NGX or MD-11

Featured Replies

The MD-11 is the standard for now till the NGX comes out than the bar will be raised once again.Michael pare. (hard core PMDG fan)
Yep. MD11 ftw. It's really an awesome aircraft. I bought the Aerosoft box and i've never had any bug/ctd. Frames are really good and the aircraft is simulated in an almost perfect way. And it REALLY looks awesome. The modelled details are surprising if you see them for the first time :)

mmm i think that the standard is the J41, as for quality and simulation its better than the MD-11.

Ya but the MD11 is the state of the art in airliner (!) simulation for FSX. The J41 is a turboprop ;)

Nah, the simulation part is way better on the MD11. The Jetstream has no failure model and the engines aside. it isn't a very complex aircraft in comparison. Some of the switches are inop and some gauges, like the fuel temperature gauge, are not working.

I agree you idea Alexander,J41 just is a pretty airplane because not include failures system.

I believe PMDG considers it to be a "lite" model. It's not quite up to the level of detail of the MD11 or the 744. The price reflects that too.-johnny rodgers

The J41 is the best turboprop out there for FSX in our opinion. That said, it is not as complex or complete as the MD-11 - this is true. That's also reflected in the fact that the MD-11 is nearly twice the price. It's certainly not "lite" in the way that the old B1900s were - it's all custom gauges, has an FMS etc. It just doesn't have failures, panel states and some of the more advanced stuff like you find in our mainline jet products. As to the original question here... I'd hold off for a bit if you've only got the money to buy one - I know no one believes it at this point but we are really close on the NGX. I think it's better than the MD-11 both visually and systems-wise.

The MD11 is completely different from flying the 737NG. I would not do without either. I love my MD11. The MD11 experience is somewhere in between an Airbus and a Boeing. It is highly automated and a pleasure to fly.A good rule of thumb is that if it says PMDG in front of the type, you can't go wrong. You'll be happy with the purchase. Believe me, once you have the NGX, you will still be flying your MD11 and your J41. Each offers a different experience and there is no reason to leave any of them in the hanger for long. The only constraint is sim-time.Thinking.gifBob
