[FSX] Beaark it's all blurry

Featured Replies

Hi all,A problem has recently appeared on my FSX that had been functionning flawlessly for almost a year now. Despite days and days (litteraly) of testing and tweaking, I haven't been able to identify neither the origin nor a cure. I therefore come begging for help.Recently (either since trying new nvidia drivers, or installing a France VFR scenery or installing an airport, or installing Windows 7 SP1 or any other event I can't identify with certainty) all the ground textures started to be blurry and autogen to be very late (building sometimes appear behind the plane, after it has passed). But this happens only when setting fps to unlimited ! I have been running unlimited - using an external fps limiter - without any issue (either blurries or stutters) for almost a year and I can't imagin why it suddenly changed. If I change to limited (for example 30 fps) INSIDE FSX, blurries disappear, but stutters are back. A few comparisons between unlimited and limited : 20113418235768.jpg201134182436302.jpg201134184412122.jpg201134184445232.jpg201134184845911.jpg201134184916462.jpgI evidently tried every tweak I know (TextureMaxLoad, TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD, BANDWIDTH_MULTIPLIER, max async batching jobs, jobscheduler-affinitymask, and others) and ******* Altuve's automated tweaker, but nothing solved either the unlimited blurries or the limited stutters. I rebuilt the fsx.cfg about forty times now.So why not stick with limited if the blurs disappear ? Well... because of the stutters :) I had managed to remove both (unlimited with external fps limiter) and I'd like to get it back.So why the hell would this happen so suddenly whan I had had no issue with unlimited for such a long time ?3 short infos on my system : i7 920@4,1GHz - 6Go RAM - GTX285One gazillion thanks in advance for any idea/tip/suggestion.

up. Really nobody at all having seen anything even remotely similar ? Or having the slightest idea as to why it could be crisp in limited and blurry in unlimited ?

I think it is well documented that setting a limited (locked) fps setting, makes FSX load all the textures -which tends to eliminate blurries. Whereas unlimited, with the limiter, coupled with Bufferpools etccan give you a very smooth simulation without forcing FSX to necessarily load all the textures, which can result in the effect in your pictures. The question that remains is, why was it working OK before and not now..Start by letting FSX build a new fsx.cfg file and fly without tweaks...then, gradually build up from there.

Yep, I have same problems as you.Have you tried the external frame rate limiter v.02?Search the forum for more info. It helped me a lot!Nm, I read you already use the limiter program.

Thanks for all the answers !Problem is : I have already rebuilt about forty times my fsx.cfg and to no avail : now not only the unlimited is blurry, but it stutters as well :/ And whatever the settings and/or tweaks I try, it remains the same.I tried uninstalling the last three sceneries I installed. No change.I tried switching back to the old 196.34 beta nvidia drivers that had been excellent for my GTX285. No luck here either. I am now running 257.15 which were supposed to be best for ground textures but still get blurries AND stutters in unlimited mode.

I'll add that THE SAME EXACT thing just happened to my system. Everything has been great, all of a sudden, I'm getting slow texture loads/blurries. All I installed recently is the Turbine Duke. I'm baffled and a bit bummed. I'm thinking a defrag mught be in order, which I haven't done on this system, and I hate doing. (bad history of defragging/lost HD's)Same system with UNclocked 920. GTX 285/6 gig RAM.

Me too, I thought it was drivers but no.

Me too, I thought it was drivers but no.
Same thing... out of the blue, for no reason, I'm getting blurries (2600k @ 4.5 GHz, 2x4GB @ 1600 MHz, GTX570 @ 850/2000 MHz).

Interestingly though, if I removed my external frame limiter, and limited the FPS inside FSX, all blurries GONE. So for now, I'll give up on my external limiter.

I experienced exactly the same situation and I have an i7-920 with 6 Gb of Ram and a GXT 285, too.Not only as soon as I decrease the frame rate from unlimited to a limited number I get stutters, but, first of all, my fps drastically reduce, from 25-30 to 12-15, so this is not acceptable! If fps are unlimited I get blurries and autogen not loading, never, even after waiting 1 hour! In some addon airport sceneries I even have the addon airport runways not loading!Anyone has found a solution to this problem?Thank you!James

Same problem here and a lot of tests and studies.I used happily external fps limiter for an year, and had no blurries problems with any scnery. After Installing FRANCEVFR Riviera and Alps I started have the problem. It's not a simple blurries problem, it seems FSX doesn't load anymore textures after initial scenery loading. So as long as you go far from departing airport you see texture more and more blurried. In normal blurries cases, pressing P for pause FSX will allow it load (fast or slowly) the texture, but in this case FSX simply don't load textures anymore, no matter how long you leave it paused.I opened a case to FranceVFR support but the only solution we found was use the internal frame limiter (with loss of performaces and stutters, grrr).I tried change any single parameter in fsx.cfg, tried lower fps lock, tried eliminate antialias and AF from both fsx and videocard (ATI 5870) but no luck.I think we had a different problem than known blurries issues, and it seems nobody found (up to now) a solution for this.

Yes I've seen a similar thing too, how about we all list the add-ons we have installed in the last couple of months, if you can remember. Most recent at top;FS2Crew for the iFlyiFly 737PMDG NGXREX 2 (this one I think could be a big culprit especially if its F'ed up textures or light maps)FSDT Zurich updateFSDT Hawaii Airports Vol2Reality XP GNS 530 unlimitedMega Scenery HawaiiFSDT HonoluluFSDT Hawaii Airports Vol1Playsims/Horizon VFR Ireland Photo Scenery. If you cant remember what you installed lately open "add remove programs" in your OS and sort the list of installed programs by installed date.

Cheers, Andy.

You need to apply nvidia inspector tweaks again after installing a new gfx driver.
