April 20, 201115 yr Hello all,I just used Bojote's Tweaking and tuning tool and it recommends that i use an external FPS limtier. I have downloaded it but i don't have any idea how to get it to work. Can anyone help?
April 20, 201115 yr Run the .jar file (you need java installed), and it will open a small window - you then select your FSX.exe file, and press ok. It will create a .bat file and this is your new FSX shortcut. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

April 20, 201115 yr Hello all,I just used Bojote's Tweaking and tuning tool and it recommends that i use an external FPS limtier. I have downloaded it but i don't have any idea how to get it to work. Can anyone help? Here is the process I have used succesfully (copied from another post - many thanks to whoever the original poster was)Step 1 - Download the link below:http://rapidshare.com/files/160642187/FPS_Limiter_0.2.rarStep 2 - Extract the file anywhere you like, but make sure that the place where you put it, will be its PERMENANT location (this is to eliminate directory path problems in the future).Step 3 - Run the file in the folder that you just extracted, called "FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar", DO NOT run the "FPS_Limiter.exe" file, it will not work.Step 4 - When you have the program running in front of you, you will need to browse to the root location of the executable file of the game of your choosing. (NOTE: Games that already have an automatic 30fps cap cannot be increased any higher, so it is pointless to select these games)Step 5 - Once you have the game's DIRECT executable chosen, select from one of the 3 in the dropdown list at the menu at the top of the screen.D3D8 - DirectX 8 gamesD3D9 - DirectX 9 gamesOGL - OpenGL games (very few games run with the OpenGL language)Step 6 - Once you have selected either D3D8/D3D9/OGL, then select which framerate you want the game to lock at at the "maximum fps" box. For best results, if your lowest framerate is under 30, select a number that is 5-10 fps above for that specific game. If your framerate is above 30, select any number between 30 to 50. Experiment with it a little, you can always change your framerate lock.Step 7 - Once you've selected your Maximum FPS, click on "create bat" to make a .bat file in the FPS Limiter folder.Step 8 - When you're ready to play, double click on that .bat file. If you wish to make a shortcut, right click on the .bat file and select "Create Shortcut". You can change the name of the shortcut ONLY, do not change the name of the .bat file.NOTE: To change your Maximum FPS setting without repeating the whole process, right click on the .bat file created, and go to edit. Now find the line that says "/f:X" replace the "X" variable with whatever you like.NOTE: Be sure to set your Frame rates withi9n FS to "unlimited".I made and use bat (batch) files for both FSX and FS2004 using the jar GUI interface. Worked like a charm for me.Hope that helps.

April 20, 201115 yr I have the enb series installed how do i uninstall it?Just rename the d3d9.dll to d3d9.dllx - that will do it.
April 20, 201115 yr 1st of all AMAZING instructions!!!!!Question, I run the FSX with DX10 Preview, would the Limiter work on my FSX?Nope, DX9 only. Bert
April 21, 201115 yr it's important to mention that the external frame limiter will NOT work with the enbseries addon...I use them both with no issue at all. I think you are talking about the other limiter called AntiLag. That one DOES have issues with the enb but now there is even a work around for it to still be able to use enb.Jim Jim Wenham
April 22, 201115 yr ""it's important to mention that the external frame limiter will NOT work with the enbseries addon... ""Works fine on my end and I have had no issues while using it. The main reason I use the "Java based" version is because by doing so you get to keep using the ENB series mod. However, the FPS limiter version by Kegetys DOES use d3d9.dll as it's base and WOULD conflict with the ENB Series as it uses a similar 'hacked' d3d9.dll file. Andrew
April 22, 201115 yr For those wanting/wishing/trying to use the alternative FPS Limiter by "kegetys" AND the ENB mod.......see the first 2 posts of this thread for the instructions on how to get the new/alternative limiter working with the ENB mod:http://www.kegetys.n...hp?topic=2097.0(For those that don't have it....the "alternative" limiter DLL can be downloaded from this link: http://www.kegetys.n..._antilag101.zip as per Bojote's thread here: tp://forum.avsim.net/topic/322993-alternative-external-fps-limiter/ )I can confirm that it does work perfectly well having followed the instructions on the Kegetys thread, so you get the advantages of the ENB mod (moodier lighting effects etc) AND the more effective limiter from Kegetys (without having to jump through hoops with JAVA, and .bat files) using both DLL's!!From my very limited understanding of these matters....Kegetys's DLL is an "add-on/attachment" to the original d3d9.dll and as instructed, with a modification of the .ini file for the ENB d3d9.dll, both can successfully be used together. Some more testing is needed to ensure it is fully stable, and as always YMMV, but i have had it running for the last 8-10 hours of my simming and had NO issues whatsoever with it - it appear i AM having my cake and eating it !!!RegardsSteve
