February 10, 201115 yr THIS IS NOT ONLY AN EXTREMELY UNUSUAL POST, BUT ALSO A PLEADING REQUEST...( I sought and obtained AVSIM permission before posing)My wife and I are great animal lovers and spend all our spare time rescuing and fostering animals. During the course of our work, we received a web link that has changed my life! Please read this post through before clicking on the link below this post. I'll keep this very brief and to the point... The link shows some of the most disturbing video feed I have ever seen in my life and, believe me, having seen covert active service several times, I've seen many things one should not. There is a also a petition there to sign, which is why I want to spread this far and wide.If you feel you can, please view the video (to the end) and sign the petition, then pass it on. I would however, STRONGLY advise against viewing whilst young or vulnerable people are present. If you feel you cannot, I understand FULLY!What is incredibly surprising, is that the participation percentages of the UK & USA are VERY low indeed. I beg of you to help me change that.http://www.ptroa.co.il/petition/ Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
February 11, 201115 yr Author Such humanitarianism.... I posted a link to this over at Flightsim.com and it lasted all of 8 mins before they deleted it. February 11, 201115 yr Such humanitarianism.... I posted a link to this over at Flightsim.com and it lasted all of 8 mins before they deleted it.That's probably the most vile thing I've ever seen. You were wise to caution people before watching that. Sickening doesn't begin to describe it. As for our friends at flightsim.com, don't get too upset about it. They're good folk over there, probably just don't want to open the door for the countless causes out there. I can respect that for a dedicated hobby forum. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher

I can respect that for a dedicated hobby forum. It's now been removed from every forum board where i posted except here at Avsim, for which I thank, admire and respect Tom and all the staff, from the bottom of my heart :( :( B) Not surprisingly I guess, I've woken up today to a VAST amount of criticism, flak and outright abuse for apparently having had the nerve to upset some peoples comfortable little worlds. Some of the emails I've received, two of which I believe being from from Avsim members, are incredibly explicit and abusive. According to one rather well known FS forum Administrator/owner, I’m a “childish beligerent sycophant” (his spelling, not mine), though perhaps he should check some word meanings ‘cos I’m stumped on that choice?Folks, I AM truly sorry if the video upsets people. I’ve seen stuff, in my line of work that would and has, ‘upset’ the hardest of minds and men, but this got to me far more. However, I make no apologies for the former whatsoever. If anyone here is still willing to speak with me :( I’d be very grateful for ANY advice on how to reach a wider, preferably adult audience with this. My internet skills are not great, and as strong as I feel about this, I don’t actually want to inflict it without mercy.Thank you for reading. February 11, 201115 yr Why would anyone not sign that petition after watching the video? It literally takes less than 10 seconds, and could potentially stop the horrendous cruelty portrayed in the video. Andrew McCluskey
February 11, 201115 yr Commercial Member I won't even touch the link. Sorry. If you want me to help a petition, forcing me to watch something very disturbing isn't a good start. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
February 11, 201115 yr How old is the video? And how old are the images in the video? Years ago when I was a moderator on a forum I came across a link, I had to watch it to see if I had to take any action, I'm wondering if this is the same thing. It wasn't pretty from what I can remember. Mike...

Years ago when I was a moderator on a forum I came across a link, I had to watch it to see if I had to take any action, I'm wondering if this is the same thing. It wasn't pretty from what I can remember. My advice is don't watch the video. I have a young dog which I love, and although I am very strong and tough in a lot of things, I cannot get the images in the video out of my mind. Absolutely horrific. It is beyond words. Don't watch!Kind regards,

Years ago when I was a moderator on a forum I came across a link, I had to watch it to see if I had to take any action, I'm wondering if this is the same thing. It wasn't pretty from what I can remember.I am informed the video is approximately 14 months old. However, sadly, the situation is not only unimproved... it is yet more widespread in china. This is, I gather, mostly due to the large sums of money that wealthy people are now willing to pay for both the furs, the meat and various 'bits' for chinese remedies. In the time it has taken for me to type this, many animals (not just dogs & cats) have been 'dealt with' in just the way the video depicts. China is a VAST country. As an aside...Shortly before I became aware of this, I'd just finished building an Access database for all my FS addons. After I finished creating the formula field to total up my FS expenditure, I nearly had a coronary.Since just 2004, when I started simming, I've spent almost £3,400 (GBP) on software alone! That's nearly $5,500 (USD)!!How lucky am I? So yes, I did click on the 'donate' button. And yes, if I'm 100% honest, I can't pretend I don't say this for ulterior motives......Those who watched - can you blame me - really? For a dog lover it is unbearable and I am no bleeding heart.
February 11, 201115 yr Author It made me almost ashamed to be a human. Mee too, that's why I just can't ignore this. Guess I have a new 'calling'.I will take those images to my grave and, to be brutally honest, I wish I could also take those 'so called' humans who inflict such things there with me. February 11, 201115 yr Commercial Member Sorry, but nobody is "forcing" you to do ANYTHING. Find a better way.Sorry Ed, should have made it clearer then i guess... one does not have to view the imagages or the video to sign the petition. The link does NOT take you directly to the video - just the main page. February 11, 201115 yr Moderator Sorry Ed, should have made it clearer then i guess... one does not have to view the imagages or the video to sign the petition. The link does NOT take you directly to the video - just the main page. Thank you for the clarification, Phil. I for one have no interest or need to view the horrific video as a means to prod my conscience. For whatever good it might do, I did digitally sign the Petition.I do have to ask however, how is this any different than how the poultry industry world-wide treats chickens, ducks and turkeys, aside that the poultry are killed prior to further processing? I also would note in passing that lobsters are "boiled alive" as well.We are dealing here with a completely different cultural view, and need to keep that in mind. We in the western nations have anthropomorphized canines and felines far more than any other animal on the planet, with the result that our views and beliefs are at diametric odds with those of the far east, or in many cases still, the mid-east. From our point of view, canines and felines are frequently as close to us as are our own young! I would no more countenance the mistreatment of any dog or cat than I would my own son or daughter.None of which makes any of this less horrific from my own viewpoint, but it does allow me to recognize and concede that these practices are not the product of simple sadism, but a different cultural bias.
