in Rise of Flight. 3X the FPS and with higher settings. Sweet!I still thought this rig would score higher, though. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
June 23, 201114 yr If you want to see how a SB 2600K at 4,2 Ghz really acts together with heavy add-ons and GTX 580, watch my uploaded in 4 parts movie on YouTube about the 767 flight from EDDS to LOWI.http://www.youtube.com/user/simbanlIf you want to see it in real 1920x1080 you can also download the complete HD movie (8Gb) from the channel, and VC cockpit in the movie is identical to what you can see on your own rig with 1920x1080 Widescreen.Channel: alt.binaries.bonelessSearch for KLM763 Boeing 767-300ER EDDS to LOWI and don't forget to take also the extra repair file.80% is captured with FRAPS at 29.97 fps and my average FSX fps was between 28-35 fps at 16x AA and 16x AFIn my situation, I get a drop of 5-7 fps when FRAPS is capturing to the Veliraptor 300GbTo get very smooth acting cars, trains and other vehicles, I rendered that apart with FSRecorder Beta capturing in WMFThe spotplane and cockpit shots are all real time rendered to HD MPG with FRAPSLevel-D 767, FS2Crew Voice edition, Aerosoft Austria/Innsbruck Approach/AES 2.11UTX-REX2Xreme-GEX-Mytraffic 2 at 50% etc. etc.All sliders to the rightWater 2x HighNo BloomNo Ground shadowsI think, Movies talks and ** walks... if you want to see really how FSX acts these days with the latest hardware, Judge by your self...Enjoy the flight and SB examination to the beautiful city of Innsbruck and the most challenging approach and landing in Europe.
