Garmin produces a customized G1000 for each aircraft.. as such, this G1000has engine management displays and included autopilot, per the real aircraft..
From 2 turbines to a turbocharged engine, one word: WOW.Does it have VNAV, Weather radar sync with REX or ASE, Proximities alerts or European EGNOS ?377 A2A or 737 NGX expect me...

Quote from the Urban Dictionary: "Cullable - Believing in anything". Probably a word that (for now anyway) is not acceptable in proper English lexicon.Regards, Mike Mann
Yeah, never said people don't actually use cullable, just pointing out that gullible is the word they probably should be using. Oxford English Dictionary, first published 1928, Urban Dictionary, first appeared in 1999, so I think we know which one is the more credible source, if not necessarily trendiest. As you say, I guess it'll end up being acceptable, like all the other naff George W Bushisms we have to endure.Al

Oh man....if you like the aircraft in question and dont mind the price then buy it. If you don't.....well....don't!!To get a Flight 1 backed quality model, FDE, and G1000 for $50 was more than worth it to me. Besides, if I wasn't that impressed with it I can ask for a refund within 30 days. What is there to lose?I only have time in C152's and C172's but the way this thing responds to control input, trim and set up for approach, flap extension airspeed bleed and nose attitude seems right on the money to me. By far the most immersive GA experience I have had in FSX.Now maybe I am little biased as I have some experience in Cessna high wings but this purchase was a no brainer for me. No disresepect to Carenado but the 'wham bam thank you mam' speed they put out aircraft addons cannot compare to this package.I would have happily paid ~$39.95 or so just for the 182 without the glass pit and maybe a GNS 430 or 530 etc, so an extra $10 for the updatable nav database G1000 is not unfair in my book.Just because this isn't a 737 NG or A320 does not make it any less of a package. We dont all want to fly high fidelity airliners at 30,000 feet all the time you know.I am sure I will enjoy the 737NGX as well when it comes out and I fully expect to pay close to or around $90 for that fine looking piece of work. Then my $49.95 for my T182T doesn't seem expensive anyway.Flight 1 will sell lots of these or they wont. If they dont then you can plan on picking it up on sale some months from now. In the meantime, I'm off to enjoy my T182T in the PNW......

Gotcha. Incidentally, if you hit the big blue 'add reply' button instead of the one on the thread, it doesn't quote the last post on the thread.Al

Well, you can also highlight the quote at the top of the reply you make and delete that bit. That works too.Al

Well, here goes. Just purchased this aircraft, despite some of the things that I've read. I am a very big fan of Flight1, but i must say the rant by Jim was not too noteworthy. The Mustang had always been a favorite of mine and I would truly have flown it more if not for the FPS issues. I have a pretty decent system, not overclocked, i7 quad, liquid cooled 8gigs of ram Nvidia 295 GTX. The exterior of the aircraft is quite nicely done and i enjoyed it visually, just not that white paint, which is overwhelmingly flat in contrast and dullness. The interior is not what I was expecting, to me far less interesting then that of the Mustang. The one thing that struck me the most was the lack on symmetry in the placement of the rudder peddles in conjunction with rest of the pit. Cockeyed and off center from the Yoke. The sound was very nice externally but inside it went from low rpms to a much higher rpm note with something missing it seems in between. All systems worked flawlessly and the Hand flying was outstanding. Ground handling was very nice and I was a bit curious what to expect with that, being that I had read several comments to the contrary. I really wanted to like this aircraft, but its not the package I thought it would be. The FPS is another factor with this aircraft. At PNW Orcas , no other ai aircraft other than what the scenery provides, I was getting 18 with a 3 FPS mouse lag drop in the VC. All sliders set to medium and unlimited on FPS. Not my cup of tea for a small GA airport. Should have paragraphed this, never meant to go on this long. Sadly, returning it.

I really love the aircraft....I'm just not that keen on the G1000 so far. I thought it would be a fun learning experience but so far I have found it a little bit taxing on my brain and also on my PC!

I find the flight dynamics very good, the G1000 very well done (except a few niggles such as no display switching? No way of showing engine gauges on the PFD? Can't turn off the right display?) and the FPS appalling. The last bit is the worst bit to me, I mean it's a GA aircraft, isn't it? It's IFR capable with the G1000 and all, but I'd like to enjoy the scenery in such an airplane, and I have to durn down my settings until it looks like FS2000 to be able to fly it. Not sure if I'll return it yet, will do some more testing and tweaking first. I do love the panel a bit too much to give up on this addon just yet, having had a lesson in a 172 G1000 in real life (only once so far though). With a bit of gauge optimizing and some more bumps on the fuselage it'll be perfect, but right now it's nearly un-flyable for me. And the price, well that's been discussed and censored already. Most of us can afford it, but I think few of us will think it's worth it.

It is a bit tough on older systems... what are you running right now? I find it to perform a little better than the Duke turbine if you're familiar with that, and perform worse than the Mustang.

Maybe they'll find some more performance tweaks in the upcoming service pack. You can't do much on the G1000 impact, but maybe the Inset to off helps a bit and also watching the mouse cursor placement since it may be that you lose some fps there. Try it, that's what that 30 day thingy is for.

and perform worse than the Mustang.
That's the thing which puzzles me a bit since the Mustang has more screens, but runs noticeable faster. Both are still within my limits, even on the nice scenery titles, but I wonder were the big impact happens on the C182 to be honest.

The FPS impact seems to be highly system-dependent (shocking, I know). On my rig, the 182 flies smooth as butter, a really nice little performer. I've never been able to get that kind of performance out of the Mustang, and finally I just stopped trying. Poor performance on the 182 is not universal.
