July 8, 201114 yr I keep seeing this - how exactly is Mr Prest helping to drive this project? Don't get me wrong, as vocal as I've been about Airsimmer's practices, I've always acknowledged the tremendous potential of the product(s). It's great that someone 'new' is involved, I'm just curious how specifically Mr Prest improves the prospects for improvement going forward? He's someone who provided sterling (unofficial) support off his own back for a long time on the official Airsimmer forums. Now thats commitment. He's also a respected member of these forums. I guess we have to take him on his word as far as things moving forward go, but given his previous form I feel there is room for optimism. Richard Wells
July 8, 201114 yr Rafal, Wiseblood - and Rob,Thanks for all the very informative info in this thread, I'm sloooowly turning my eye again at AS, as I too am longing for an A32x. Certainly there are some really tempting aspects, but I am still wary of the Company, and this totally random 'never know if or when or for whom' ctd thing is a bit off-putting. I'm used to ZERO aircraft related ctds.Ultimately it is an F1 title, so maybe I'll give it a whirl, or maybe keep waiting and watching :( - we'll see. Thanks again. Regards, Mark
July 8, 201114 yr Mark, let Rob speak for himself and decide on how much he can and how much he wants to say.All I can tell you is since he recently took over the support at AS, their forum started being a different place. Slowly, as he's a one-man band, but consequently.Questions are finally being answered, concrete suggestions given and tweaks found and collected. Moreover he is in constant touch with the developers, passing problems to them and definitely (at least that's my feeling) accelerating the moment new patches come.Of course you cannot compare it to the wonderful F1 iFly forum we both know very well, as Rob alone took over after guys whose customer-directed approach and PR are from a different planet.Plus this product was released much more prematurely (how unfortunate - we all know) than the 737NG.But Rob is the guy and I have a lot of trust in him. I am sure I will not regret my confidence. :(+1 Rob's doing fantastic work over there, he deserves a medal :( . He's the one that made me reinstall the bus and give it another go as we do need this project to work, it is visually stunning and has alot of potential in its flight characterristics, i hope the rest of AS pull there weight and give him a hand with this, its alot to take on! Cheers to Rob Chris Howard
July 9, 201114 yr Hi,After reading these posts, I'll take a look again to this AS bird.I am starving for an Airbus add-on too... :)Regards.
July 9, 201114 yr Author Rafal,I gave it an other chance and I made three more flights without any CTDs. But, I did get two more issues in my fourth flight. I set up a flight from EGCC to LOWW and here is what happened.First, after noticing a sudden raise in the pitch right after raising the gear on all of my previous flights , I checked the trim after engaging Felx on take off and it seems that it resets to 0.1!Second, this was the first flight I used a SID. And just before reaching the second point which has an altitude restriction, the plan disappeared from the ND and then all the gauges went black while the FPS went to 1 or 2.I tried the flight with the same set up four times with the same result. Now, the only differences between this flight and the other successful flights are Radar Contact and using the SID.Also, I read in the forum that we shouldn't use Active camera's pop ups, unless we remove the 2d panel. Is it true? and how can I remove it? Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
July 9, 201114 yr nam1394,It would be a better idea to post the problems in the AirSimmer support (technical) forum, where Rob can do the official support.Your issues seem to be some more or less serious problems, so maybe let us not discuss them here, for obvious reasons. As for the pop-ups: if you use Active Camera it means you are flying in the VC.I discovered that my AC sometimes stopped responding ( I couldn't look around with my mouse) in flight after I used some 2D popup windows. After removing the 2D panel (removing its entries from the panel.cfg), which now is not important to me, I had no more of this problem.Greetings!
July 9, 201114 yr Author Ok, I will post it in the forum. Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205

You don't have remove the 2D panel, just find every Zorder=X entry in the panel CFG and add // before it and the problem will be gone. This works with all addons that use zorder in their panel CFG including Wilco Airbus after the Evolution upgrade. Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
July 10, 201114 yr Ahh the Zorder problem. You don't have remove the 2D panelNot exactly, I would say. Yes, the zorder solution is mentioned a few times in the AS forum, also by myself: http://www.airsimmer...indpost&p=72416But it may not solve AC problems completely, as using a 2D pop up panel in flight may still block it from working anyway (happened to me). So I would still suggest using VC only if your flight experience is based on AC and you want to be sure.Additionally removing the 2D panel visibly improves performance in the AS bus and that's mainly why it is recommended (for the VC flyers, of course).
July 10, 201114 yr Author So removing all entries in the CFG an keepeng the VCentries and it might fix my problem with entering the SID? Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
July 10, 201114 yr it might fix my problem with entering the SID?Frankly speaking I don't think it has anything to do with SIDs.We are talking about potential problems with AC working, not about procedures.

July 10, 201114 yr Can you remove the VC if you're an old 2D codger like myself?Hehe, no. Unless you know how to dig in the model files of course. But, on a side note, until this year I was a 2D codger too, for more than 15 years of my simming.IFly has changed it for good and AirSImmer only added to the great feeling of flying in a well-made VC.I'm giving you friendly advice to give VC flying another try. I's worth!I'll be happy to asist you in this transformation. :smile:Hey, today men become women, women become men, don't be afraid, at least there's no lancet involved and you can always revert!
July 11, 201114 yr Thanks Rafal. Sure I've tried them in many a/c including the iFly. I just don't like them that's all. A bit like beetroots. I can't help it, but I just don't like them. I wish I did like VCs and beetroots, but I just don't.Keep me up to date on the a/c please. I'm only a good service pack away from buying it. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
July 11, 201114 yr Hi Rafal,Interesting suggestion to remove the 2D panels, but in this case how do you circumvent the APU CTD? I usually start my session in the 2D, fire up the APU, and then switch to VC for the remaining part of the flight, this VC is so well designed! The APU start is by the way the only CTD that I experienced with this aircraft, and I use it several times a week with few issues if any. Best regards,
