Currently about 320MB with an optional extra 270MB download for the worldwide terrain database. Liveries are around 20-25MB a piece now because of the higher resolution.
What is the worldwide terrain database? Is this for the ground map radar that is used on the NG?

I am pretty sure it is for the terrain overlay on the map display :(

That would be my guess too...

Yes. It is a TD (terrain display), NOT a terrain radar. The real 737 is equipped with a database of pre-loaded topographical information, and this is the same thing that PMDG is providing with the NGX.

We'd have to code our own custom engine sound generator to get it completely right, but it's really close still even.

On second thought, maybe it's better if you didn't! I'd never notice the difference...

Terrain Display:
Actually the picture you posted shows the VSD (Vertical Situation Display), not the Terrain Display. The Terrain Display is an overlay on the ND. See picture below:92655_1306067014.jpg

TERR was on. Look at the picture again.

Yes, it was. The VSD shows the elevation or vertical profile of the terrain ahead. However, my point is that there is a difference. The picture you posted was of the VSD. The picture I posted was of the "Terrain Display" or terrain overlay on the ND. It is totally no biggie, I'm just clarifying so that people know the difference.

Ha, EDIT. I see what you mean now. TERR was on in the background, dimly lit. lol Sorry for my bad eyes. :(

Thanks guys. :( PMDG is pretty much implementing the terrain display just like the real 737NG with their own pre-loaded software. :( I remembered reading about that feature a long while back, and putting the two together seemed like the right idea.

I agree, this ought to be pinned, has some amazing awesome info about the NG AND the NGX.

Does anybody know if the gentlemens solved the lighting issue with the windscreen wipers? :( I mean the issue about the wipers lighting up when taxi or landing light was on..Hopefully they did, I would expect that since it is PMDG.Either way I am still impressed as what they did to this amazing software, especially the VC and the soundpack.. Looking forward to get my hands on it :(

If I recall correctly, that was a limitation of FSX they just had to deal with. Something to do with the amount of animations allowed, which were already taken up somewhere else on this incredible aircraft model.
