:( :( So funny you say that, although probably only a handful of folks here know what you are talking about, to this day every time I hear the word Toledo I always think of Klinger.BTW, I wonder what the ETA for this scenery is? I should have asked Shez earlier when he posted it.

I new their would be a few, lol?Klinger was a character in a t.v. show (comedy/drama) called M.A.S.H that aired in the US and possibly other countries from Sept 1972 until Feb. 1983. It was about a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital ie. M.A.S.H. that was located in South Korea during the Korean War. The unit was the 4077th and Klinger as he was refered to was Cpl. Maxwell Q. Klinger the company clerk who was played by Jamie Farr. During the run of his character he was always trying to find a way to get out of the Army by way of a Section 8 (psychiatric discharge) and was always dressing up in womens clothes and pulling other shenanigans to try and appear crazy to get his discharge. However none of his superiors ever fell for it and hence he never got his discharge. He finally gave up and was later promoted from corporal to sergeant. Believe it or not, the show is still broadcast in syndication on various television stations in the US.As far as the connection to Klinger and Toledo, during the corse of his appearance on the show he always made reference to Toledo, Ohio as that was where his character hailed from and where he wanted to return if and when he got his discharge. That's the reason why when I hear or some of us hear Toledo mentioned, the character Klinger comes to mind. Coincidentally, Jamie Farr who played Klinger, in real life actually was from Toledo, Ohio.Toledo is also used in an expression when people say "Holy Toledo" which is now used as a phrase by Americans, if something is unbelievable or disturbing. However the Toledo in the expression is actually a reference to Holy city of Toledo, Spain, but most younger people probably think its in reference to Toledo, Ohio. Although some argue that the saying is in reference to the Toledo Scale which is said to be a perfect scale.

Very nice write up - sir... Those of us of a certain age have probably seen every episode of MASH three or four times... For many years they played multiple episodes back to back - after school... Now pass the Salami...;)Regards,Scott
