Packs Sound Intensity

Featured Replies

yes the former - the whole sound package has around 500 unique sound files covering pretty much everything you would expect to hear on the real aircraft. Not bad huh?!
No not bad at all. Oh dear and I do have a subwoofer. Actually might get a new one sooner than a new graphics card (which I actually need more deperately, but oh well)...
Every single switch and device that makes a unique sound was recorded in the real cockpit with professional condenser mics. This soundset is extremely nice, I think you all will be very impressed.
I'm sure I will be. It's one of the parts that really add to the immersion without many specifically noting it, I'd assume. :(sig.gif

This is sounding fantastic, if you'll pardon the pun!Sounds really add a lot for me - and I am really looking to hearing your no doubt marvellous work!Cheers,Rudy

Ben - We are working on this right now - I "expect" that this feature will ready for the release version. I would say that this is the most advanced Pack simulation we have ever done where the sound of the packs are not only proportional to various pack and recirc fans combinations but also engine power settings as well.Nathan - On 99% of FSX aircraft this is true but not for our NGX! We have managed to get three sound sets working on the NGX - cockpit sounds, outside sounds and also wing view sounds. But in addition to the hundred or so FSX sounds we have around FOUR HUNDRED further sounds implemented via custom programming by our development team. I expect that pretty much every sound you could possibly hear on the real 737 has been implemented on the NGX. :)Cheers,
WOW this plane sounds better with every update. Once this thing is released I am going to burn the current NG I use to a DVD and put it in the microwave since I won't be needing it anymore. Any chance of a trade in program? LOL

I am wondering what will be the size of the installer... I am pretty sure it will be high, and I like it

Just out of curiosity, will there be a separate flap sound when you are in the wing view? Thanks,Robert Deichert

Wow!! this sounds great guys. Wingview sounds, packs, and 400 unique sounds....awesome!

Currently about 320MB with an optional extra 270MB download for the worldwide terrain database. Liveries are around 20-25MB a piece now because of the higher resolution.

WOW! That's a pretty heavy one, considering that the J41 installer is only 175MB and its liveries are about 6MB. How is the download speed?

Yesterday I flew on TRS776 from LAS to ATL.When we were taxiing out for departure in LAS I noticed that whenever the pilot's gave the engines some thrust the noise of the packs would get a lot louder due to the increased pressure in the bleed ducts. Is this accurately modeled in the NGX? AND will the sound of the packs change with how much throttle is applied?
Possibly I'm thinking of something else here, but I seem to recall a few months ago one of the tech team explained exactly what causes that sudden muffled roar when the CFM engines spool up out of idle. Going off memory here I think someone said it had something to do with a relief valve opening to alleviate excess bleed air pressure when the engines are accelerated. I fly on the 737 a few times a month and while the noise is quite pronounced in the cabin, it isn't quite so obvious from the jumpseat, though I still recall being able to hear it.

I am talking about the packs sound but I am aware what you are talking about. Whenever they would spool up the engines it would get really loud and the CFM's would "roar" then once the engines stabilized they would get quiet again.

I'd imagine if they did the Flight Attendants would need to hand out some Bose Noise-Cancelling headphones to us all, as an apology for the sound of two turbofan engines breaking apart. :(

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.

It's the VBV - variable bleed valve, and yes it's audible in the NGX soundset to the best that we could do given the limitations of the engine sound system. We'd have to code our own custom engine sound generator to get it completely right, but it's really close still even.

I wonder if they've modelled the sound of crying babies? lol
